A Study on the Shape-Based Motion Estimation For MCFI (MCFI 구현을 위한 형태 기반 움직임 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Motion Compensated Frame Interpolation(MCFI) has been used to reduce motion jerkiness for dynamic scenes and motion blurriness for LCD-panel display as post processing for large screen and full HD(high definition) display. Conventionally, block matching algorithms (BMA) are widely used to do motion estimation for simplicity of implementation. However, there are still several drawbacks. So in this paper, we propose a novel shape-based ME algorithm to increase accuracy and reduce ME computational cost. To increase ME accuracy, we do motion estimation based on shape of moving objects. And only moving areas are included for motion estimation to reduce computational cost. The results show that the computational cost is 25 % lower than full search BMA, while the performance is similar or is better, especially in the fast moving region.

  • ITO(indium tin oxide) that is both conductive in electricity and transparent to the visible ray is called transparent conducting thin film. Nowaday, according to the development of flat panel display such as LCD(Liquid Crystal display, EL(electolumine- scence display), PDP(plasma display panel), ECD(electrocromic display), the higher quality in the low temperature process has been asked to reduce the production cost and to have a good uniformity on a large substrate. In this study, we prepared indium tin oxide(ITO) by a cylindrical DC magnetron sputtering with Indium-tin (9:1) alloy target instead of indium-tin oxide target. To reduce the defact in ITO, the effect on ITO by varing the magnetic field intensity and the applied voltage ares studied. the resistivity of the film deposited in oxygen partial pressure of 5% and substrate temperature of 140$^{\circ}C$. is 1.6${\times}$10$\^$-1/$\Omega$$.$cm with 85% optical transmission in viaible ray.

  • TCO (Transparent Conductive Oxide)는 투명 전도성 산화물 높은 투과율과 낮은 비저항 가지고 있어서 최근 사용된 평판디스플레이 LCD(liquid crystal display), PDP (Plasma Display Panel), OLED (Organic Light Emitting Display) 에 많이 사용되고 있다. 현재 양산화 되고 있는 ITO (Indium tin Oxide)는 좋은 전도율과 높은 투과율로서 가장 많이 쓰인다. 하지만 ITO중에 Indium Oxide는 치명적인 독성을 가지고 있으며 In의 저장량이 적어 시간이 갈수록 가격이 비싸지는 등 여러 가지 단점을 가지고 있다. 그것에 비해 AZO (aluminum-doped zinc oxide)는 독성이 없고 가격도 저렴하여 ITO의 단점을 보완 할 수 있는 물질이다. AZO 증착은 현재 sol-gel, CVD(chemical vapor deposition), Sputter, 등으로 사용되고 있으며 현재 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 실험에서는 PEN 기판을 사용하였으며, 플라즈마의 열적 데미지로 인한 기판의 변형 등 여러 가지 문제를 해결하기 위하여 박막의 열적 변형이 적고, 고밀도 플라즈마로 양질의 박막 증착이 가능한 FTS (Facing Target Sputtering)방법을 사용하여 AZO박막을 증착시키고 구조적, 전기적, 광학적인 특성을 평가 하였다. 측정 분석 결과 AZO는 가시광 영역에 높은 투과율이 요구되는 Flexible display 표시장치와 OLED, PDP, 유기태양전지 등 많은 영역에 사용이 가능 할 것이라 사료된다.

A Study on the Simulation and DSF Molding of V-groove Type Light Guide for a Backlight Unit (백라이트 유닛용 V-그루브 도광판의 전산모사 및 DSF성형에 관한 비교연구)

  • Nowadays, TFT-LCD is widely used as display unit of many digital devices. And, the backlight unit(BLU) is used as a light source of TFT-LCD module. In the backlight unit, the most important component is a light guide, which guides the input light to the TFT-LCD module uniformly. Recently, many researchers have focused on improving the efficiency of BLU by changing the design and structure of a light guide. In the present paper, a series of simulation was performed to find the optimal luminance distribution of emanated light from the given geometry as the first step. From the results of simulations for the light guide with given V-groove pattern, the emanated light from it is mostly affected by the groove angle. In the case of acute angle, about 74 degrees was found as optimal angle to satisfy the restrictions of angular luminance distribution, FWHM, the maximum luminance, etc. However, as far as the average luminance value was concerned, the case of 120 degrees(abtuse angle) was found to be the best while prism films were added to the BLU. As a next step the light guide samples of 74 and 120 degrees were manufactured by DSF method, which was recently proposed by the authors. Of course, most of design parameters were chosen by the aid of simulation results. Finally, the results of average luminance values were compared between the simulation and DSF molded samples.

