  • Rainfall is the most basic input data to analyze the hydrologic system. When we measure the rainfall data, the rainfall data can be missing due to various reasons. Therefore, various interpolation methods are available for compensating the missing data. However, the interpolation methods were used without considering their applicability and accuracy. This study compares the interpolation methods such as the arithmetic mean method, normal ratio method, modified normal ratio method, inverse distance method, linear programming, Kriging method to estimate the existing rainfall correction method.

  • This research aims to develop Look Ahead position interpolation algorithm for small size CNC machine controlled by PC based controller. Look Ahead scheme can process a bundle of CNC's linear interpolation commands simultaneously, which reduces acceleration and deceleration time within single linear interpolation command. The algorithm is derived as simple analytical form which can be adapted to PC based CNC system by C language programming. The performance of the algorithm was verified by tail stock machining G codes experimentally. The average traverse speed of the CNC machine was increased by 27.5% and the total traverse time also reduced by 27.2% with the Look Ahead scheme.

  • Our aim is to construct Hermite-type exponentially fitted interpolation formulas that use not only the pointwise values of an 𝜔-dependent function f but also the values of its first derivative at three unequally spaced nodes. The function f is of the form, f(x) = g1(x) cos(𝜔x) + g2(x) sin(𝜔x), x ∈ [a, b], where g1 and g2 are smooth enough to be well approximated by polynomials. To achieve such an aim, we first present Hermite-type exponentially fitted interpolation formulas IN built on the foundation using N unequally spaced nodes. Then the coefficients of IN are determined by solving a linear system, and some of the properties of these coefficients are obtained. When N is 2 or 3, some results are obtained with respect to the determinant of the coefficient matrix of the linear system which is associated with IN. For N = 3, the errors for IN are approached theoretically and they are compared numerically with the errors for other interpolation formulas.

  • This paper presents a linear path control algorithm for NeuroMate robot in a skull drilling system. For the path control inverse kinematics of the robot is analyzed and a linear interpolation algorithm is presented. A geometric approach is used for solving inverse kinematic equations for the robot. Four feasible solutions are found through the approach. The approach gives geometric insights for selecting the best solution from the feasible solutions. The presented linear interpolation algorithm computes a next position considering current velocity and remaining distance to the target position. Presented algorithm is implemented and tested in a skull drilling system.

  • NC (Numerical Control) code for the tool path needs to be generated efficiently for machining of free form pockets with arbitrary wall geometry on a three axis CNC machine. The unified rough and finish cut algorithm and the tool motion is graphically simulated in Part 1. In this paper, a grid based 3D navigation algorithm simulated in Part 1 for generating NC tool path data for both linear interpolation and a combination of linear and circular interpolation for three-axis CNC milling of general pockets with sculptured bottom surfaces is experimentally performed and verified.

  • The meteorological data of 1 hour interval are required to write a typical weather data for building energy simulation. However, many meterological data are missing and the interpolation method to recover the missing data is required. Especially, lots of meterological data are replicated by linear interpolation method because the changes are not significant. While, the wind velocity fluctuates with the time or locations, so linear interpolation method is not appropriate in interpolation of the wind velocity data. In this study, three interpolation methods, using surrounding wind velocity data, Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW), Revised Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW-r), were analyzed considering the characteristics of wind velocity. The Revised Inverse Distance Weighting method, proposed in this study, showed the highest reliability in restoration of the wind velocity data among the analyzed methods.

  • These days, Uncooled IR Systems are more popular in the area of defense and aerospace than before. Uncooled IR Systems are widely used as core technology for making unmanned systems and detecting enemy objects during the day and night in the distance. Recently, researches on TEC-less IRFPA have been increased to minimize the power consumption and to make a smaller system than before. For this, it needs to find adequate NUC(Non-Uniformity Correction) coefficients as FPA(Focal Plane Array) temperature changes. In this paper, we propose a new NUC coefficient estimating technique, DCCE-LI(Dynamic Calibration Coefficients Estimation with Linear Interpolation), for TEC-less IRFPA. It is based on a linear interpolation method and it can estimate NUC coefficients in real-time. So, by testing and evaluating it with some IR images, we conclude that the quality of IR images using proposed method is better than applying static coefficients.

  • The tool path needs to be determined in an efficient manner to generate the final NC (numerical control) code for efficient machining. This is particularly important in machining free form pockets with an arbitrary wall geometry on a three-axis CNC machine. Many CAD/CAM systems use linear interpolation to generate NC tool paths for curved surfaces. However, this needs to be modified to improve the smoothness of the machined bottom surface, reduce machining time and CL (cutter location) file size. Curved machining can be a solution to reduce these problems. The unified rough and finish cut algerian and the tool motion is graphically simulated. In this paper, a grid based 3D navigation algorithm for generating NC tool path data for both linear interpolation and a combination of linear and circular interpolation for three-axis CNC milling of general pockets with sculptured bottom surfaces is developed.

  • It is necessary to employ the interpolation technique to resolve problems, which are associated with the characteristic locus in time-distance space, in the unsteady analysis of pipe flow. Various interpolation methods such as linear timeline interpolation, linear spaceline interpolation, wave speed adjustment, cubic spaceline interpolation and cubic timeline interpolation have been suggested and tested to investigate the interpolation error. Performance of various interpolation techniques was evaluated both a single pipeline and a complex one. The range of error was calculated as the courant number varied between 0 and 1 in a single pipeline. Reorganization of computational element and proper selection of interpolation method are found to be prerequisites for the effective computation of unsteady analysis.
