자기부상열차의 동적 모델링 연구 (A Study of Dynamic Modeling of a Magnetic Levitation Vehicle)

  • Interest in advanced vehicles results in correspondingly increased interest in modeling and simulation of the dynamic behavior of Maglev-type vehicle systems. DADS is a program especially suited for the analysis of multibody mechanical systems. This paper demonstrates the application of DADS to the dynamic modeling and simulation of such advanced vehicles. A brief description is made of the modeling requirements of magnetically levitated systems, along with a summary of some of the related capabilities of DADS. As a case study, an analysis of a vehicle based on the UTM01 system is presented. This paper shows that the presented modeling technique is applicable to the dynamic characteristics evaluation and control law design of Maglev- type vehicles.

  • The urban transit propelled by single sided linear induction motor(SLIM) have been in stage for practical application. Also, the use of the linear induction motor in traction systems enables large forces to be achieved without friction between wheels and rails. In this paper we discuss the linear induction motor (LIM) drive system (300KVA) for magnetic levitation vehicles.

Development of Inertial Measurement Sensor Using Magnetic Levitation

  • An INS(Inertial Navigation System) is composed of a navigation computer and an IMU(Inertial Measurement Unit), and can be applied to estimate a vehicle's state. But the inertial sensors assembled in the IMU are too complicated and expensive to use for the general application purpose. In this study, a new concept of inertial sensor system using magnetic levitation is proposed. The proposed system is expected to replace one single-axis rate or position gyroscope, and one single-axis accelerometer concurrently with a relatively simple structure. A simulation of the proposed system is given to describe the capability of this new concept.

  • In this paper, we present a self-compensating PID controller which consists of a conventional PID controller that controls the linear components and a neural controller that controls the higher order and nonlinear components. This controller is based on the Harris's concept where he explained that the adaptive controller consists of the PID control term and the disturbance compensating term. The resulting controller's architecture is also found to be very similar to that of Wang's controller. This controller adds a self-tuning ability to the existing PID controller without replacing it by compensating the control errors through the neuro-controller. When applied to an actual magnetic levitation system which is known to be very nonlinear, it has also produced an excellent results.

Innovative Differential Hall Effect Gap Sensor through Comparative Study for Precise Magnetic Levitation Transport System

  • Three types of gap sensors, a capacitive gap sensor, an eddy current gap sensor, and a Hall effect gap sensor are described and evaluated through experiments for the purpose of precise gap sensing for micrometer scale movement, and a novel type of differential hall effect gap sensor is proposed. Each gap sensor is analyzed in terms of resolution and environment dependency including temperature dependency. Furthermore, a transport system for AMOLED deposition is introduced as a typical application of gap sensors, which are recently receiving considerable attention. Based on the analyses, the proposed differential Hall effect gap sensor is found to be the most suitable gap sensor for precise gap sensing, especially for application to a transport system for AMOLED deposition. The sensor shows resolution of $0.63mV/{\mu}m$ for the overall range of the gap from 0 mm to 2.5 mm, temperature dependency of $3{\mu}m/^{\circ}C$ from $20^{\circ}C$ to $30^{\circ}C$, and a monotonic characteristic for the gap between the sensor and the target.

Design and analysis of a control system for a multi-magnet levitation system

  • This paper deals with some analytical and experimental aspects to control a multi-magnet suspended vehicle. Because the response of a multi-magnet vehicle shows mutually coupled interaction, an analytical description of the vehicle dynamics is necessary. For numerical computations, a linearized modelling of vehicle dynamics is dicussed and computer simulation is carried out. And for the experiment, a test vehicle suspended by four magnets has been made and investigated by local control of each magnet. Two algorithms by PID and state feedback control law are used and compared with each other. Some kinds of disturbance characteristics and coupling effects of the width change of the test vehicle are experimented.

Adaptive control strategy in electromagnetic levitation system

  • This paper deals with control system design strategy for electrolmaginetic suspension (E.M.S.) system. For a successful control of E.M.S. system, the nature of E.M.S. system is deeply studied in the view point of non-linear, open-loop unstable, time-varying, non-minimum phase system. To find a special control treatment for E.M.S. system, analyses and simulations for various models are carried out. As one of the successful candidates, adaptive control concept is introduced and sample hardware system using digital signal processor is implemented.

  • A horizontal axle-type superconductor flywheel energy storage system has many great features such as extensibility and stability compared to the traditional vertical axle-type flywheel systems. In this paper, a prototype flywheel device with a horizontal axle is presented briefly, and the hybrid construction as an essential supplement in superconductor journal bearing design against the levitation drift is proposed.
