The purpose of this study is to investigate how the marital conflict and the conflict-coping method of self and spouse have an effect on the marital satisfaction in the early stage of marital life. The subjects of this study are the 132 couples in the area of Taegu and Pohang city. The instruments of measurement are marital conflict scale, conflict-coping method scale and Kansas marital satisfaction scale(KMSS). The data are analysed through factor analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, frequency, percentile, mean, standard deviation, paired t-test and stepwise regression analysis. The major findings of this study are as follows: Firstly, as a result of figuring out couples' marital conflict, husbands and wives are having the highest conflict in the personality factor. The difference of marital conflict between husbands and wives is shown significant in the relative factor. Secondly, as a result of figuring out couples' conflict-coping method, husbands and wives use mostly the reasonable behavior and leastly physical aggression. The difference of conflict-coping method between husbands and wives is shown significant in the verbal aggression, adjustment renunciation and physical aggression. Thirdly, as a result of figuring out how the marital conflict and the conflict-coping method of self and spouse have an effect on the marital satisfaction, the communication factor of the conflict factors, the wives' verbal aggression perceived by husbands, and the reasonable behavior of the self have much effect on the marital satisfaction in case of husbands. And the personality factor, sexual factor and role factor of the conflict factors and the husbands' verbal aggression and reasonable behavior perceived by wives have much effect on the marital satisfaction in case of wives.

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that influence school life satisfaction based on personal variables, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and perception of the educational environment at a medical school in Korea. The data were collected from 228 medical students who agreed to participate in the study at a medical school. The Dundee Ready Medical Environment Measure (DREEM) and the self-esteem scale by Rosenberg were used. Questions measuring satisfaction of medical school life and interpersonal relationships (with professors, with senior/junior students, and with friends) were asked using a 5 point Likert scale. The data were analyzed by t-test, analysis of variance, and multiple regression analysis. The satisfaction of medical school life of male students was significantly higher than female students and increased with years of schooling. In DREEM, the students' perception of teachers decreased by school years. The relationship with senior and junior students of third year students was higher than other school years. The result of the regression analysis to determine the variables that affect satisfaction of medical school life showed that interpersonal relationships with senior and junior students, the students' social self-perception, and the students' perception of learning were significant. The results of this study will help medical schools in their plans to improve the level of satisfaction for the happiness and successful academic achievements of their students.
The purpose of this study is to determine if family violence affects family relationships. To asses these effects, the study was designed to evaluate the impact of wife abuse on marital satisfaction in a system approach of family life management. 184 married wives anonymously completed questionairs that included the following scales : conflict tactics scale, family strengths and marital satisfaction. Results indicted a significant decrease in perceived family strengths and marital satisfaction as husbands used physical violence against wives. these findings provide empirical support for the assumption that violence has a negative impact on family relationships.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relations between Wives' marital satisfaction and Divorce attitude as a basis building in marital stability . A measurement tools used for this study are marital satisfaction scale, which was adapted and reproducted from Dyadic Adjustment Scale(DAS) developed by Spanier and Divorce attitude Scale, which was developed by researcher refer to preceding study connected with a cause of divorce. The subjects were 354 married women dwelling in Seoul. Statistical methods such as frequency, percentile. mean , standard deviation, one way ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation were used for data analysis. The results of this study are as follows; 1) there is the tendency to high marital satisfaction group rather more than low marital satisfaction group and to permissional attitude group rather more than negative attitude group about divorce attitude. 2) There was difference in marital satisfaction by number of children, wives's educational level, parents marriage happiness. While, there was no difference in marital satisfaction by length of marriage, family income, wives employments status, marriage pattern. 3) There was partially difference in wives' attitude toward divorce by wives educational level, family income. Both there was no difference in wives attitude toward divorce by the other factors. 4) wives' attitude toward divorce correlates with marital satisfaction. The correlation coefficients is 283 significantly of .001 level. The more satisfaction wife feels about her own matrimony. the more negative a attitude she has toward divorce. This menas that attitude toward divorce depends upon their matrimony. 5) The four type of marital stability are as follows; high marital stability type, high subjective unstability type, high objective unstability type, high marital unstability type.
The purpose of this study was to validate the standardization of the "Korean Childcare Teacher's Job Satisfaction Scale"(K-CTJSS) that the validity and reliability was evaluated by pretest in 2009. K-CTJSS is composed by 40 items with 6 factors and is responded by 6 point Likert scale. Participants consisted of 1,276 childcare teachers in Korea except Gangwon-do and Jeju-do by purposive sampling. Results were as follows: First, exploratory factor analysis resulted in 40 items composed of 6 factors (director's childcare center management system, social recognition, working environment and welfare, workload and time management, relationship with co-workers, relationship with parents). Second, the confirmatory factor analysis supported a 6 factor structure by resulting over appropriate level of goodness of fit. Third, inter-corelation coefficients among 6 factors were significant level(r = .10~.70). Fourth, the reli ability level of 6 factors by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ were high(.84~.95.). Finally, concurrent validity levels with Childhood Job Satisfaction Survey(Jorde-Bloom, 1989) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale(Diener et al., 1985) were r = .07~.84 and .19~.46, respectively.
