알칼리 용융 및 수 침출을 이용한 탄화텅스텐으로부터 텅스텐 회수 (Tungsten Recovery from Tungsten Carbide by Alkali Melt followed by Water Leaching)

  • 알칼리 용융법과 수 침출을 이용하여 탄화텅스텐(WC)으로부터 텅스텐(W) 회수에 관한 연구를 실시하였다. 알칼리 용융 처리는 알칼리염의 종류, 용융온도 및 용융시간을 변화시키면서 실시하였으며, 수 침출은 $25^{\circ}C$, 2시간 및 슬러리 농도 10 g/L로 고정하여 실시하였다. 알칼리염으로 질산나트륨($NaNO_3$)만 단독으로 사용한 경우, W의 수 침출율은 63.3%이었지만, 용융 첨가제인 수산화나트륨(NaOH) 혼합량이 증가할수록 침출율은 증가하였으며, 몰비 $WC:NaNO_3:NaOH=1:2:2$로 혼합한 용융물에서는 97.8%까지 증가하였다. NaOH는 용융 반응의 반응열 증가로 인한 반응 촉진제 역할을 한 것으로 판단된다.

  • Use of heavy fuel fly ash (HFFA) (diesel and cracked fuel) for power generation in Saudi Arabia has generated and accumulated large quantities of HFFA as a byproduct. In this research, HFFA is studied with the emphasis on the utilization of this waste material in concrete blocks and asphalt concrete mixes. Two types of mixes, one with low and other with high cement content, were studied for concrete blocks. Different mixes having varying percentages of HFFA (0% to 25%), as cement/sand replacement or as an additive, were studied. The performance of concrete blocks is evaluated in terms of compressive strength, water absorption, durability and environmental concerns. The results showed that blocks cannot be cast if more than 15% HFFA is used; also there is a marginal reduction in the strength of all the mixes before and after being exposed to the sulfate solution for a period of ten months. HFFA is studied in asphalt concrete mixes in two ways, as an asphalt modifier (3&5%) and as a filler (50%) replacement, the results showed an improvement in stiffness and fatigue life of mixes. However, the stability and indirect tensile strength loss were found to be high as compared to the control mix due to moisture damage, indicating a need of using antistripping agents. On environmental concerns, it was found that most of the concerned elements are within acceptable limits also it is observed that lower concentration of barium is leached out with the higher HFFA concentrations, which indicates that HFFA may work as an adsorbent for this leaching element.

연일층군 이암에서 산출되는 알루미늄 황산염 광물의 결정화학 및 생성 (I): 배사알루미나팅, 하이드로베사알루미나이트 및 메타배사알루미나이트 (Crystal Chemistry and Paragenesis of Aluminum Sulphates from Mudstones of the Yeonil Group (I): basaluminite, hydrbasaluminite, and metabasaluminite)

  • In Pohang area, basaluminite accompanying a little amounts of hydrobasalumnite, super-genetically occurs as whitish cryptocrystalline (2-4 $\mu\textrm{m}$) clay-like aggregates in the vicinity of altered carbonate concretions embedded within mudstones of the Tertiary Yeonil Group. A hydrobasaluminite changed readily into a basaluminite at room temperature in air, and, in turn, into a metabasaluminite when heating to 150$^{\circ}$~30$0^{\circ}C$. For the basaluminite, a monoclinic unit-cellparameters (a=14.845$\AA$, b=10.006$\AA$, c=11.082$\AA$, $\beta$=122.15$^{\circ}$) were calculated by X-ray powder diffraction data. Its basal reflections (001 and 002) are XRD analyses strongly indicate that the aluminum sulphate mineral has a layer structure and, at least, three types of water, i.e., (1) interlayer water (9.0 wt %), (2) crystal water (8.0 wt %), and (3) structural water (19.0 wt %). may present in its lattice. Based on TG-DTG data combined with EDS and IR analyses, a new chemical formula of Al5SO4(OH)134H2O was given to the basaluminite. Field occurrence and stable isotope data ($\delta$18O, $\delta$D, $\delta$34S) for the basaluminite seem to reflect that it was formed by the leached meteoric solution from surrounding mudstones during or after uplifting. An interaction of the acid solution with carbonate concretion and the resultant local neutralization of the fluid rich in Al3+ and SO42- are major controls on the basaluminite formation.

