영산호 식물플랑크톤 변동에 대한 영양염과 광 제한의 상대적 평가 (Assessment of Nutrient and Light Limitation of Phytoplankton in the Youngsan Lake)

  • 담수호인 영산호의 식물플랑크톤에 대한 광 제한과 영양염 제한의 영향을 파악하기 위해 2003년 3월부터 2004년 4월까지 (11월~12월제외) 월별조사를 실시하였다. 플랑크톤의 크기를 대형 (net-size)과 소형 (nano-size)으로 구분하여 콜로로필, pheopigment ratio를 측정하였고 물리화학적 환경특성을 측정하였다. 또한 광 제한 지수와 영양염 제한 지수를 산정하기 위해 기존 문헌의 수식을 이용하였다. 식물플랑크톤은 대형과 소형 모두 풍수기 특히 8월에는 낮은 현존량을 보였고 나머지 계절에 간헐적으로 현존량이 증가하는 형태를 보였다. 일조시간은 풍수기에 짧았고 갈수기에 증가하였고, 영양염 특히 인산염과 암모니아는 2004년 봄철에 상당 폭 증가하였다. 광 제한 8월에 최소값(0.01)을 기록하였고, 영양염 제한 지수는 5월과 9월을 제외하고 다소 높은 지수(>0.4)를 나타냈다. 영산호는 인곤 호소들보다 영양염 농도가 높은 점을 고려했을 때, 영양염 제한보다는 광 제한이 식물플랑크톤의 성장에 더 영향을 미칠 것으로 사료된다. 공간적으로는 광 제한 지수는 하류로 갈수록 증가하였지만 영양염 제한 지수는 큰 변동을 보이지 않았다. 상관성 분석에서 net-pheopigment index는 광 제한 지수 및 영양염 제한 지수와 음의 상관관계, nano-pheopigments index는 제한 지수들과 양의 상관관계를 보여 환경악화로 인한 영향이 식물플랑크톤의 크기별로 상이하게 나타날 수 있는 가능성을 보여준다.

4차원 Light Field 영상에서 Dictionary Learning 기반 초해상도 알고리즘 (Dictionary Learning based Superresolution on 4D Light Field Images)

  • Light field 카메라를 이용하여 영상을 취득한 후 다양한 응용 프로그램으로 확장이 가능한 4차원 light field 영상은 일반적인 2차원 공간영역(spatial domain)과 추가적인 2차원 각영역(angular domain)으로 구성된다. 그러나 이러한 4차원 light field 영상을 유한한 해상도를 가진 2차원 CMOS 센서로 취득하므로 저해상도의 제약이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 4차원 light field 영상이 가지는 해상도 제약 조건을 해결하기 위하여, 4차원 light field 영상에 적합한 딕셔너리 학습 기반(dictionary learning-based) 초해상도(superresolution) 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 4차원 light field 영상으로부터 추출한 많은 수의 4차원 패치(patch)들을 바탕으로 딕셔너리를 구성 및 훈련하며, 학습된 딕셔너리를 바탕으로 저해상도 입력 영상의 해상도를 향상시키는 과정을 수행한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 공간영역과 각영역의 해상도를 동시에 각각 2배 향상시킨다. 실험에 사용된 영상은 상용 light field 카메라인 Lytro에서 취득하였고 기존의 알고리즘과의 비교를 통해 제안하는 알고리즘의 우수성을 검증한다.

  • Dynamic model of the rubber-tired AGT light rail vehicle. various load and boundary conditions between vehicle and infrastructures(running track. guidance rail) were defined to analyze vehicular dynamic behaviors occurred by inclement weather(strong wind and earthquake). The dynamic analysis were performed by using a commercialized software RecurDyn. whose results for the magnitudes of wind and earthquake showed the resultant forces and accelerations between car body and bogie, or bogie guidance frame and infrastructures in the various track conditions(straight or curved tracks) and train velocities. Based on these results, speed limitation of tile vehicle were proposed to ensure system stability and passengers safety.

