  • An electromagnetic memory effect observed in superconducting YBCO system was studied. From the measurement of differential conductance, it was cleared that the mechanism of electromagnetic memory can not be explained by using conventional flux flow model. By changing the density of external magnetic flux, changes m inductance of a coil in which a superconducting bar is inserted were also measured. It was concluded that the electromagnetic memory effect aries from the interaction between the trapped magnetic flux and the weak link of the filament formed in the superconducting bar.

  • Based on the Model Coupled Method (MCM), a case study has been carried out on a Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular (CFST) tied arch bridge to investigate the vibration problem. The mathematical model assumed a finite element representation of the bridge together with beam, shell, and link elements, and the vehicle simulation employed a three dimensional linear vehicle model with seven independent degrees-of-freedom. A well-known power spectral density of road pavement profiles defined the road surface roughness for Perfect, Good and Poor roads respectively. In virtue of a home-code program, the dynamic interaction between the bridge and vehicle model was simulated, and the dynamic amplification factors were computed for displacement and internal force. The impact effects of the vehicle on different bridge members and the influencing factors were studied. Meanwhile the acceleration responses of some of the components were analyzed in the frequency domain. From the results some valuable conclusions have been drawn.

  • Since the track pin is subjected to large transverse track tension from the track link, conventional track pins for high mobility vehicles are usually made of high strength steel, which increases the weight of tracked vehicles due to the high density of steel. In this paper, several composite materials were employed for track pin design to reduce weight of track pin as well as to enhance the fatigue life of rubber bushings. Especially the effects of shear stiffness of the composites on the life of rubber bushing were investigated.

  • Sensor networks and car networks that have different structure from that of conventional TCP/IP network require extreme network environment due to frequent change of connectivity. Because such extreme network environment has characteristics like unreliable link connectivity, long delay time, asymmetrical data transfer rate, and high error rate, etc., it is difficult to perform normally with the conventional TCP/P-based routing. DTNs (delay and disruption tolerant network) was designed to support data transfer in extreme network environment with long delay time and no guarantee for continuous connectivity between terminals. This study suggests an algorithm that limits the maximum number of copying transferred message to L by improving the spray and wait routing protocol, which is one of the conventional DTNs routing protocols, and using the azimuth and density data of the mobile nods. The suggested algorithm was examined by using ONE, a DTNs simulator. As a result, it could reduce the delay time and overhead of unnecessary packets compared to the conventional spray and wait routing protocol.

  • In this paper, we investigate the impacts of network topology on the performance of a distributed estimation algorithm, namely combine-then-adaptive (CTA) diffusion LMS, based on the data with or without the assumptions of temporal and spatial independence with noisy links. The study covers different network models, including the regular, small-world, random and scale-free whose the performance is analyzed according to the mean stability, mean-square errors, communication cost (link density) and robustness. Simulation results show that the noisy links do not cause divergence in the networks. Also, among the networks, the scale free network (heterogeneous) has the best performance in the steady state of the mean square deviation (MSD) while the regular is the worst case. The robustness of the networks against the issues like node failure and noisier node conditions is discussed as well as providing some guidelines on the design of a network in real condition such that the qualities of estimations are optimized.

  • In computer communication network, it is assumed that blocks are served at a rate of u messages per sec. The message blocks will be stayed in the buffer during the service time. In this case, the probability density distribution of the number of message blocks in the buffer space has been studied. When the average buffer space needed is minimum, the average block size will be specified by the relation between the input data and link infromation length. This relation proves to be perfect. The random number generator for this probability distribution is designed. The test result by making use of the random number generator has shown that is has little difference from the theoretical one.

  • Recently, Power Conditioning System (PCS) tends to require more compact, higher efficiency and power density with better performance. A novel topology consisted of LLC resonant inverter and Low Frequency (LF) cyclo-converter for connecting to utility line is able to meet these requirements. The technical operating analysis is described and 1kW prototype is tested and verified the performances through connecting the 110Vac 60Hz utility line. Efficient results are described.

  • Mono-atomic-layer graphene is an interesting system for studying the relativistic carrier transport arising from a linear energy-momentum dispersion relation. An easy control of the carrier density in graphene by applying an external gate field makes the system even more useful. In this study, we measured the Josephson current in a device consisting of mono-layer graphene sheet sandwiched between two closely spaced (~300 nm) aluminum superconducting electrodes. Gate dependence of the supercurrent in graphene Josephson junction follows the gate dependence of the normal-state conductance. The gate-tunable and relatively large supercurrent in a graphene Josephson junction would facilitate our understanding on the weak-link behavior in a superconducting-normal metal-superconducting (SNS) type Josephson junction.

  • cis-Diamminedichloroplatinum(II)(CDDP), an antitumor drug, did not generate crosslink between bluetongue virus (BTV) capsid protein at moderate concentration. Cesium chloride density gradient centrifugation study revealed that protein-RNA crosslink was not detectable in CDDP treated BTV. CDDP treated BTV ds RNA showed remarkable change in the migration pattern in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. These results suggest that the reduction of BTV core associated transcriptase activity is most likely by the CDDP adduction to the genomic ds RNA rather than by the protein-RNA crosslink and/or protein-protein cross-link.
