Effects of feeding leaf positions on the growth and fruit quality in muskmelon plants showing leaf yellowing symptoms

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the influence of feeding leaf positions on the growth, net formation of fruits, and occurrence of leaf yellowing symptoms (LYS) in muskmelon plants. Plants having five or ten more leaves above the fruit-bearing node produced the greater biomass than those of plants having equal or five less leaves above the fruit-bearing node. The number of leaves above the fruit-bearing node also influenced on the occurrence of LYS. The number of plants with LYS decreased as the number of leaves borne on the nodes above the fruit-bearing node increased. The LYS infected ratio of BL-5 treatment were the greatest, while fruit weight of BL+5 treatment were the greatest among all the tested treatments. In addition, the net formation of BL-5 treatment showed the poorest. Results indicated that maintaining the higher number of leaves over the fruit-bearing node might be feasible the practical method for coping physiological damages from yellowing symptoms.

출수기 엽신 제거정도가 near isogenic 화청찰벼와 화청메벼의 줄기 건물 중 변화와 수량구성요소에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Leaf Removal Treatments at Heading on Vertical Distribution of Stem Dry weight and Yield Component of Near-isogenic lines, Waxy and Non-Waxy rice cultivars)

  • 근동질계통인 화청벼의 찰벼와 메벼를 이용하여 출수기 엽신 제거에 따른 찰벼와 메벼 줄기의 수직 건물 중 변화와 상위절 엽신이 수확기 수량구성요소 중 천립중과 등숙율에 미치는 영향을 평가한 시험의 결과는 아래와 같다. 1 출수기 엽신 제거에 따른 줄기의 수직 건물중 변화는 10cm 까지가 가장 많이 감소하였다. 2 공시 품종별 줄기의 건물중 감소는 찰벼보다 메벼가 크게 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 3. 수확기 엽초+경의 전분함량은 waxy rice보다 non-waxy rice가 높았고 공시품종 모두 엽초+경의 전분함량은 상위 3엽을 모두 제거한 것이 가장 낮았고 단엽제거 처리에서는 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다 4. 천립중과 등숙율은 찰벼보다 메벼에서 높았고 천립중과 등숙율은 공시품종 모두 상위 3업을 모두 제거한 것이 가장 낮게 나타났다.

콩의 잎 크기와 종실 무게와의 상관 (Correlation between Leaf Size and Seed Weight of Soybean)

  • 콩 품종육성에 있어 잎의 크기가 종실무게와 관련된 형질의 초기 분리세대에서 조기선발 지표로서 활용 가능성을 구명하고자 재래종, 도입종 및 야생종 등 229개 품종 및 유전자원을 대상으로 단엽과 제1본엽 및 제3본엽과 종실 무게와의 상관관계를 조사 분석한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 시험재료 229개 품종 및 유전자원의 단엽 면적은 $3.2{\sim}33.8cm^2$, 제1본엽 면적은 $9.2{\sim}29.5cm^2$, 제3본엽 면적은 $7.2{\sim}58.9cm^2$, 종실의 100립 무게는 2.7~39.0 g의 범위를 나타내었다. 2. 엽 면적과 종실 무게간에는 높은 정의 상관이 있었고, 상관의 크기는 단엽(r=$0.80^{**}$), 제1본엽($0.75^{**}$), 제3본엽($0.67^{**}$) 순으로 나타났다. 3. 엽의 장폭과 종실무게 사이에는 유의한 정의 상관이 있었고 단엽의 길이(0.71)와 폭(0.79)이 제1본엽, 제3본엽 보다 상관이 높았으며, 엽장보다는 엽폭이 높은 상관을 보였다. 조사된 콩 잎의 장 폭비는 상위엽이 높았다. 4. 콩 종실크기와 관련된 생육 초기선발의 간접지표로서 단엽 크기와 단엽의 폭을 이용하는 것이 제일 유리할 것으로 판단되었다.

벼의 생산력(生産力) 분석(分析) II 생산구조(生産構造) 평가(評價)와 군낙평점(群落評點) (Analysis of Productivity in Rice Plant II Evaluation of Canopy Structure and Canopy Score)