상온에서 토착박테리아를 이용한 방연석의 용출 특상 (Bioleaching of Galena by Indigenous Bacteria at Room Temperature)

  • 방연석으로부터 유용금속이온을 용출시키기 위하여 토착박테리아를 실험실온도에서 최적의 pH 조건이 아닌 상태로 용출실험을 실시하였다. 이와 같은 조건에서도 $0.4{\times}0.2{\mu}m$에서 $0.5{\times}1.7{\mu}m$ 범위의 막대 모양 박테리아들이 방연석 표면에 부착하였다. 미생물 용출실험 19일 후에, Pb, Fe, Zn 이온 함량이 비교시료에서 보다 박테리아 시료에서 각각 약 347, 222, 1.7배 이상으로 높게 용출되었다. 수많은 육각형 주상의 결정들이 방연석의 표변에 형성된 것이 관찰되었으며, 이들 결정들은 토착 박테리아의 미생물학적 산화작용에 의하여 방연석으로부터 생성된 것으로 생각된다. XRD 분석에서, 황산연광에 해당되는 회절선이 방연석 시료에서 관찰되었다. 만약 박테리아가 최적으로 생존할 수 있는 pH 조건과 온도 조건을 조성해 준다면 더 많은 유용금속 이온이 방연석으로부터 용출 될 것으로 기대된다.

제주도 토양 중 비이온계 농약의 흡착 및 용탈 특성 (Adsorption and Leaching Characteristics of Nonionic Pesticides in Soils of Jeju Island, Korea)

  • Agricultural soils around springwaters heavily affected by pesticide run-off and around wells considering the regional characteristics were collected at 24 stations in Jeju Island, and the physicochemical properties and adsorption and leaching characteristics of four nonionic pesticides (diazinon, fenitrothion, alachlor, and metalaxyl) were investigated. The values of the major soil factors affecting the adsorption and leaching of pesticides, namely, soil pH($H_2O$), organic matter content, and cation exchange capacity (CEC), were in the range of 4.64 ~ 8.30, 0.9 ~ 13.1% and 12.7 ~ 31.7 meq/100 g, respectively. The Freundlich constant, $K_F$ value, which gives a measure of the adsorption capacity, decreased in the order of fenitrothion > diazinon > alachlor > metalaxyl, which was identical to their lower water solubility. Among the collected soils, the $K_F$ value was very highly correlated with organic matter content ($r^2=0.800{\sim}0.876$) and CEC ($r^2=0.715{\sim}0.825$) and showed a high correlation with clay content ($r^2=0.473{\sim}0.575$) and soil pH($H_2O$) ($r^2=0.401{\sim}0.452$). The leaching of pesticides in the soil column showed a reverse relationhip with their adsorption in soils, i.e., the pesticides leached more quickly for the soils with lower values of organic matter content and CEC among the soils and for the pesticides with higher water solubility.

실리카졸 약액의 환경영향성 검토 및 내구증진방안 (Environmental Impact Review and Improvement of Durability of Silicasol-cement Grout Material)

  • 본 연구는 최근 개발된 실리카졸 그라우팅재의 환경영향성 및 내구성을 규명한 것으로써 연구에 사용된 그라우트재는 3차원 겔 형성재인 실리카졸 그라우팅제와 규산나트륨 그라우팅제에 대한 공학적 특성을 비교하기 위하여 전자현미경 촬영, 내화학성시험, 용탈시험, 투수시험 등을 통해 친환경성과 내구성을 규명하고자 하였다. 전자현미경 촬영 결과 실리카졸 그라우팅제의 표면 및 내부조직이 규산나트륨보다 치밀함을 확인할 수 있었다. 용탈시험 결과 용탈되는 원소의 총량도 극히 작아 친환경적인 재료임을 입증되어 지반주입재로써 적용성을 확인하였다. 투수시험 결과 실리카졸이 차수성면에서 현장에 적용하는데 무리가 없다고 판단되어 차수성을 요구하는 현장에 적용이 가능하다고 판단된다.

  • Hardened cement paste is mainly affected by corrosion of sulphate and chlorine ions in sea water. In this investigation, many specimens were made with the cement clinker minerals such as C3S, C3A, C4AF and their mixture according to cement composition added various blending materials. After the specimens were immersed in 4% MgSO4 and MgCl2 solutions, the product of reaction, the microstructure of specimen and Ca+2 ion leached in the solution were studied. The formation of Ca(OH)2 in the specimen of C3S is reduced relatively by adding pozzolanic admixtures. The chlorine ion is easily diffuse into the C3S specimen and produced CaCl2 compound, and it makes the specimen porous by leaching out itself into the solution. The specimen of C3A, C4AF are broken down by expanding reaction of ettringite and gypsum compound produced in the MgSO4 solution. At a later period, the ettringite is transformed into gypsum and 5MgO.2Al2O3·15H2O. The C3A in the MgCl2 solution combines chlorine ion to form Friedel's salt and prevents the diffusion reaction of chlorine ion into the specimen. Granulated slag shows inferior effect on the resistance of the specimen in MgSO4 solution by forming ettringite and gypsum, but good result in MgCl2 solution. Pozzolanic materials, on the whole, offer noticable effect on the resistance of the specimen in both solutions.