Test tool for flow and self-leveling characters of coating materials of siloxane polymer used to semiconductor and electronic parts (반도체와 전자 부품에 사용되는 실록산 고분자 코팅물질의 흐름성 및 자기 퍼짐성 측정 시험장치 연구)

  • A test tool for self-leveling and flowing characters of coating materials used to semiconductors and electronic parts, especially for protection of LCD and PDP connectors, was designed, and the test tool was evaluated using polymeric siloxane coating materials which have various viscosities. The test results showed that the designed test tool was effective to measure self-leveling and flowing properties of coating materials. Therefore, considering that the viscosity is not directly correlated with self-leveling and flowing properties, we believe that this test tool will be a very useful tool for measurement instead of classical method using viscosities of coating materials. Particularly, the measurement of self-leveling and flowing properties using the test tool would be expected to be used in the area of selecting suitable protective coating materials for LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), PDP (Plasma Display Panel) and semiconductor connection parts.

  • In this paper, we studied Surface Discharge Type Flat Fluorescent Lamp with High Luminance for LCD Backlighting, Liquid Crystal display(LCDs) demand the use of fluorescent lamp as the backlighting source. This lamp is Surface Discharge Type structure with a pair of Sodalime glass, insulator layer, phosphor layer, and Xe gas gap. In spite of its simple structure, the lamp has uniform and stable discharge over entire volume. Till now, we measured the current-voltage(V-I), Firing Voltage, Sustain Voltage for 0.5mm, 1mm electrode gap. In experiment result, long gap cell structure cause high firing voltage. The rising in firing voltage in long gap structure could not be explained by paschen's law because of non-uniform electric field.

  • An active-matrix liquid crystal display (LCD) using thin film transistors (TFTs) has been widely recognized as having potential for high-quality color flat-panel displays. Pixel-Design Array Simulation Tool (PDAST) was used to profoundly understand the gate signal distortion and pixel charging capability, which are the most critical limiting factors for high-quality TFT-LCDs. Since PDAST can simulate the sate, data and pixel voltages of a certain pixel on TFT array at any time and at any location on an array, the effect of the new set of capacitance models on the pixel operations can be effectively analyzed. The set of models which is adopted from VLSI interconnections calculate more precise capacitance. The information obtained from this study could be utilized to design the larger area and finer image quality panel.

  • In this paper, we intend to make FFS mode cell with LC alignment used non-rubbing method, ion beam alignment method on the a-C:H thin film, to analyze electro-optical characteristics in this cell. We studied on the suitable inorganic thin film for FFS-LCD and the aligning capabilities of nematic liquid crystal (NLC) using the new alignment material of a-C:H thin film as working gas at rf bias condition. A high pretilt angle of about 5$^{\circ}$ by ion beam(IB) exposure on the a-C:H thin film surface was measured. An excellent voltage-transmittance (V-T) and response time curve of the ion-beam-aligned FFS-LCD was observed with oblique ion beam exposure on the DLC thin films.

  • Automatic transfer equipments of manufacturing and process line trend toward big size as LCD glass is big size, heavy weight. The conventional stocker uses rotational motor and mechanical power converter device as travel axis of stocker crane and then frequent maintenances by complex structure and mechanical friction are required. Also it has problem to minimize the particle generation. To solve these problems, this paper verified the performance of permanent magnet(PM) excited transverse flux linear motor(TFLM) that is big power density per unit volume applied for travel axis of 7 generation stocker that is being big size, high power, long distance by the experiment based on proposed control algorithm, controller and power converter device.

  • a-Si(amorphous silicon) TFT(thin film transistor)는 TFT-LCD(liquid crystal display)의 화소 스위칭(switching) 소자로 폭넓게 이용되고 있다. 현재는 a-Si을 이용하여 gate drive IC를 기판에 집적하는 ASG(amorphous silicon gate) 기술이 연구, 적용되고 있는데 이때 가장 큰 제약은 문턱 전압(Vth)의 이동이다. 특히 고온에서는 문턱 전압의(Vth) 이동이 가속화 되고, Ioff current가 증가 하게 되고, 저온($0^{\circ}C$)에서는 전류 구동능력이 상온($25^{\circ}C$) 상태에서 같은 게이트 전압(Vg)에 대해서 50% 수준으로 감소하게 된다. 특히 ASG 회로는 여러 개의 TFT로 구성되는데, 각각의 TFT가 고온에서 Vth shift 값이 다르게 되어 설계시 예상하지 못 한 고온에서의 화면 무너짐 현상 즉 고온 노이즈 불량이 발생 할 수 있다. 고온 노이즈 불량은 고온에서의 각 TFT의 문턱전압 및 $I_D-V_G$ 특성을 측정한 결과 고온 노이즈 불량에 영향을 주는 인자가 TFT의 width와 기생 capacitor비 hold TFT width가 영향을 주는 것으로 실험 및 시뮬레이션 결과 확인이 되었다. 발생 mechanism은 ASG 회로는 AC 구동을 하기 때문에 Voff 전위에 ripple이 발생 되는데 특히 고온에서 ripple이 크게 증가 하여 출력 signal에 영향을 주어 불량이 발생하는 것을 규명하였다.
