  • Highly efficient white phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes with a mixed-host structure are developed and the device characteristics are studied. The introduction of a hole-transport-type host (N, N'-dicarbazolyl-3-3-benzen (mCP)) into an electron-transport-type host (m-bis-(triphenylsilyl)benzene (UGH3)) as a mixed-host emissive layer effectively achieves higher current density and lower driving voltage. The peak external quantum and power efficiency with the mixed-host structure improve up to 18.9% and 40.9 lm/W, respectively. Moreover, this mixed-host structure device shows over 30% enhanced performance compared with a single-host structure device at a luminance of 10,000 $cd/m^2$ without any change in the electroluminescence spectra.

  • In this paper, we develop a dust detection sensor system capable of identifying types of dust for an improvement of a robot vacuum cleaner. The dust detection sensor system is composed of a set of infra-red sensors: a single transmitter and multiple receivers. Given the fixed amount of light transmitted from the transmitter, the amount of light coming in multiple receiver sensors varies, depending on the type and density of dust that is passing between the transmitter and the receivers. Therefore, the type of dust can be identified by means of observing the change of the amount of light from the receiver sensors. For experiments, we use two types of dust, rice and sesame, and validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • Sutiability of Jungsan clay shale dolomite sludge Anyang feldspar and alumina as raw materials for light-weight porous ceramics was examined. In order to find optimum manufacturing conditions compositions heating temperatuers and heating times were varied and their effects on physical properties were measured and bloating mechanism was investigated. Jungsan clay seems suitable as raw material to make the light-weight constructional materials with 5wt% of ANyang feldspar and alumina added in calcined clay (800$^{\circ}C$) having bulk density of 0.45g/cm3 water absorption of 1.34% and compressive strength of 85kg/cm2 rapid-heated at 1200$^{\circ}C$ for 30min. It is suggested that bloating mechanism depends on the difference of tem-peratures between the inside and outside in specimen the remained gases in interstices can bloat by the li-quid phase of surface with high viscosity and gas pressure at elevated temperature.

  • We have developed low voltage driving white organic light emitting diode with new electron transport layer. The with light emission was realized with a yellow dopant, rubrene and blue-emitting DPVBi layer. The new electron transport layer results in very high current density at low voltage, causing a reduction of driving voltage. The device with new electron transport layer shows a brightness of 1000 cd/m2 at 4.3 V.

  • This paper describes a novel current driving circuit for an active matrix organic light emitting diode (AMOLED). The proposed current driving circuit has a lower power consumption and higher chip density for the AMOLED display compared with the conventional one because all elements operate at a normal voltage and are shielded from the high voltage of the panel. The chip size and power consumption of the current driving circuit for an AMOLED can be improved by about 30 to 40% and 10 to 20%, respectively, compared with the conventional one.

  • Composites are very useful material for light train carbody due to its high specific strength and lightweight characteristics. The composites, called 3-D board, are developed with a special stitching method. In this process, the glass fiber fabrics of skin material and foam core material are stitched together with glass fiber thread. The glass thread in Z-axis turns into FRP form. The conventional delamination problem can be solved with 3-D sandwich structure. In addition, with the lower density of foam, the weight of the panel and the operation expenses can be highly reduced. To evaluate the usefulness of the 3-D board, the double-deck light train carbody is studied. The stress analyses are carried out under various loads and boundary conditions with FEM Code, ANSYS. On comparing with the aluminum carbody, 3-D board carbody can be reduced by about 2 ton for the total weight of carbody.

  • The light element candidates such as S, O, Si, and K are discussed for the reasonable compositions in the earth's core since the available data show density difference from pure iron core. These candidates are favored by the some evidences such as depletion in the crust and mantle, and lower eutectic temperature of Fe-FeS melt for sulfur. FeO phase for oxygen, lighter mass than sulfur and solubility in metallic phases for silicon, and partitioning in Fe-FeS melt for potassium. However, other problems such as short experimental data, initial compositions of these elements, and oxidation state during the formation of the earth should be solved simultaneously to confirm these light elements.

  • In order to improve EL performance, anthracene was doped into the 8-hydroxyquinoline-aluminum (Alq$^3$) light-emitting layer of organic double layered EL cells. The EL cells were fabricated on ITO glass substrates by vacuum deposition. Doping of anthracene to the light-emitting $Alq^3$layer was performed by means of co-evaporation. The doping concentration was changed in the range of 5 to 30 wt.%. It was confirmed that anthracene doping of appropriate concentration increased the available current density and brightness of the EL cells. Carrier mobility of the $Alq^3$ layer was measured by time of flight method. The influence of anthracene doping on the cell performance was discussed.

  • We have realized static image on organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) using photoluminescence degradation. Ultraviolet (UV) was irradiated to the glass side of device. UV power was 350 Wand the wavelength was 365 nm. The UV irradiation gives rise to the degradation of photoluminescence. Due to the degradation, the current density-voltage curve was shifted to the higher voltage side and the luminescence was also degraded by the current and photoluminescence drop. The negative imaged films were prepared to control the transmittance of UV. The UV light was passed through the film. By this method, the film image was transferred to the device with reversed image and the static image was realized on the OLED.

  • This study is designed to manufacture the upgraded sound absorption concrete by using foamed concrete by using artificial light weight aggregate which raises the continuous void ratio to increase the sound absorption ratio and improve the strength. In manufacturing the sound absorption block, the pre-foaming form is applied to generate continuous voids, controlling the density by the addition of bubbles. It is general that the more porosity creates, the weaker strength becomes. Each of specimens are used for this experiment and measured their absorption ratio to examine the absorption property depending on frequency. As a results of experiment, it is evaluated that the absorption capacity of the sound absorption block has relation to compression strength and surface shape.
