좌-우선회 원편파 상호 선택 변환 편파기 설계 (Dseign of a Selectable Left and Right Handed Circular Polarizer)

  • 본 논문에서는 선편파와 원편파를 상호간에 선택적으로 변환할 수 있는 3단 회전핀으로 구성된 편파기를 설계하였다. 편파기를 설계하기 위해 구형 도파관과 원형 도파관을 결합시켜 모드변환이 원활이 이루어지도록 전송선이론을 적용하였고, 원형 도파관내에 유전체판을 삽입시켜 삽입된 각도에 따라 편파변환을 선택적으로 가능하게 설계하였다. 또한 설계된 데이타를 이용하여 입.출력단에 나타나는 전송특성 및 반사특성이 최적이 되도록 시뮬레이션 하였고, 편파기 제작을 통하여 이론의 타당성을 입증하였다.

  • 본 논문은, '불균형 조건의 메타 재질 구조'를 이용하여 GSM 대역에서 불요파 억제와 효과적인 소형화를 얻는 새로운 대역 통과 여파기 설계 기법을 제시한다. 기존의 반파장 및 025배 파장 공진기 기반의 여파기들과 비교하여, 본 CRLH 여파기는 처음으로 제안되는 유도성 결합 inverter에 의해 0차 공진기들이 결합되고, 이것을 사용함으로써 40$\sim$50 dB 하모닉 억제 효과와 80 %율의 소형화 얻는데 위한 우수한 성능을 보여준다. 이 기법의 타당성이 등가 회로와 분산도의 도출과 함께 성능 예측과 실험을 통해 검증된다.

  • This paper presents the filter of a resonator comprising a shorted open gap ring(SOGR) and interdigital lines. The proposed filter has the ultra wideband characteristic operating from 3 GHz to 10.5 GHz. In order to achieve the remarkable improvement in the size-reduction of the overall filter structure, only one cell of the SOGR with the inter-digital lines is adopted. It is shown that this filter has the size of $18mm{\times}15mm$ using a metamaterial, the fractional bandwidth over 100%, the insertion loss much less than 1dB, an acceptable return loss performance in the results.

유행성 출혈형 폐염양 질환의 병원체에 관한 연구 (Comparative Analysis of Leptospira Isolated in Korea and Leptospira from ATCC)

  • Leptospira isolated from the patients with so called epidemic pulmonary hemorrhagic fever were comparatively studied with standard strains obtained from ATCC. The specific aim of this study was to clarify the morphologic heterogeneity of the isolates, i. e., coexistence of spiral forms in both handness, right and left, rod and spherical forms in their population by comparing them with those of the ATCC strains. No differences between our strains and ATCC strains were noticed in their growth characteristics, responses to the culture media, temperature, antibiotics and antifungal agents. Furthermore, the morphologic heterogeneity had been repeatedly observed even in cultures of standard ATCC strains, which had been noticed in the cultures of bacteria isolated in this laboratory. The serologic analysis of our isolates demonstrated that the bacteria reacted with L. icterohaemorrhagiae and L. australis regardless their differences in time of isolation(1984, 1985). Thus, it was concluded that the spiral bacteria isolated in this laboratory are Leptospira of a new serovar which still remained to be determined. And the previous reports on the morphology of the Leptospira, which described that the Leprospira population has only spiral forms with right. handed coils might be reconsidered.

The Ongoing Effect of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on both the Hemispheres: Single Case fMRI Study

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate whether dual-hemisphere transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) could induce more cortical activity, compared to single-hemisphere, using functional MRI (fMRI). Methods: One right-handed healthy subject was recruited. Three phases of dual-hemisphere tDCS (i.e. anodal tDCS over the left-dominant primary sensoriomotor cortex (SM1) and cathodal tDCS over the right-non dominant SM(1) were consecutively delivered on to a subject, during fMRI scanning. The voxel count and the intensity index in the averaged cortical map were analyzed among the three tDCS phases. Results: Our result showed that cortical activation was observed on all the three phases of the dual-hemisphere tDCS. Voxel count and intensity index were as following; 912 and 4.07 in the first phase, 1102 and 3.90 in the second phase, 1031 and 3.80 in the third phase. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that application of the dual-hemisphere tDCS could induce cortical activity and maintain to recruit cortical neurons. Our findings suggested that application of dual-hemisphere tDCS could produce efficiency of the ongoing tDCS effect to facilitate cortical excitability.

운동학습에 따른 대뇌 보조운동영역의 활성화 변화: fMRI 사례연구 (Change of activation of the supplementary motor area in motor learning: an fMRI case study)

  • Purpose: The contribution of the supplementary motor area (SMA) to the control of voluntary movement has been revealed. We investigated the changesin the SMA for motor learning of the reaching movement in stroke patient using functional MRI. Methods: The subject was a right-handed 55 year-old woman with left hemiparesis due to an intracerebral hemorrhage. She performed reaching movement during fMRI scanning before and after reaching training in four weeks. The motor assessment scale and surface EMG were used to evaluate the paretic upper limb function and muscle activation. Results: In the fMRI result, contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex (SM1) was activated before and after training. SMA was only activated after training. In addition, muscle activation of the paretic upper limb was similar to that of the unaffected upper limb after training. Conclusion: These findings suggest SMA is related to the execution of a novel movement pattern resulting in motor learning in stroke patients.