The purpose of this study was to investigated on the degree of interest of manners education before and attitude and behavior change satisfaction of post-manners education for Women's University Students. The data for this study were collected from 518 subjects, who were Sookmyng Women's University Students in November, 1996. The subjects were analyzed by Cronbach's α, Frequency, Percentage, Mean, Anova, Factor analysis, Multiple Regression, and Path Analysis. The results were as follows; 1) The general tendency of students' degree of interest of manners education before for Women's University Students was high. 2) Attitude and behavioral change satisfaction of post-manners education was some high. Among the variables, individual life manners, family relations manners, job manner, and wedding ceremony were some high then the other manners areas. 3) The variables of the positive influences for students attitude and behavioral change satisfaction of post-manners education were degree of interest of manners education before, mother's age, grade, major, university life-satisfaction, and mother's job, negative influence variables was family life-satisfaction. 4) The intermediated variable of attitude and behavioral change satisfaction of post-manners education was degree of interest of manners education before and university life-satisfaction. We hope this study to be used as basic data for developing manners education model in university. We also expect further studies on university manners education with precise scale and sampling.
This study investigated the leisure constraints and leisure life satisfaction of the institutional elderly. The respondents were 302 elderly people residing in 5 free institutionalized elderly homes in Seoul. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, One-way ANOVA, Duncan's post hoc test and regression analysis using SPSS WIN 12.0 program. Exploratory factor analysis revealed that the 10 items in the proposed scale could be grouped into four factors of constraint on leisure:'physical constraint','psychological constraint','interpersonal constraint', and 'structural constraint 'There were differences in leisure constraints according to sex, age, education degree, interaction with facility colleagues, and interaction with facility staff. There were differences in leisure life satisfaction according to sex, age, having religion or not, interaction with facility colleagues, interaction with facility staff and leisure constraints. Regression analysis results indicated that the main effective factors of leisure life satisfaction were leisure constraints.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of the degree of preparation for old age and the sense of crisis on the marital satisfaction of married mid-life women. The participants in this study were 300 women ranging in age from 40 to 59 years residing in Gyeonggi-do. Two hundred and forty-nine self-reported questionnaires were used for final analysis by SPSS PASW 18.0. The major results of this study were as follows. First, the mean score on the sense of crisis scale was $2.56{\pm}0.65$, representing a medium level. The mean scores for degree of preparation for later life and marital satisfaction were $3.54{\pm}0.57$ and $3.67{\pm}0.88$, which were somewhat high. Second, socio-demographic characteristics have a significant influence on married, middle-aged women. There were primarily differences in the sense of crisis by age cohort(such as women in their 50s) and level of education. Moreover, there were differences in the degree of preparation for later life by marriage duration and differences in marital satisfaction by level of education, monthly average income, and employment status. Third, in multiple regression analysis, the variables significantly influencing the marital satisfaction of married, middle-aged women included health status and monthly average income as control variables. Mid-life crisis also had a significant effect. The degree of preparation for emotional later life had a significant effect as an independent variable. These findings suggest that the level of sense of crisis and the degree of preparation for emotional later life affected the women's marital satisfaction. Other factors did not have a significant affect. Based on the above results, intervention alternatives are needed to improve the marital satisfaction of married, middle-aged women.
Based on the Motivational States Theory(MOST), the present research expanded and complemented Kim(2007)'s proposal to add the Life Satisfaction Expectancy Scale(LSES) to Diener et al's Satisfaction With Life Scale(SWLS) to measure subjective well-being(SWB). In the present study, the Life Satisfaction Motivation Scale(LSMS) was introduced to measure the strength of motivation for life satisfaction in general. Two hundred and eighty six college students participated in this study. Factor analyses revealed a two-factor structure, with the factors corresponding to life satisfaction and life satisfaction expectancy. Measures of internal and temporal reliability show the LSMS to be a good complement for the measure of SWB(The LSMS showed high internal and test-retest reliability). It was found that the addition of the LSES provided a significant increment in predictive power over the SWLS in the prediction of various factors related with well-being prediction. Exceptionally, in the prediction of anger the LSMS had the most predictive power. There were some differences between male and female students in the correlations among life satisfaction, life satisfaction expectancy and life satisfaction motivation and well-being-related factors. The merits of including LSES in the measurement of subjective well-being and the limitations of this study are discussed.
Despite the advances in cancer therapy in the last 20 years, cancer continues to be a life-threatening illness, and the newly diagnosed individual faces a crisis that emphasized his or her mortality. Patients who suffer from cancer may have psychological problems, especially depression. Most tend to seek the meaning of suffering when continuing pain was experienced. Then the search for meaning, which is one of the primary needs of humans, begins. This meaning is "unique and specific" to the individual, and it must be fulfilled by the individual alone. This study was conducted to provide a basis of data for a nursing intervention program to minimize a cancer patient's suffering and to understand the relationship between life satisfaction, depression, and the meaning of suffering in cancer patients. The sample was composed of 160 cancer patients who were inpatients or outpatients of three general hospitals in Seoul. Data collections were carried out from February 25th to April 20th of 2000. The data was analyzed using a SAS program for descriptive statistics, Pearson Correlations, ANOVA, and Duncan tests. The results were as follows: 1. The scores on the depression scale ranged from 20 to 65 with a mean of 40.76 (SD 9.6) The mean score on the suffering scale was 97.72 (SD 12.7), and the score of the life satisfaction ranged from 15 to 37 with a mean of 25.51 (SD 5.2). 2. There were significant correlations between the amount of life satisfaction and depression (r=-.61, P=.00), the life satisfaction and the meaning of suffering (r=.30, p=.00), and the depression and the meaning of suffering (r=-.24, p=.00). 3. The factors influencing the depression in patients with cancer are age (F=2.52, p=.04) and education level (F=3.98, p=.00). The level of the meaning of suffering in cancer patients differed by education level (F=4.13, p=.00). Also, the level of the life satisfaction in cancer patients differed by education level (F=2.72, p=.04). In conclusion, the correlation between the depression, the meaning of suffering, and life satisfaction can be used as a concrete and practical datum for the development of nursing intervention. This may assist patients with cancer, overcome their suffering and lead to a hopeful life by understanding the meaning of suffering.
