This study sought to investigate the characteristics of cellular concrete, such as porosity, strength and density, according to the cell addition rate. Based on the result, it examined the application to a cellular concrete panel. Porosity was found to increase according to the cell addition rate, measuring continuous porosity of 42% and 47%, and total porosity of 61% and 66%. In terms of cell addition rate, measurements were 7% and 11% respectively. Compressive strength represented 5.0MPa, 3.8MPa and 2.8 MPa in terms of 7%, 9% and 11% respectively, decreasing 1 MPa of strength according to every 2% increase of cell addition rate. Density showed 0.55, 0.44 and 0.36 in terms of 7%, 9% and 11% respectively, decreasing 1.0 MPa according to every 2% increase of cell addition rate proportionally. In addition the sandwich panel of cellular concrete which was fabricated during this research was found to be relatively heavy and non-flammable with an excellent strength of 4.0 MPa. Compared with a light concrete panel, considering the compressive strength that accountsfor 10 MPa, it appeared relatively low in strength. However it would be excellent for application due to the light density of only 0.4 MPa.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the propriety of making use of the light-cured resin base in indirect bracket bonding technique by study of shear bond strength and failure patterns according to the material of resin base. Metal brackets were bonded to the stone models of specimens involving bovine lower incisor with chemical-cured(Excel), light-cured(Light-Bond) and thermal-cured(Therma-Cure) resin. They were transferred to the specimens and bonded using sealant. The shear bond strength was tested on Instron. After bracket removal, the bracket base was examined and assessed with the adhesive remnant index(ARI). The results were as follows : 1. No significant differences in shear bond strength were found among the three groups (P>0.05). 2. No significant differences in ARI score were found among the three groups (P>0.05). The above results suggest that light-cured resin base in addition to chemical-cured and thermal-cured resin bases is useful in the indirect bonding technique.
This study was conducted to investigate the physical and optical properties of polypropylene and polyester thermal curtains, in which tensile strength, heat reservance and light transmission of two different materials were measured. The results from this study are as follows. 1. The tensile weight of different materials were ranged from 3.4kg to 13.4kg, according to the thickness of materials, but that no difference in the tensile strength was appeared between the two materials. The Elongation of polypropylene materials and the tensile weight and strength of polyester materials were greater than any other materials. 2. The light transmittances of two materials were ranged from 50.3% to 81.7 %, light transmittances in polypropylene were higher by 20-30%,than those in polyester. 3. The heat reservances of two materials were ranged from 18.2% to 41.2%, in which polypropylene showed better performance than polyester. 4. From the results of the test, the polypropylene thermal material was better in elongation, heat reservances and light transmittances, but polyester thermal material was better in tensile strength and light isolation than the other material.

Amphoteric polymers have brought to papermakers' attention gradually. In this paper, a series of amphoteric starches with different cationic and anionic degree of substitution (DS) are prepared. Better product has been selected and used under different condition. As retention and drainage aids, amphoteric starches were used in shorter fiber length, weak strength and poor drainage bleached AQ-Soda wheat straw pulp. In neutral and alkaline papermaking system, when amphoteric starches contain 0.024-0.026 anionic degree of substitution (DS), it is shown that the higher the cationic degree of substitution (DS) in amphoteric starches, the better the filler retention. The filler retention is improved 12.5%, 30.3%, and 35.1% and 32.5% respectively by adding 1% amphoteric starch LS-L2 -1 (0.034), LS-L2-2 (0.040), LS-L2-3 (0.047) and LS-L2-4 (0.052). But the strength of handsheets if affected a little. By adding 2% Al2 (SO4)3 and 1.5% LS-L2-3 at pH 7.5, filler retention can be improved from 38% to 80%, and breaking length of sheet only decreases 3.2%. As dry strengthening aids, amphoteric starches were used in eucalyptus APMP. Amphoteric starches are used in eucalyptus APMP. The amphoteric starch LS-L2-2 is better dry strength aid. Adding 1% LS-L2-2 can improve breaking length 24.5%, burst index 42.9%, tear index 38.8%, folding endurance and density of the handsheets.
In this study, the carbody design of the rubber tired AGT(Automated Guide-way Transit System) under development by KRRI was numerically analysed to evaluate its structural strength according to the standard specifications for Korean LRT (Light Rail Transit). The numerical results showed that the detail design of the carbody was strong enough to satisfy the specifications with respect to the axial compression strength, the vertical strength and the vertical stiffness(natural frequency). However, the carbody design had some problems on the fatigue strength by twist loadings. So, it was recommended that the carbody design should be modified to improve the twisting strength by reinforcing the front end structures.

