Simulation of Moving Picture Blur Noise for liquid Crystal Display (액정 디스플레이의 동화상 퍼짐 노이즈 시뮬레이션)

  • Hold-type display의 동화상 인식 원리를 이용하여 인간의 시각특성을 고려한 LCD의 동화상 퍼짐(blur) 노이즈 컴퓨터 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 그리고 이 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 통화상 퍼짐 노이즈 특성을 실험한 결과 화상의 이동속도가 빠를수록 퍼짐 노이즈가 증가하며 백라이트의 점등비가 낮을수록 노이즈가 저감된다는 것을 알았다. 이는 기존의 연구결과들과 잘 일치하는 것으로 이것으로부터 본 연구에서 개발한 시뮬레이터의 알고리듬이 타당하다고 할 수 있다.

  • Three thermally stable red dyes of azo, quinacridone and perylene derivatives were synthesized and dye-based color filters were manufactured for liquid crystal display. Aggregation behavior of the dyes and their spectral property in film state were investigated by concentration dependent spectroscopy and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). These dyes have remarkable difference on their aggregation behavior in film state. Such difference of aggregation behavior affects the spectral property of the film, and it can cause decreasing the transmittance of dye-based color filters.

  • Flexible displays such as plastic-based liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and organic light-emitting diode displays (OLEDDs) have been researched and developed at KETI since 1997. The plastic film substrate is very weak to heat and pressure compared to glass substrate, that its fabrication process is limited to 110$^{\circ}C$ and low pressure. The ITO films were deposited on the bare plastic film substrate by rf-magnetron sputtering. Moreover, in order to maintain uniform cell gap and pressure on the plastic film substrate, we utilized newly-invented jig and fabrication process. Electro-optical characteristics were better than or equivalent to those of typical glass LCDs though it is thinner, lighter-weight, and more robust than glass LCDs.

  • BLUs(Backlight Units) are major component in LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) industry which occupies 90% or more of worldwide FPD(Flat Panel Display) market. And BLU market is expected to be expanded continuously according to the trend of miniaturization, slimness, low power consumption and low weight. The larger the BLU market scale, the more important standardization of performance evaluation techniques to clearly prescribe the product specification. This document is a generic specification of measurement methods of LED BLU for LCDs. It defines general procedures for quality assessment and gives general rules for measuring methods of LED BLU for LCDs.

  • Recently, high vacuum pumps are widely used in the semi-conduction and liquid-crystal display ( LCD ) process. The composite-type high vacuum pumps are widely used in the various processes. In this study, the pumping performance of composite-type molecular pumps has been investigated experimentally. The experimented pumps are a compound molecular pump ( CMP ) and hybrid molecular pump ( HMP ). The CMP consists with helical-type drag pump, at lower part, and with turbomolecular pump ( TMP ), at upper part. The HMP consists with disk-type drag pump, at lower part, and with TMP, at upper part. The experiments are performed in the outlet pressure of $0.2\;{\sim}\;533\;Pa$.   • In this paper, we propose the bistability the bistability in a chiral-splay nematic liquid crystal cell, which is obtained by adding a chiral additive to a splay cell and introduce a novel switching method for the bistable chiral-splay nematic cell in order to transit the LC director between the non-twisted state with splay and the 180$^{\circ}$ twist state.

  • The Cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) are widely used to illuminate the liquid crystal display(LCD). Ballasts are required for CCFL because the lamp need high starting voltage and behave negative dynamic resistant characteristics in the desired region of operation. Dimming methods of CCFL are used to pulse frequency modulation(PFM) or pulse width modulation(PWM). In this paper, CCFL driving and control circuit is designed by half-bridge type series and parallel resonant inverter that variable frequency modulation method to control the output voltage current. The validity of this study is confirmed from the simulation and experimental results.

  • 본 논문에서는 집적 영상에 기반한 2차원/3차원 변환 가능한 디스플레이에서 기초 영상을 표시하는 투과형 디스플레이 소자로서 기존의 광변조기 대신 LCD (liquid crystal display) 패널을 사용하여 컬러 디스플레이를 구현하는 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 제안된 방법의 원리를 설명하고 실험 결과를 보여주도록 하겠다. 또한 예상되는 색 분산 문제점에 대하여 살펴보고 이의 원인을 분석하고 해결 방법을 제안하여 2차원/3차원 변환 가능한 컬러 디스플레이를 구현하는 방법에 대하여 논하도록 하겠다.

Preparation of Borosilicate Foamed Glass Body with Sound Absorption Characteristics by the Recycling Waste Liquid Crystal Display Glass (폐 LCD 유리를 이용한 흡음특성을 갖는 붕규산유리발포체 제조)

  • In this research, an alumino-borosilicate foamed glass with sound absorption property was prepared using the waste borosilicate glass obtained from the recycling process of waste liquid crystal display (LCD) panel. A 100 g of pulverized waste borosilicate glass with the particle size of under 325 mesh, was mixed with 0.3 g (wt/wt) of graphite, each 1.5 g (wt/wt) of $Na_2CO_3$, $Na_2SO_4$ and $CaCO_3$ as a foaming agent, and 6.0 g (wt/wt) of $H_3BO_3$ and 3.0 g (wt/wt) of $Al_2O_3$ as a pore control agent. Following mixture was under the foaming process for 20 minutes at a foaming temperature of $950^{\circ}C$. The result yielded the foaming agent with 45% of the opened porosity and 0.5-0.7 of the sound absorbing coefficient. This alumino-borosilicate foamed glass with the sound absorption property showed excellent physical and mechanical properties such as density of $0.21g/cm^3$, bending strength of $55N/cm^2$ and compression strength of $298N/cm^2$ which can be ideally used as sound absorption materials with heat-resisting and chemical-resisting property.
