  • The current study aimed to segment Mongolian female consumers based on luxury consumption values and to compare lifestyle, demographic characteristics, purchase behavior, and perceived brand personality among the segments. The survey was administered to consumers who had purchased luxury products in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. A total of 184 surveys were used for data analysis. Exploratory factor analysis revealed five luxury values: quality value, hedonic value, conspicuous value, social value, and unique value. Using the five luxury values, clustering analysis was conducted, showing that there were four distinct segments: passive shoppers, showoffs, rational value groups, and hedonists. ANOVAs and chi-square analyses revealed that these four segments differed in consumption values, demographic characteristics, lifestyle dimensions (including appearance consciousness, leisure orientation, life enjoyment, and achievement orientation), and purchase behavior (including purchase frequency, price of products purchased, and product selection criteria). Moreover, value segments showed differences in five dimensions of luxury brand personality: sincerity, professionalism/attractiveness, excitement, materialism, and sophistication. The results suggest that consumption values serve as a significant basis for segmentation. Furthermore, the current study indicates that value segments can be described as consumers' perceived brand personality. The study concludes with a discussion of the results, theoretical and practical implications, and limitations.

  • The purposes of this study were to segment knit wear consumers by their lifestyles and to examine knit wear purchase behavior among the lifestyle segments. The subjects of this study were female consumers who were residents in Seoul and metropolitan areas. The researchers distributed the questionnaires and the final sample of 357 was used for the data analysis. The statistical analysis methods used for the study were factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan test, and ${\chi}^2$-test. The results showed that the lifestyle factors had 6 dimensions: fashion, planned purchase, socially active, impulsive consumption, brand, and leisure/culture. These factors were categorized into four groups: brand oriented group, passive group, rational/social group, and fashion/impulsive consumption group. The results also showed that there were significant differences among the groups in regard to knit wear purchase criteria, knit wear image preferences, and other knit wear purchase behaviors. For example, brand oriented group considered design and brand name/fashion important as knit wear selection criteria, and the group preferred an elegance image and a modern image than did other groups.

  • As the information services are reachable by various terminals almost anytime, anywhere, much effort has been made to endow the users with context-aware services by utilizing available information. The increase in leisure time and wealth has made people pay more attention to hobby, entertainment, health, well-being, and so on. In these fields, the information services, if provided in a context-aware way, could largely enhance the user satisfaction. This paper identifies the essential components of context-aware entertainment service provision and proposes a service development framework. It also presents how to represent data, how to describe service selection knowledge for context-aware services, and how to conduct inference under the representation scheme.

  • In the recent WTO/DDA negotiations, discussions are progressing to forbid fishery subsidies which have negative effect on the natural environment and the fishery resources and to lower or to eliminate the tariff/non-tariff barriers that distort trade liberalization. As a result, linking to the weak structural environment of Korea's fishing villages; such a scheme has jeopardized the livelihood of fishermen who settle down in local fishing harbors. Against this backdrop, the government is attempting to positively respond to changes in the fishing environment in a number of different ways: promotion of fishing tourism, fishing harbor reinforcement in function, developing fishing villages, and harbors. With respect to investment by priority in fishing harbor development, it is very important to appropriately select investment targets based on objective criteria. A small number of harbors are chosen and investment plans by harbor are systematically devised, economic feasibility and the effects of investment are analyzed and reviewed in relation to each target harbor. This paper is designed to review and assess objective evaluation methods and the degree of importance for the designation of target harbors, dealing with local harbors in Chung Nam Do as a model. Each local government has tried to reorganize existing harbors and develop new harbors, considering a fall in the number of fishing vessels and the expansion of maritime leisure activities. In order to overcome the limit of existing harbors in function, to raise the income of fishermen, and to activate tourism, they have shifted their focus from simple functions such as vessel evacuation and anchoring to harbor beautification, which can work as a basis for fishing tourism. This paper points out that the AHP analysis method for prioritizing local harbors in Chung Nam Do should help to be chosen target harbors in other cities and provinces. Each local government has attempted to reorganize existing harbors and to develop new harbors, taking into consideration the decline in the number of fishing vessels and the expansion of maritime leisure activities. In order to overcome the limited number of functional harbors, to raise the income of fishermen, and to boost tourism, they have shifted their focus from simple functions, such as vessel evacuation and anchoring, to harbor beautification, which can work as a basis for fishing tourism. This paper shows that the AHP analysis method for prioritizing local harbors in Chungcheongnam-do could aid in the effective selection of target harbors in other cities and provinces.

  • Consumer and property evaluation of wetsuit materials were conducted to obtain useful data for developing competitive products that meet consumer expectations and improving industrial competitiveness. Data were collected through online surveys of 213 domestic consumers who have experienced wearing wetsuit among marine leisure activities. Five types of commercial wet suit materials by brand and four types of commercial wet suit materials with the same quality by thickness were collected. Then, their physical properties, salt water resistance and thermal insulation rate were evaluated and compared. As a result, the most commonly used wetsuit material is 3 to 5 mm thick, and the basic jersey material is bonded on both sides. As a processing for imparting functionality, processing for improving warmth and reducing surface resistance are most frequently used. Consumers often feel uncomfortable when wearing a wetsuit, such as wearing comfort, weight, ease of movement, stretchability, and clothing pressure, which are different from those of casual wear. Also, mechanical strength and warmth were considered to be the most important criteria for selection of wetsuit material for purchase or rental. The mechanical properties of brand A and B were better than those of brand C, D, and E. Resilience and thermal shrinkage were better in brand C, D, and E. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in the physical properties due to the difference in thickness of the material at the same quality. Also, it was found that the thicker the material, the more stable it is in the heat. Brand A and B had superior salt water resistance than brand C, D, and E. In the thermal insulation test, brand A and B showed better insulation characteristics than brand C, D, and E, but the types of bonded fabric and surface finishing of materials were thought to have affected. In comparison of the thickness, the thicker the materials, the better the salt resistance and the thermal insulation.

  • Currently, the demand for underwater or underwater photography is growing very fast. Its coverage of underwater shooting for broadcasting, leisure and sports, and military and operational use is also growing rapidly. Among them, we specifically select the best camera to be used in underwater drones to photograph and inspect marine life attached to the ship's hull. To compare three cameras performance, they are compared and evaluated using objective and subjective criteria in special circumstances such as underwater shooting. This study checks whether performance criteria, such as resolution of a camera, meet objective and subjective standards in the unusual situation of underwater shooting. And it shows that in addition to the filter that calibrates the image, proper camera selection is important for providing good picture quality. Even after this study, research using more diverse cameras could provide an appropriate standard for comparison of underwater camera quality.