Additional Study on the Laser Sealing of Dye-Sensitized Solar-Cell-Panels Using V2O5 and TeO2 Containing Glass

  • The effective glass frit composition used to absorb laser energy and to seal commercial dye-sensitized solar cell panel substrates has been previously developed using $V_2O_5-TeO_2$-based glass with 10 wt% ${\beta}$-eucryptite as a CTE controlling filler. The optimum sealing conditions are provided using a 3 mm beam, a laser power of 40 watt, a scan speed of 300 mm/s, and 200 irradiation cycles. In this study, the feasibility of the developed glass frit is investigated in terms of the sealing strength and chemical durability against the commercial iodide/triiodide electrolyte solution and fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) electrode in order to increase the solar cell lifetime. The sealing strength of the laser-sealed $V_2O_5-TeO_2$-based glass frit is $20.5{\pm}1.7MPa$, which is higher than those of thermally sealed glass frit and other reported glass frit. Furthermore, the developed glass frit is chemically stable against electrolyte solutions. The glass frit constituents are not leached out from the glass after soaking in the electrolyte solution for up to three months. During the laser sealing, the glass frit does not react with the FTO electrode; thus, the resistivity of the FTO electrode beneath the laser-sealed area remains the same.

Depth Profiles of Heavy Metals in the Surface Sediments of Haedong Reservoir

  • We investigated the depth profiles of heavy metals in the surface sediments at Haedong reservoir in Pusan. Sampling was done at the intervals of 50 m of drift along the water channel into the reservoir. All samples were analyzed with an ICP-AES. We determined the content of Zn, Pb, Cd, Mn, Cu, Cr, and Fe. The overall mean content of these heavy metals were observed to $(2.9{\pm}1.2){\times}10^{-3}$, $(1.3{\pm}0.7){\times}10^{-3}$, $(1.9{\pm}2.1){\times}10^{-4}$ $(2.3{\pm}1.1){\times}10^{-2}$ $(1.6{\pm}1.0){\times}10{-3}$, and $(4.5{\pm}2.6){\times}10^{-4}$ ppm/ppm Fe, recpectively excluding iron data. Mean contents of Cu show an increasing trend toward the surface of sediments, while those of U show a decreasing trend, and those of Pb and Cr are relatively stable. Comparing with the contents of heavy metals in soils at two sites of Kumjeong mountain, enrichment factors of heavy metals in the surface sediments were determined. Among heavy metals we investigated, copper showed the largest value of enrichment factor. Considering the maximum content of heavy metals in the surface sediment, the values of enrichment factors of Cu, Cd and Cr were significant which were n, 8.1 and 4.0, respectively. In leaching experiment, it appeared that Pb, Cd, Cr, and Fe in sediments were hardly leached out into water. We also examined the effect of pH on the content of heavy metals.

Oxalic acid용액에서 $LiCoO_2$의 선택침출 (Selective Leaching of $LiCoO_2$in an Oxalic Acid Solution)

  • 폐리튬이온전지로부터 추출한 $LiCoO_2$의 침출에서 황산, 질산과 같은 강산은 Co와 Li을 완전 용해시키므로 Co와 Li을 분리하여 회수하기 위해서는 별도의 공정이 필요하다. 낮은 pH에서 Co oxalate의 용해도가 낮다는 점을 착안한 oxalic acid 침출에서 양극활물질로부터 Co를 선택적으로 회수하는 연구를 수행하였다. 변수실험으로 도출된 최적조건, oxalic acid 3M, 침출온도 $80^{\circ}C$, 초기 광액농도 50g/L.의 조건에서 순수한 $LiCoO_2$를 침출한 결과, Li이 95% 이상 용해되는 반면에 Co는 1% 이하의 침출율을 나타내었다. 같은 침출조건에서 폐리튬이온전지로부터 선별한 양극활물질을 침출한 결과, Co와 Li의 침출율은 각각 0.25%, 99%로 높은 선택성을 보였다. 용액 중에 잔류하는 Li은 $Na_2$$CO_3$혹은 LiOH을 첨가하여 Li 탄산염 흑은 Li 수산화물의 형태로 회수할 수 있다.