  • 새로 육종(育種)된 다수성(多收性) 품종인 IR677계통(수원 213 및 214)과 진흥(振興) 및 팔달(八達)을 사용 포장상태(圃場狀態)에서의 군란구조(群落構造)를 비교분석(比較分析)하여 다음과 같은 결과(結果)를 얻었다. 1) IR667계통 (IR8${\times}$Taichung Native 1${\times}$Yukara)은 군락(群落)높이가 낮고 개벽도(開蘖度)가 크며 개엽도(開葉度)가 적고 엽장비율(葉長比率)(지엽장(止葉長)/3엽장(葉長))이 적고 4+5절간장(節稈長)이 짧으며 5절간(節幹) 직경(直俓)이 커서 결과적으로 엽면적지수(葉面積指數)가 크며 수중형(穗重型)이고 엽중비율(葉重比率)(엽중(葉重)/엽초십간중)이 큰 장점을 갖는 반면 엽폭(葉幅)이 크고 엽수(葉數)(잎수/$m^2$)가 적고 비엽면적(比葉面積)( $cm^2/g$)이 적고 노화(老化)에 의한 군락파양율(군낙파양율)이 큰 단점(短點)을 갖고있다. 2) IR667 계통은 군락구조(群落構造)의 10개(個) 구성요소(構成要素)에 의한 구조(構造)의 평가방식(評價方法)으로 제안(提案) 한 "군락평점(群落評點)"이 훨씬 높으며 결과적으로 수량(收量)도 높았다. 3) 개별엽(個別葉)의 질(質)은 장려품종이 좋은때문에 보다 높은 수량을 위한 조합(組合)은 장려품종의 엽(葉)으로 IR667의 구조(構造)를 갖는 것이다.

광질처리에 따른 박 유묘의 생장 및 자엽의 엽록소 함량 변화 (Effect of Blue, Red and Far-red Lights on Seeding Growth and Cotyledon Chlorophyll Content of Lagenaria siceraria Standl)

  • Various types of the seeding of bottle gourd widely used as a rootstock of watermelon has been required to satisfy the farmers need. The study was done to determine the effect of light quality of blue, red and far-red lights treated with light emitting diodes on growth and morphology of bottle goured seeding and chlorophyll content of its cotyledons. The lights were treated in the growth chamber for 7 days to the seeding elapsed 8 days after sowing under natural condition, and 64 hole trays with commercial bedsoil. Plant height, length and diameter of hypocotyl, leaf area of cotyledon and first true leaf, its leaf length, number of true leaves, fraction and total dry weight were measured. Red light shortened and slenderized the hypocotyl, which lengthened by far-red light and thickened by blue light. Plant height was declined in order of far-red light treatment, blue and red lights mainly due to difference of hypocotyl length, Area and length of the first true leaf became smaller and shorter under far-red light than under the other lights. However, blue light increased leaf area of cotyledons. Two cultivars cv. Yongjadaemok and cv. Kunghap had different response to the light treatments in total seedling dry weight(dw); far-red and red light treatments showed the greatest and the least dw of hypocotyl, respectively, while blue and red lights did the greatest dw of the other organs. Among the ratio of each organ dw to total dw, those of hypocotyl and true leaves were different between the light treatments; the highest ratio of hypocotyl dw to total dw was observed in far-red light treatment but the lowest was in red light treatment. Those of the true leaves were the lowest in far-red light and similar response in blue or red light treatment. Chlorophyll content of cotyledons was decreased in order of red light treatment, blue and far-red lights, meaning that short period light treatment may influence photosynthesis of seeding and afterward its growth.

토양함수량의 조절에 의한 Glycine max. 인공군업의 성장과 총질소량의 변동에 관하여 (On the Growth and Total Nitrogen Changes of Glycine max. Artificial Plant Communities, Grown in Sandy Loam Soil withe a Controlled Moisture Content)

  • Dry matter production, leaf area growth and total nitrogen changes were studied in Glycine max. soybean communities, which were grown in sandy loam soils controlled to provide various moisture levels, i.e., 5-7%(level 1), 8-10%(level 2), 11-13%(level 3), 14-15%(lev디 4), 17-20%(level 5) and 22-24%(level 6). A summary of the results is shown. The maximum dry matter production of leaves, stems and nodules and the maximum leaf area per unit area were at level 5, but the maximum of root dry matter production was at level 4. Total nitrogen content of the soybean plant decreased with growth, but each level of soil moisture content also showed a little difference. Water content of the plant decreased with plant age and soil water deficiency, especially in roots and nodules. Nodule formation increased in proportion to soil moisture content. total nitrogen content of the soil on which the soybeans grew, increased from 0.23% before sowing to 0.30% at 100 days after sowing. It seems that soil water content acts as a linear factor in the elongation or dry weight increase of shoots and roots until increasing to level 5. Considering the pattern of plant growth through analysis of the shoot and root dry weight ratio, or the photosynthetic organ and non-photosynthetic organ dry weight ratio, the asymptote of plant growth at a high soil water content exceeded that at a low soil water content.

