  • Various 3D-stacked DRAMs have been proposed to overcome the memory wall problem. Hybrid Memory Cube (HMC) is a true 3D-stacked DRAM with stacked DRAM layers on top of a logic layer. The logic die is mainly used to implement a memory controller for HMC, and it is connected through a high speed serial link called SerDes with a host that is either a processor or another HMC. In HMC, the serial link is crucial for both performance and power consumption. Therefore, it is important that the link is configured properly so that the required performance should be satisfied while the power consumption is minimized. In this paper, we propose a HMC system model included the high speed serial link to estimate performance accurately. Since the link modeling strictly follows the link flow control mechanism defined in the HMC spec, the actual HMC performance can be estimated accurately with respect to each link configuration. Various simulations are conducted in order to deduce the correlation between the HMC performance and the link configuration with regard to memory utilization. It is confirmed that there is a strong correlation between the achievable maximum performance of HMC and the link configuration in terms of both bandwidth and latency. Therefore, it is possible to find the best link configuration when the required HMC performance is known in advance, and finding the best configuration will lead to significant power saving while the performance requirement is satisfied.

  • Link-16 is a data link that provides joint interoperability to the US Navy, Air Force and NATO. Currently, the military relies entirely on foreign SW and tools for test environment, tactical simulation training and interoperability verification test for Link-16 operation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop Link-16 based operation environment test tool. In this paper, Link-16 network operational performance analysis simulator was developed by analyzing the function of Link-16 foreign tools. It also implements the SIMPLE standard interface for interworking with foreign SW and tools. The functional model for Link-16 network operation performance analysis consists of pre-analysis, real-time operational analysis, and post-analysis functional model. Each functional model test was performed through SIMPLE interworking with foreign SW and tools. Link-16 network operation performance analysis If we replace foreign SW through simulator, we can perform tactical training, network design verification and operation (scenario) verification for our military.

  • The joint tactical information distribution system (JTIDS) is used as the communication terminal of Link-16 by the United States armed forces, north atlantic treaty organization (NATO), and other allied forces. A portion of Link-16 frequencies may be shortly remapped to other systems owing to the growing demand for frequencies, especially in civil aviation, which is witnessing a constant increase in air traffic. This will affect the performance of Link-16. Therefore, in this paper, we analyze the effect of frequency band reduction on the performance of Link-16 waveform under partial-band noise jamming with Nakagami fading, via simulation and numerical analysis. The multi-net and anti-jamming performance of Link-16 with frequency remapping is compared with that of conventional Link-16 systems. The results show that the performance of Link-16 waveform is degraded with the reduction in frequencies. Nonetheless, Link-16 retains its jam resistance, and it can support multiple users in the same time slots.

  • Routers determine routing path considering network topology and link state information for providing QoS (quality of service) guarantee. Therefore, it is important that routers know link state information to calculate routing path. However, if routers generate link state update messages inordinately, their router performance are reduced due to the process of link state update messages. On the other side, in case that link state information is not updated appropriately, route setup requests can be rejected even though there exist routes. In this paper, we propose an algorithm to improve router performance and evaluate the proposed algorithm performance compare with conventional algorithm by simulations.

  • Effective link quality estimation is a vital issue for reliable routing in wireless networks. This paper studies the performance of expected transmission count (ETX) under different traffic loads. Although ETX shows good performance under light load, its performance gets significantly worse when the traffic load is high. A broadcast packet storm due to new route discoveries severely affects the link ETX values under high traffic load, which makes it difficult to find a good path. This paper presents the design and implementation of a variation of ETX called high load - ETX (HETX), which reduces the impact of route request broadcast packets to link metric values under high load. We also propose a reliable routing protocol using link quality metrics, which is called link quality distance vector (LQDV). We conducted the evaluation of the performance of three metrics - HETX, ETX and minimum hop-count. The simulation results show that HETX improves the average route throughput by up to 25% over ETX under high traffic load. Minimum hop-count has poor performance compared with both HETX and ETX at all of the different traffic loads. Under light load, HETX and ETX show the same performance.

  • For constructionof the next generation satellite B-ISDN/ATM networks considering integration with terrestrial information infrastructure networks, various high speed and wideband satellites with be launched and they will make used of frequency reue techniques for efficient management of limited frequency resource. Therefore, CCI(Co-Channel Interference) inherent in frequency reuse will be a dominant factor in performance degradation of satellite networks. This paper alanyzes the ATM cell transmission performance degradation caused by CCI. The satellite link, including up-link and down-link thermal noise, CCI, and nonlinear satellite transponder, is modeled and interleaving technique is used for compensating the ATM cell transmission performance degradation caused by burst error of satellite link. First, each satellite link subsystem is analyzed in detail and then end-to-end ATM cell transmission performance is evaluated with BER and CLR. Specifically, ATMcell transmission performance degradation caused by CCI is evaluated in detail.

  • The unbalance heavy-load elevation driving systems are composed of rotating link-mechanism and hydraulic cylinder which actuates elevation and compensates the static unbalance moment of supporting mechanism. Control and compensation of gun driving is very difficult because these mechanism imply highly nonlinearities due to hydraulic fluid characteristics and mechanical rotation of link-mechanism. In this study, through the analysis of manufactured link-mechanism, the optimal link-mechanism design of the elevating system is suggested. Also to estimate the control performance of the unbalance heavy-load elevation servo-control driving system, modeling and simulation of the system are carried out. To prove the reliability of performance estimation program, simulation results are compared with the experimental results. Both results are similar, therefore this program will be helpful to study the control performance improvement of the system.

  • This study analyzes the mathematical relationship between DC-link voltage and system parameters for shunt active power filters (APFs). Analysis and mathematical deduction are used to determine the required minimum DC-link voltage for APF. A novel adaptive DC-link voltage controller for the three-phase four-wire shunt APF is then proposed. In this controller, the DC-link voltage reference value will be maintained at the required minimum voltage level. Therefore, power consumption and switching loss will effectively decrease. The DC-link voltage can also adaptively yield different DC-link voltage levels based on different harmonic currents and grid voltage levels and thus avoid the effects of harmonic current and grid voltage fluctuation on compensation performance. Finally, representative simulation and experimental results in a three-phase four-wire center-split shunt APF are presented to verify the validity and effectiveness of the minimum DC-link voltage design and the proposed adaptive DC-link voltage controller.