As carbon fiber is a light-weight materials, high tensile strength and durability compared with rebar, the retrofitting method for RC structures using carbon fiber sheet (CFS) must be use widely. In this paper, the tensile strength test for carbon fiber sheet variable of CF's weight and elastic modulus to evaluate the design tensile strength of carbon fiber sheet which is needed for the strengthening design of CFS and the calculation of strengthening effect. As a result, the design tensile strength of CFS can be calculate using the effect coefficient of strengthening(α) of CFS, the average tensile strength of CFS and the standard deviation of CFS(equation 5)

Recently some studies have shown that low light intensity followed by final cure at high light intensity may result in a smaller marginal gap and may be no negative effect on material properties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of the initial cure with low intensity on the shear bond strength of dentin and the microhardness of composite resin. Twenty intact bovine teeth were prepared for shear bond strength test and each tooth sectioned to three specimens. The specimens were randomly divided into three groups according to the light intensity and curing time as follows; Group I. $450mmW/cm^2$ 40sec Group II. $300mmW/cm^2$ 20sec and $600mmW/cm^2$ 20sec Gropu III. $250mmW/cm^2$ 20sec and $450mmW/cm^2$ 20sec. Samples of each group were restored with light-cured composite resin after dentin bonding and then the shear bond strength of each specimen were measured using universal testing machine. Ten resin specimens per group were prepared. After 24 hours, the Vickers microhardness value was measured at the top and bottom surfaces. The result are as follows; 1. Mean value of low initial intensity groups(II, III) were higher than the control group(I) in shear bond strength, but no significant difference could be found. 2. No significant difference could be found between three groups in microhardness.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to observe the microstructural changes of surface in the specimens, performing the shear bond strength testing. The currently most used non-precious alloys are nickel-chromium based alloys with or without beryllium. However, their biocompatibility has been questioned concerning possible damages to the health of the patient and professionals involved in the fabrication of prosthesis caused by long exposure to Ni and Be. An option to nickel-chromium alloys is the cobalt-chromium alloy, an alternative that does not sacrifice the physical properties of the metal porcelain systems. Studies in the animals substantially show that the cobalt-chromium alloys are relatively well tolerated, being therefore more biocompatible than the nickel-chromium alloys. Methods: Non-addition Be to nickel-chromium based alloy(Bellabond plus) and cobalt-chromium alloy which has been widely used(Wirobond C) fused with ZEO light porcelain classified control group and cobalt-chromium alloy which is developing alloy of Alphadent company in Korea(Alphadent alloy) fused with ZEO light porcelain classified experimental group. The specimens of $4mm{\times}4mm{\times}0.5mm$ were prepared as-cast and as-opaque to cast body to analyze the mechanical characteristic change, the microstructure of alloy surface. The phase change was used to observe through XRD analysis and OM/SEM was used to observe the surface of specimens as-cast and as-opaque to cast body. Chemical formation of their elements was measured with EDS. Then hardness was measured with Micro Vicker's hardness tester. Shear bond strength test thirty specimens of $10mm{\times}10mm{\times}2mm$ was prepared, veneered, 3mm high and 3mm in diameter, over the alloy specimens. The shear bond strength test was performed in a universal testing machine(UTM) with a cross head speed of 0.5mm/min. Ultimate shear bond strength data were analyzed with one-way ANOVA and the Scheffe's test (P<0.05). Within the limits of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: The X-ray diffraction analysis results for the as-cast and as-opaque specimens showed that the major relative intensity of Bellabond plus alloy were changed smaller than Wirobond C and Alphadent Co-Cr based alloys. Results: Microstructural analysis results for the opaque specimens showed all the alloys increased carbides and precipitation(PPT). Alphadent Co-Cr based alloy showed the carbides of lamellar type. The Vickers hardness results for the opaque specimens showed Wirobond C and Alphadent Co-Cr based alloys were increaser than before ascast, but Bellabond plus alloy relatively decreased. The mean shear bond strengths (MPa) were: 33.11 for Wirobond C/ZEO light; 25.00 for Alphadent Co-Cr alloy/ZEO light; 18.02 for Bellabond plus/ZEO light. Conclusion: The mean shear bond strengths for Co-Cr and Ni-Cr based alloy were significantly different. But the all groups showed metal-metal oxide modes in shear bond strengths test at the interface.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mechanical properties of several dual-cure cements by different curing modes. Materials and Methods: One resin-modified glass ionomer cement (FujiCEM 2), two conventional dual-cure resin cements (RelyX ARC, Multilink N), and two dual-cure self-adhesive resin cements (RelyX U200, G-CEM LinkAce) were used. To evaluate the influence of the curing methods, each cements divided into four conditions (n = 20); Condition 1: self-curing for 10 minutes, Condition 2: immediate after 20 seconds light-curing, Condition 3: 24 hours after self-curing, Condition 4: 24 hours after light-curing. The compressive strength and diametral tensile strength were measured with a universal testing machine. All data were statistically analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA and Scheffe's test. Results: The results showed the compressive strength and diametral tensile strength after 24 hours in all curing modes were higher than immediate except RelyX ARC light-cured and Multilink N light-cured. The FujiCEM 2 showed lowest values (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The outcome was cement-depend, but there is no significant difference about compressive strength and diametral tensile strength between dual-cure self-adhesive resin cements and conventional resin cements. And this result will be used as a base line data selecting resin cement for favorable long-term prognosis.