곤달비 분말이 첨가된 식빵의 물성 및 패널요원에 따른 관능적 특성 (Rheological Properties of White Bread Supplemented with Ligularia stenocephala Leaf Powder and Its Sensory Characteristics according to Survey Panel Members)

  • This study was designed to investigate the possible utilization of Ligularia stenocephala as a source of functional ingredients in white bread. In terms of color values, as more Ligularia stenocephala leaf powder was added, 'lightness,' 'redness,' and 'yellowness' decreased in the crust, while in the bread crumb 'lightness' and 'yellowness' decreased, but 'redness' increased. When 5.0%, 7.5%, or 10.0% Ligularia stenocephala leaf powder was substituted for an equivalent amount of strong flour, the ratio of the volume and specific volume of white bread decreased while its weight increased. In the texture measurements for the white breads, the hardness decreased slightly with the addition of 2.5% Ligularia stenocephala leaf powder, but increased with the addition of 5.0%, 7.5%, or 10.0% Ligularia stenocephala leaf powder. The addition of the Ligularia stenocephala leaf powder also increased the springiness and gumminess of the white bread. The highest sensory scores for color, flavor, taste, texture, and overall acceptance for both the student group and the baker group were obtained from white bread with 5.0% Ligularia stenocephala leaf powder. The highest sensory scores for the housewife group for taste, texture, and overall acceptance were obtained from control bread. Through the results of these experiments, we conclude that the highest quantity of Ligularia stenocephala leaf powder content should be no more than 5.0% when making bread with added Ligularia stenocephala leaf powder.

임간재배지에서 상대광도에 따른 병풍쌈의 생장 및 엽특성 비교 (Comparison of Growth and Leaf Characteristics of Parasenecio firmus by Different Relative Light Intensity in Forest Farming)

  • This study was carried out to produce more Parasenecio firmus in forest farming. In order to achieve this purpose, it was surveyed the growth and photosynthetic characteristics of P. firmus. Relatively light intensity was controlled by 100%, 60%, 30% and 5% of full sunlight. Height was the highest under 5% of full sunlight. Shoot diameter was the highest in full sunlight. Fresh weight (leaf, stem, root and total) and dry weight (leaf, root and total) were the highest under 30% of full sunlight. S (leaf+stem)/R (root) ratio was the lowest under 30% of full sunlight and the highest under 5% of full sunlight. In leaf characteristics, leaf area, SLA and LAR were getting higher in the lower light level and the highest under 5% of full sunlight ($176.1cm^2$, $420.5cm^2{\cdot}g^{-1}$ and $123.5cm^2{\cdot}g^{-1}$). Especially, leaf area was surveyed higher under 30% of full sunlight in the next. Leaf thickness was getting lower in the lower light level and the lowest under 5% of full sunlight (overall 0.14~0.24 mm). As a result of surveying the whole experiment, P. firmus grows well under 30% and 5% of full sunlight in forest farming.

Evaluation and classification of selected rice varieties for salinity tolerance at seedling stage

  • To identify the new source of breeding materials for rice salt tolerance, the salinity tolerance of thirty-four varieties was evaluated under 0.5% saline condition at seedling stage. The salinity score showed highly significant correlations to dry weight and dead leaf ratio. The tested varieties were classified into three groups by visual score, reduction ratio of dry weight, and dead leaf ratio. Eighteen varieties were classified as the highly tolerant group (salinity scores of 1.3-3.7), seven varieties were fallen into the tolerant group (salinity scores of 4.2-5.8), and others were susceptible (salinity scores of 6.7-9.0). In highly tolerant group, most indica varieties including Getu, Dikwee and Kuatic Putic, didn't exsert a panicle under the Korean climate. But six varieties, Xiangcho V, Annapuruna, HP 3319-2wx-6-3-1, Giza 175, and GZ 2447-S-17, GZ 4255-6-3 were suitable to the Korean climate, and their heading date (6-16, August) and culm length (65-78㎝) were similar to the Korean varieties. Accordingly, these varieties can be utilized as crossing materials for the salt tolerance in japonica rice.

간척지 사료작물 재배에 있어서 모래를 이용한 토양 mulching의 효과 I. 제염효과와 작물생육 (Effects of Sand Mulching on Forage Production in Newly Reclaimed Tidal Lands I. Desalination of the soils and crop perfomanc)

  • A two year's field experiment was conducted on newly reclaimed saline tidal lands to measure the effects of sand mulching on salinity of the soils and their relationship to crop performance. Hybrid sorghum cv. Pioneer 931 was grown under different mulching treatments using of medium sand and red earth (Fine loamy, Typic Hapludults). Salinity in the root zone was decreased markedly under soil mulching using of medium sand, especially during the dry season, and it caused a great increase in the root growth and R/T ratio. Seasonal values of electrical conductivity at sand mulching were 6.6 in April and 1.6 mmhos in August, but it was still high with a concentration of 12.7 (April) and 3.8 mmhos (August) in untreated check plot. Sand mulching increased plant growth and the rate of dry matter accumulation. However, treatment of red earth additionally over sand mulching produced lower dry matter yield than those of soil mulching using of medium sand only. Under salt stress sorghum plant showed a decrease in the leaf weight ratio (LWR) and it resulted in a low concentration of crude protein of the plant. Sand mulching enhanced leaf weight ratio and rate of protein synthesis.