SEC/Light Scattering Analysis of Multicomponent Polymer Systems

  • We have shown several examples of characterization of multicomponent polymer systems by size exclusion chromatography coupled with a light scattering detector. Although SEC cannot provide a complete information for such systems due to its intrinsic limitation, one can extend its capability by combining multiple detection in order to get relevant information to some extent.

  • The Dielectric Barrier micro-hollow cathode structure and it's upper pD limitation are investigated for determining of optimum hollow cathode discharge condition. In experiment, discharge is sustained by AC diriving and investigated gas is pure Xe. From Experiment, Optimum pD range is lower than 0.72 torr.cm at pure Xe and Cu cathode.

Spatio-temporal variabilities of nutrients and chlorophyll, and the trophic state index deviations on the relation of nutrients-chlorophyll-light availability

  • The object of this study was to determine long-term temporal and spatial patterns of nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus), suspended solids, and chlorophyll (Chl) in Chungju Reservoir, based on the dataset of 1992 - 2013, and then to develop the empirical models of nutrient-Chl for predicting the eutrophication of the reservoir. Concentrations of total nitrogen (TN) and total phosphorus (TP) were largely affected by an intensity of Asian monsoon and the longitudinal structure of riverine (Rz), transition (Tz), and lacustrine zone (Lz). This system was nitrogen-rich system and phosphorus contents in the water were relatively low, implying a P-limiting system. Regression analysis for empirical model, however, showed that Chl had a weak linear relation with TP or TN, and this was mainly associated with turbid, and nutrient-rich inflows in the system. The weak relation was associated with non-algal light attenuation coefficients (Kna), which is inversely related water residence time. Thus, values of Chl had negative functional relation (R2 = 0.25, p < 0.001) with nonalgal light attenuation. Thus, the low chlorophyll at a given TP indicated a light-limiting for phytoplankton growth and total suspended solids (TSS) was highly correlated (R2 = 0.94, p < 0.001) with non-algal light attenuation. The relations of Trophic State Index (TSI) indicated that phosphorus limitation was weak [TSI (Chl) - TSI (TP) < 0; TSI (SD) - TSI (Chl) > 0] and the effects of zooplankton grazing were also minor [TSI (Chl) - TSI (TP) > 0; TSI (SD) - TSI (Chl) > 0].

  • The backlight unit(BLU) is used as a light source of TFT liquid-crystalline-display (TFT-LCD) module. In this backlight unit, one of important components is the light guide, which is usually made of transparent polymers. Currently the screen-printing method is mainly used for the light guide as a manufacturing process. However, it has limitation to the flexibility of three-dimensional optical design. In the present paper a new alternative manufacturing method for the light guide with low-cost is proposed. This manufacturing method is named as direct surface forming (DSF), which is very similar to the well-known hot embossing except for partial contact between mold and substrate. The results of this new manufacturing method are presented in terms of processing condition, dimensional accuracy, productivity, etc.

  • Complete blood cell count(CBC) is a technique that counts leukocytes for each type of blood cell being analyzed. The principle is that laser is incident to ex vivo flowing leukocytes in a microcapillary tube and scattered light occurs by laser and leukocytes. By collecting the scattered light, we can count the types of cells because different cells generate different light-scattering patterns. However, the technique has an intrinsic limitation, scattering pattern is shown in a wide range region in the resulting, which makes it difficult to accurate analyze and use fluorescent dyes. To overcome this limitation, a new design of CBC with a dual laser, which irradiates with orthogonal angles for collecting quad-scattering information was proposed. Before development, the scattering difference depending on wavelength must be investigated to only catch up to the scattered signal by angles. Some studies, which focused on simple particles, have been conducted to theoretically and experimentally investigate different scatterings by wavelength. In this study, we propose an optical system for measuring scattered light and investigate a complex particle. As a result, the green laser made strong scattering signals in both the forward and side direction: 10% and 30%, respectively.

  • The exploitable efficiency of UHP is very important in a projection system. We always use lens array for light shaping and energy distribution transformation in conventional projection system. Because of the limitation of arc gap and F/# of elements, the utilize efficiency is always dismal. In this paper we try to bring out a new method to reduce the sparkle formed on the PS converter and enhance the system efficiency.
