A Experimental Study on Artificial Illumination Control System Illuminated by Daylighting (자연채광을 이용한 인공조명의 제어방법에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • It is very important and necessary to predict luminous enviroment in an interior space. This paper has described about energy saving and evaluated interior visual environment in a office building having on/off turning control lighting system utilizing daylight. In order to predict the interior varior illumination distribution, the scale model was made and examined under various conditions, such ad difference of window glass, and color pattern of wall, floor, and also ceiling lighting system type. This paper suggests that basic fundamental data of lighting design performance in the concept and schematic stages of design.

  • This paper represents the electric energy saving using light control system. Without Light Control System(LCS), it is very hard to classify the amount of electric energy saving for lighting, since it is determined by the end-user's preference in times. Typical LCS has an fixed algorithm to control each light's intensity by ON/Off Control, Step Control, or Dimming Control. We have studied the electric energy saving effect in a LCS equiped building with natural lighting. The electric power consumption at the peak power consumption time with LCS reduced up to 65% of the non-controled case.

  • The ZigBee communication method, which is the most frequently applied to the LED lighting control system, has drawbacks of low-speed and low-capacity, and the communication failure possibility due to environmental influences is on the rise. Therefore, it is important to secure the communication reliability by applying an integrated interface with a wire-wireless dual-network. This paper developed a communication module, which has a platform converging and combining the ZigBee of USN environments with the PLC of power line communication environments, to implement a dualized communication interface system supporting the wire-wireless integrated protocol, and implemented a wire-wireless networking device and a control system software technology. As a result, it was automatically switched into the PLC communication within 4.4 seconds on average when there was an access failure in the ZigBee communication network, so a reliable communication network was built.

  • Lighting control switches based on the power line communication technology are developed and extended to incorporate dimming control to provide energy saving and appropriate illumination. The developed switch uses a general purpose microprocessor and associated electronics. Both the power line communication and the dimming function are implemented in one microprocessor, and it enables the low price commercialization. The frequency of the carrier was set at 250kHz considering the transmission data length and signal attenuation in power lines. Tests on prototypes in an low-voltage power lines have shown that the switches have a robust operation characteristics with the length of power lines and the variation of load capacities.

  • This paper is a study on the development of optimal control system for lighting and air conditioning equipment to save the energy in campus environment. In the case of controling system developed through this research, lighting and air conditioner are controlled by both information on the number of people entering and leaving the room through the motion sensor and image processing, and the information on temperature and humidity. In addition, energy saving is enabled by the results that are controlled through data integration monitoring and command execution functions according to the control signals.

  • We investigate a fog-detection CCT control system using low deck lighting as a solution to the forward visibility of pole-type street lamps employed on existing roads. The lighting standards were met with a light source that has less compared with those of pole-type street lamps. The results show that the transmission rate was increased by changing the color temperature by automatically recognizing fog in bad weather and minimizing the phenomenon of lighting. In addition, it was allowed to create a safer and more comfortable driving environment for drivers owing to flicker or light pollution of existing pole-type street lamps. As a result, if lighting is used at a lower level than pole-type street lamps, the accident rate caused by securing the driver's forward visibility can be reduced sharply and existing problems can be resolved.

  • Recently, a wide range of products incorporating cutting-edge technology are being introduced in various sectors of design. Belkin's WeMo or Phillips' Hue are representative examples. In this context, the color-responsive lighting bookcase is a design product that would satisfy the needs of contemporary consumers who seek entertainment in their purchases. By installing lightings that change color according to the user's behavior, this design reconceptualizes the bookcase as a source of entertainment rather than a mundane object of household furnishing. The lighting apparatus can be detached and reattached, serving as stand-alone equipment. The lighting bookcase is modularized, comprising extensions equipped with MCU (Micro Controller Unit), RGB LED and color sensors. The bookcase as a whole is extendable towards four directions up to nine units with the lighting bookcase at the center. The extended, multiple lighting bookcases are wired to receive power from the main bookcase, and are equipped with RGB LEDs but not with MCUs or color sensors. Receiving power and color signals from the main lighting bookcase, the sub-bookcases feature changing shades of color. Also, it includes IoT(internet of Things). This study is a proposal of a design product, modularized to control the shades of the bookcase lighting using these sensors.

  • Light emitting diode(LED) lighting has been applied various industry fields because of its high efficiency, low power consumption, long life time, and environment friendly characteristics. Generally, LED lighting needs a driver to maintain constant current. Most popular driver is the switching converter. In the converter, there are several electrolytic capacitors. However the lifespan of the electrolytic capacitor is much shorter than LED. Therefore the lifespan of LED lighting with electrolytic capacitor is decreased. Also, LED lighting needs dimming control because of various needs and energy saving. This paper presents the dimmable single-stage PFC DCM flyback converter without electrolytic capacitor and parallel LC resonant filter for reducing 120[Hz] ripple on the output. The type 2 controller is used to maintain constant current and the analog dimming control is used. The proposed converter is verified through simulation and experimental works.

  • There are many plans of the high-rise buildings these days in domestic and will be constructed from now on. It is required to develop energy saving techniques immediately because the high-rise buildings consume a lot of energy. The most effective energy savings method is the application of the efficient lighting designs and fixtures. The purpose of this study is to analyze a trend of lighting design, fixture and control system between overseas and domestic. It can be used the guide line for the high-rise buildings in domestic application.

Fast Device Discovery for Remote Device Management in Lighting Control Networks

  • The Remote Device Management (RDM) protocol is used to manage the devices in the lighting control networks. RDM provides bi-directional communications between a controller and many lighting devices over the DMX512-A network. In RDM, using a simple binary search scheme, which is based on the 48-bit unique ID (UID) of each device, discovers the lighting devices. However, the existing binary search scheme tends to require a large delay in the device discovery process. In this paper, we propose a novel partition-based discovery scheme for fast device discovery in RDM. In the proposed scheme, all devices are divided into several partitions as per the device UID, and the controller performs device discovery for each partition by configuring a response timer that each device will use. From numerical simulations, we can see that there is an optimal number of partitions to minimize the device discovery time for a given number of devices in the proposed scheme, and also that the proposed partition-based scheme can reduce the device discovery time, as compared to the existing binary search scheme.
