  • We investigated the influence of negative emotion such as state-trait anxiety and depression and working memory (WM) on Foreign Language Vocabulary Learning (FLVL) of South Korean university students. Also, its implications for developing contents for FLVL were discerned. To do so, state-trait anxiety and depression inventories as well as four kinds of WM test were performed for 132 undergraduate students. Participants also had two semantic learning sessions for Swahili words. The mean scores of negative emotions were normal level. The results of structural equation modeling (SEM) showed that there was no effect of negative emotion on FLVL, while direct effects of the negative emotion on WM and the WM on FLVL were significant. Such results suggested that FLVL would be weakened, with the result that WM had been impaired by negative emotions. These outcomes suggested that when developing FLVL content for university students, it is necessary to consider the negative emotions of foreign language learners and to develop the contents for FLVL in the light of WM load.

  • The development of games has brought about the birth of game characters that are visually very realistic. At present, one sees much enthusiasm for giving the characters emotions through such devices as avatars and emoticons. However, in a freely changing environment of games, the devices merely allow for the expression of the value derived from a first input rather than creating expressions of emotion that actively respond to their surroundings. As such, there are as of yet no displays of deep emotions among game characters. In light of this, the present article proposes the 'CROSS(Character Reaction on Specific Situation) Model AE Engine' for game characters in order to develop characters that will actively express action and emotion within the environment of the changing face of games. This is accomplished by classifying the emotional components applicable to game characters based on the OCC model, which is one of the most well known cognitive psychological models. Then, the situation of game playing analysis of the commercialized RPG game is systematized by ontology.

  • The analysis category of Art to Wear was text analyzed from the research material of 100 projects put together by fashion specialist. The conclusion of Art to Wear was comprehended the general features of it were compared and analyzed from a semiotics context. According to this analysis, the formative features of modern Art to Wear is categorized into three different dimensions from a semiotics light. The formative features of modem Art to Wear in the light of syntactic dimension was divided as an open constructed shape of Space Extension, non-typical Deformation, Geometrical Plasticity. The formative features of modem Art to Wear in the light of semantic dimension express symbolic meaning through metaphorical sign. These sign reflect the body image of the life and death and its objective of Abjection, Hybrid of discultural appearance and the image of Hyper-reality, which are features used to comprehend the inner meaning. The formative features of modem Art to Wear in the light of pragmatic dimension divided the artist emotion and meaning system delivered by Emotive Image, the Phatic Image that arouse inner signification and the Poetic Image which contain artistic and aesthetic meaning within it.

  • The objectives of this study is to search for systematic modular design methods for smart photonic sports clothing based on light emitting optical fiber technology related to smart photonic clothing, and to present a variety of modular design models based on optical fiber and light emitting module assembly technology, both of which stand on the basis of body measurements. To achieve the objectives, this paper firstly reviewed the concept of smart photonic clothing and related technologies, and an examination of the concepts of modularization and its designs, as well as examples of modularization used in various fields. To decide the size and attachment point of optical fiber and light emitting modules, the study considered the close connection between modularization and body measurements. Along with body measurements, to derive the most suitable region to attach the optical fiber and light emitting modules, appropriate attachment locations for computing devices and regions which are marginally affected by body movements, were analyzed. On the basis of the results, a modular model of a sports jacket with smart photonic functions was designed and presented, with the focus on the wearer's safety and protection function, which was judged to be the most needed and appropriate function among the three functions of smart photonic clothing related to sports clothing. The results of this study is expected to be useful as basic data for future smart photonic clothing design research.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify human physiological responses to emotional lighting system using LED (light emitting diode) flat lighting. Subjects were ten males in their twenties without medical history to eyes. Colors of LED lighting are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and colorless (white). They were stimulated by LED lighting for 5 minutes. We measured body temperature, heart rate variability (HRV) and electroencephalogram (EEG) before and after color stimulus. In case of EEG analysis, relative power ${\alpha}$ wave ratio decreased in the groups of colorless, red and orange color light. Also, sympathetic nerve was more activated than parasympathetic nerve and the body temperature was increased in the groups of colorless, red, orange, yellow color light. On the other hand, relative power ${\alpha}$ wave ratio increased and parasympathetic nerve was more activated than sympathetic nerve and the body temperature was decreased in the groups of green, blue and purple color light. The results imply that the LED color lighting system in the realistic experiment environment. In the future, studies with compounded both colors and modes according to situation or auditory as nature sound or olfactory as aroma will be required.

  • Concrete, which is the most widely used building material in modern times, has been improved not only in strength but also in structural performance such as increase in toughness and ductility, weight reduction, and improvement in quality of human life. Due to the surge in demand for the building, there is a tendency to be used variously from architectural panel and architecture to interior accessories. In Korea, a light-transmitting concrete, LEFC(Light Emotion Friendly Concrete), that insert plastic rods to stimulate emotional sensation through the combination of light and concrete has developed. In previous research, it was confirmed that the use of a synthetic foam agent rather than an animal foam agent did not cause a fogging phenomenon. In this study, lightweight by applying foaming agent to LEFC and two types of fiber (Nylon Fiber, Polyvinyl Alcohol) were compared to achieve to investigate the fiber to be applied in future. An equation that can predict the loss and adhesion reduction of the concrete section according to the diameter of the rod (5mm, 10mm) and the interval (10mm, 15mm, 20mm) was proposed.

  • Following ISO 20471, in this study, first, two sets of safety clothes and safety vests were made by designing and attaching animal and bird patterns preferred by children to retroreflective films and black fabrics on those fluorescent fabrics and retroreflective materials prescribed by international standards. Second, by mounting a smart photonic device on the safety clothing so that the body can be recognized from a distance even without an ambient light source at night, children can emit three types of light depending on the situation with just one-touch of the button. From a result of comparison with visibility a day and night by dressing a mannequin in the made smart safety clothing, the difference in visibility was evident at night, it was confirmed that we can see the figure of a person even at a distance of approximately 70 m. Therefore, it is expected to contribute to the prevention of traffic and other accidents on the road, as the drivers driving at night or in bad weather can recognize a person from a distance. Third, in case of the energy is exhausted and cannot maintain the stability of the light-emitting function of the optical faber, we can use energy harvesting device, and the light-emitting time will be extended. As a result it comes up to emit light stably for a long time. And this prove that smart photonic safety clothing can also be used for night workers. Therefore, optical fiber safety clothing is expected to be highly wearable not only in real life but also in dark industrial sites due to stable charging by applying the energy harvesting provided by solar cells.

  • Light emitting diode(LED) technology has been increasingly developed and larger color gamut by LED illuminations can be reproduced; therefore more efficient LED lighting design can be accomplished under a consideration of color emotion. Fifty-two LED colors which are uniformly distributed on the uniform chromaticity space are evaluated in terms of fatigueness and preference and their relation to three color-appearance attributes(lightness, chroma and hue) are investigated. As a result, 23 human observers likely to prefer and feel comfortable, when lightness of a given LED color stimulus increases as well as its chroma decreases. The highest fatigueness score is observed in red color series and the most preferred LED color is found in green color series. In addition, fatigueness and preference show a strong negative linear relation and their Pearson correlation is higher than -0.8.
