  • In order to manufacture a precision mold/die by machining, users need high speed & precision mold/die machining center. So, for development of this machine, we intend to use linear motor that is instead of ball-screw, servo-motor and coupling, high-speed spindle of pressurized air journal bearing and composite materials. In this paper we research column moving type and table moving type. The former is mainly piling 3 axes on one moving body, the latter is consist of two independent carriages. Both types are available to high speed & precision machine, but we finally draw a conclusion column moving type due to an advantage of high-speed control of linear motor.

  • The inherent drawback of iron-core type permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM) is detent force that is dependent on several major factors such as PM length, slot clearance, and skewing. To minimize the detent force, this paper proposes a structure optimization using the combination computation of two dimensional (2-D) finite element analysis (FEA) and response surface methodology (RSM). The RSM, that is a collection of the statistical and mathematical techniques, is utilized to predict the global optimal solution based on the FEA calculated results of the detect forces for different combinations of factors. With the help of the combination computation the high capacity iron-core type PMLSM with more than 12000 N propulsion forces only contains less than 3 N detent forces.

On an Analysis of Reflection and Transmission Coefficients by a Vertical Slit Plate (직립 슬릿판에 의한 반사율과 투과율 해석)

  • In this paper, a numerical model to analyze the performance of a vertical slit-type wave absorber is developed under the assumption of inviscid water waves. The formulation combines the linear potential theory with a semi-empirical description of the eddy-shedding at a slit-type wave absorber. We investigated the reflection coefficients over a wide frequency range for a vertical slit-type wave absorber both with and without a solid rear wall. Model test was conducted at KRISO' s two dimensional wave tank to validate the theoretical results. It is found that the agreement between theoretical results and experimental data is surprisingly good. We found that the wave absorbing system using a vertical slit plate has sufficient potentials for breakwaters for ocean development.

  • Semiconductor piezoresistive type vibration sensor was fabricated by using semiconductor process and micromachining technology. To measure the micro electromagnetic force between coil and magnet, fabricated vibration sensor was used. Toapply micro electromagnetic force produced from the micro exciter, small-sized NdFeB permanent magnet was attached on the mass of the fabricated vibration sensor. The measured electromagnetic force are about 5~180dyne when the applied sinusoidal current of 1KHz in the range of 1.5~8mA. The measurement of micro electromagnetic forcewas performed by changing the distance between coil and magnet. Output characteristics of micro electromagnetic force according to the applied coil current were linear. Furthermore, output results were used to get the transfer constant that is important to decide the efficiency and the performance of the coil and magnet.

  • This paper proposes inserted core type of slotless Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) to improve its low thrust density. However, by inserting the core between windings of each phase, detent force is generated and it acts as thrust ripple. Furthermore, linear motors generate end effect making thrust ripple. So, this paper applies the neural network to minimize detent force and to maximize thrust. Also, sub-poles is placed at the end parts of the mover to compensate end effect. To confirm of calculation method's validity, the calculated results are compared with experimental results.

  • A design method of rule-based fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. Three kinds of method for fuzzy modeling presented in this paper include simplified inference (type 1), linear inference (type 2), and modified linear inference (type 3). The fuzzy c-means clustering and modified complex methods are used in order to identify the preise structure and parameter of fuzzy implication rules, respectively and the least square method is utilized for the identification of optimal consequence parameters. Time series data for gas funace and sewage treatment processes are used to evaluate the performances of the proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling.

  • This paper deals with dynamic analysis method of a slotless type permanent magnet linear synchronous motor(PMLSM) using 3-dimensional space harmonic method. The results are good agreement with FEA results because that slotless type PMLSM has simple structure and no saturation of core. And then, Under open-loop control, starting characteristic is analyzed by voltage equation combining with dynamic equation. In order to obtain more accuracy results, this paper use instantaneous back-EMF and thrust instead of back-EMF constant and thrust constant.

  • Three-dimensional flow through a tubular centrifugal fan with airfoil type blades are analyzed using CFX-TASCflow. Standard k - $\epsilon$ model and k - $\omega$ model are used as turbulence closures. The numerical schemes for convetion terms, i.e., Upwind Differencing Scheme(UDS), Mass Weighted Skewed Upstream Differencing Scheme(MWS), Linear Profile Skewed Upstream Differencing Scheme(LPS), and Modified Linear Profile Skewed Upstream Differencing Scheme(MLPS) are also tested. And, the performance of these schemes coupled with two turbulence models are evaluated. Computational static pressure distributions are compared with experimental data obtained in this work.

  • VSS identification approach is based on following concept, i.e. while in sliding motion, the switching of control inputs refects system uncertainites. Therefore, if there exist some operations that make the information form the switiching control inputs be achievable, then the unknown parameters can be actually identification mechanisms which can fully make use of the available information. Two different types of VSS identifiers are taken into consideration. The first type uses adjustable model whose structure is similar to that of identified systems. From the viewpoint of contro, this type of VSS identifiers may be regraded as direct identifier vecause the identified system is handled as an open loop. On the other hand, if the identified system is controlable in the sense of VSS(sliding mode can be generated through chosing control inputs), the second type of VSS identifier, the indirect VSS identifier, can be constructed according to the linerized system strucutre while staying in sliding mode. Therefroe it can be applied to some nonlinear systems which are not linear in parametric space by general identification algorithms, whereas linear in parametric space when sliding mode is existed.

  • To predict rolling performance for a barge-type FPSO, the evaluation of correct nonlinear roll damping is critical. The square section of FPSO causes a considerable viscous damping effect. Free roll decay tests were carried out to estimate nonlinear roll damping for a barge-type FPSO, under three different conditions. The roll motion RAO was deduced from model tests in the wave condition of the wideband spectrum. In numerical calculation, the quadratic damping was considered as equivalent linear damping, using the results of free roll decay test. Tested roll performance in the JONSWAP wave spectrum was compared with numerical results. These two results shaw good agreement, in spite of the proximity of peak wave period and roll natural period.
