3D Line Segment Detection using a New Hybrid Stereo Matching Technique (새로운 하이브리드 스테레오 정합기법에 의한 3차원 선소추출)

  • We present a new hybrid stereo matching technique in terms of the co-operation of area-based stereo and feature-based stereo. The core of our technique is that feature matching is carried out by the reference of the disparity evaluated by area-based stereo. Since the reference of the disparity can significantly reduce the number of feature matching combinations, feature matching error can be drastically minimized. One requirement of the disparity to be referenced is that it should be reliable to be used in feature matching. To measure the reliability of the disparity, in this paper, we employ the self-consistency of the disunity Our suggested technique is applied to the detection of 3D line segments by 2D line matching using our hybrid stereo matching, which can be efficiently utilized in the generation of the rooftop model from urban imagery. We carry out the experiments on our hybrid stereo matching scheme. We generate synthetic images by photo-realistic simulation on Avenches data set of Ascona aerial images. Experimental results indicate that the extracted 3D line segments have an average error of 0.5m and verify our proposed scheme. In order to apply our method to the generation of 3D model in urban imagery, we carry out Preliminary experiments for rooftop generation. Since occlusions are occurred around the outlines of buildings, we experimentally suggested multi-image hybrid stereo system, based on the fusion of 3D line segments. In terms of the simple domain-specific 3D grouping scheme, we notice that an accurate 3D rooftop model can be generated. In this context, we expect that an extended 3D grouping scheme using our hybrid technique can be efficiently applied to the construction of 3D models with more general types of building rooftops.

Development of a Pulley-type Tensioning Device (도르래식 장력조정장치 개발)

  • In the electrical railway, the increase of tensions in an overhead contact lines is essential to speed-up of train, because current collection quality largely depends on the ratio of a wave propagation speed to a train speed. For Kyungbu high-speed line, a pulley-type tensioning device is required to have a tension variation of maximum 3%. Therefore we developed a pulley-type tensioning device in order to meet tension variation requirement of the high-speed tensioning device. To verify the performance of the developed device, a performance test, overload test and failure test were carried out according to the factory test procedure of the Kyung-Bu High-speed line. Furthermore, we also performed reliability performance through not only a fatigue test in a factory, but also on-line verification test in Chungbuk line for over 1 year. These tests verified that the tensioning device had applicability to a main line.

  • Electric fuel sender fur the vehicle fuel gauge system was designed and fabricated based on the CPW(Co-Planer Waveguide) transmission line theory. It is applied on this system that characteristic impedance of RF transmission line can be varied by the surrounded material of the line. By the characteristic impedance owing the level of gasoline or diesel fuel in vehicle fuel tank, CPW line has corresponding reflected signal as much as changed impedance. Detected signal is amplified, and delivered to fuel indicator into cluster unit on dash board. Conventional floating mechanical buoy level gauge has several defects as low reliability and high break down rate by mechanical operation, and has not good linearity for the fuel level difference. CPW line with electric circuits are constructed on 1.6 mm thickness epoxy substrate, and measurement shows that this system has more accurate level and better linearity than conventional mechanical system. New electric fuel sender which has good productivity with long lifetime and low-in-cost by the SMT chip assembling could be replaced this system with conventional floating buoy system.

  • One of a large proportion among the causes of fire is electrical factors, and of fire by electric factors, the accident which accounted for over certain percentage is electric leakage and ground fault. In order to reduce the electric leakage and ground fault, the technical guidelines on the protection of ground fault in the low-voltage electrical line (KECG 1091-2011) was amended for reflecting recent international standard, IEC 60364-4-41, and new conservation methods, which improved the reliability by recovering the facility's all-time use operation and breakdown defect, was on the rise. Accordingly, in this paper, after grasping the fire's status for last 10 years and analyzing the risk of electrical fires, and as a way to improve the electric leakage and ground fault accident which accounted for more than certain percentage, the revision of KECG 1091-2011 will be reviewed. And then, after applying to the preventive conservation methods in order to enhance the protection reliability of electric leakage and ground fault detection, the problems at issue routine inspection scheme and durable years scheme in time-scheduled conservation method are listed, along with suggestion of the problem-solving scheme, and the leakage current integrated monitoring systems and digital electric leakage devices by status monitor conservation method will be proposed.

  • This paper deals with the design of conductor stringing of KEPCO 765kV transmission line. The main subject in the design of conductor stringing is the determination on what the stringing tension is. According to the stringing tension, the weight and height of towers and the strength necessary for conductor, hardware, insulator vary, and the construction cost and the reliability of tower are affected largely. Therefore, in order to determine the optimum condition for stringing conductors, We appraised various items : estimation of economic comparision, strength appraisal of conductor, hardware, insulator, etc. After studying these entirely, we present the condition of condutor stringing for KEPCO 765kV transmission line.

  • The pantograph-overhead contact line system is an interface that supplies power to high-speed trains used in many countries including Korea. Due to the fact that power is supplied through direct contact between contact wires and contact strips, wear may occur, increasing the possibility of accidents over periods of time. Therefore, there is a need to establish methods of effectively extracting safety related parameters. In this paper, an image processing based method that calculates and draws graphs of a pantograph's dynamic stagger is proposed. To assess reliability, the results were compared with data collected from conventional maintenance vehicles.

A Study on the on-line fast Automatic Contingency Selection (온라인 고속 상정사고 선택에 관한 연구)

  • In the on-line security analysis of power system, Automatic Contingency Selection (ACS) is commonly used to reduce the number of contingency cases which will be evaluated in detail. This paper describes a fast and reliable ACS method which adopts DC load flow in conjunction with compensation theorem to improve execution time, and applies severity performance index, divided on each limit level for considering overload rate, to make reliable contingency ranking. The method has been tested in IEEE 25 bus system and KEPCO 130 bus actual power system. The results of these tests verify its superiority to both the execution time and reliability, and illustrate its effectiveness for the practical use.

  • This present paper describes concepts of the real-time operation monitoring system as a tool for enhancing the reliability and raising the availability of the first Korea IGCC (Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle) power plant. This system consists of five (5) modules : (1) Data Validation Module, (2) Performance Calculation Module (3) Performance Diagnostic Module, (4) Trip Information Module, and (5) Statistics Analysis Module. Among these modules, Performance Calculation Module is explained in more detail. The objective of this module is to continuously evaluate the degradation (decrease in performance) of the IGCC plant and its equipment in order to provide plant operators additional information to help them identify problems, improve performance.

  • As the on-board electric devices determine the performances of vehicles, production of reliable devices is important. To keep the reliability of devices constant, management of performance evaluation of the on-board devices is crucial. Because temperature bas a serious effect on failures of the components of the devices, its measurement is the first step for good management. In this study, we described performance characteristics of domestic auxiliary block developed through G7 project. We measured the performances of auxiliary block during test running by the developed on-line measurement system. After we save the input real-time data from each signal of Korean High Speed Train through the network line, we can acquire necessary information through Post-Processing program. We verify the auxiliary converter characteristics of Korean High Speed Train by this system.

  • To meet the requirements of high performance and reliability as a industrial motor drive, we developed an integrated oil-line fault diagnosis and monitoring system which consists of DSP-based controller and PC-based MMI (Man-machine interface) program. The dedicated controller performs real-lime fault detections and protections. The MMI program monitors the on-line fault status of the drive system and offers full explanations of the fault name(WHAT?), deducible causes of the fault operation(WHY?), and chock points (HOW?) based upon the experiences of the expert. Also the TRACE data which was stored just before and after the accident can be scrutinized using MMI tools.