Novel Fabrication of Designed Silica Structures Inspired by Silicatein-a

  • Silicatein-${\alpha}$, the enzyme extracted from silica spicules in glass sponges, has been studied extensively in the way of chemistry from 1999, in which the pioneering work by Morse, D. E. - the discovery of the enzymatic hydrolysis in Silicatein-${\alpha}$ - was published. Since its reaction conditions are physiologically favored, synthesis of various materials, such as gallium oxide, zirconium oxide, and silicon oxide, was achieved without any hazardous wastes. Although some groups synthesized oxide films and particles, they have not achieved yet controlled morphogenesis in the reaction conditions mentioned above. With the knowledge of catalytic triad involved in hydrolysis of silicone alkoxide and oligomerization of silicic acid, we designed the novel peptide amphiphiles to not only form self-assembled structure, but also display similar activities to silicatein-${\alpha}$. Designed templates were able to self-assemble into left-handed helices for the peptide amphiphiles with L-form amino acid, catalyzing polycondensation of silicic acids onto the surface of them. It led to the formation of silica helices with 30-50 nm diameters. These results were characterized by various techniques, including SEM, TEM, and STEM. Given the situation that nano-bio-technology, the bio-applicable technology in nanometer scale, has been attracting considerable attention; this result could be applied to the latest applications in biotechnology, such as biosensors, lab-on-a-chip, biocompatible nanodevices.

19세기 한국 남서해(南西海) 도서지역(島嶼地域) 민가(民家)의 유형적 체계 (19th Century's Typical System of Commoner's House in Southwestern Island Area of Korea)

  • This study is an architectural investigation paper which has been investigated for 5 years from 1986 about commoner's traditional houses and village in southwestern island area of Korea. Man has lived in this area form the prehistoric age. But from 13C to 14C and in 16C most of people had left this islands by external invasion (Japan) and from 17C many people have lived in real earnest. This area did not have cultural interchange easily than inland area because of geographical conditions, Therefore, so far, many traditional factors have been handed down and especially, a good many commoner's traditional houses exist. The time of builging of these houses is mainly 19C and building shape of those days remains nearly as it is. About 450 houses have been investigated for 5 years. The composition of the houses is composed of Anchae (a centeral house), Sarangchae (an attached house of anchae) and Chukganchae (It has rest room and stores barnyard manure). Somtimes, Sarangchae was ommitted according to the circumstance of the house. Generally, the form of arrangement of house is divided into two shapes; One is 'ㅡ'shape which has only Anchae and the other is 'ㄱ' shape which has Anchae and Sarangchae. In the scale of the house, Anchae averages $41m^2$ and Sarangchae averages $27m^2$.

복합 좌우향 전송선로를 이용한 UWB 대역통과 필터의 설계 (Design of UWB Bandpass Filter using CRLH Transmission Line)

  • 본 논문에서는 덤벨형 결함 접지면 구조를 갖는 복합 좌-우향(CRLH) 전송선로를 이용하여 초광대역 대역통과 여파기를 설계하였다. 결함 접지면 구조와 마이크로스트립 인터디지털 캐패시터를 이용하여 CRLH 전송선로를 구현하고 이것을 이용하여 필터를 설계하였다. CRLH 전송선로는 저역통과와 고역통과 필터의 복합적인 특성을 나타내는데, 그것들의 차단주파수를 잘 조절함으로써 초광대역의 대역통과 필터의 특성을 얻을 수 있다. UWB 필터 특성을 얻기 위해 1, 2, 4, 8 셀을 갖는 CRLH 전송선로에 대해 시물레이션하였고, 본 논문에서는 결과를 검증하기 위해 4 셀 구조의 UWB 필터를 설계 제작하였다. 측정된 결과는 시뮬레이션 결과와 일치하며 5GHz 중심주파수에서 88%의 넓은 대역폭을 갖는다.

폐고무 분말을 이용한 TPE 블렌드에 관한 연구(I) : 스크류 조합, 모폴로지, 기계적 물성 (A Study on Thermoplastic Elastomer Blend Using Waste Rubber Powder(I): Screw Configurations, Morphologies and Mechanical Properties)

  • 새로운 TPE(Thermoplastic Elastomer) 블렌드 재료로서 폐 EPDM(Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer)분말의 사용에 따른 환경문제를 해결하고, TPE의 고부가 가치화를 위하여 PP (Polypropylene)와 폐 EPDM분말을 주원료로 하고, 동방향 이축압출기(Co-rotating Twin Screw Extruder)를 사용하여 동적가교를 이루어 TPE재료를 제조하였다. TPE 재료의 인장강도, 파단신율, 탄성율 등의 물성을 향상시킬 목적으로 스크류 조합별로 폐 EPDM/PP를 블렌드하여 기계적물성을 조사하였으며, 모폴로지를 조사하였다. 스크류 조합에서는 혼련판과 역 스크류 엘리먼트의 수가 증가할수록 블렌드물의 전단력과 체류시간이 증가하여 동적가교가 증가하였다.
