Simplified analytical solution of tunnel cross section under oblique incident SH wave in layered ground

  • A simplified analytical solution for seismic response of tunnel cross section in horizontally layered ground subjected to oblique incidence of SH wave is deduced in this paper. The proposed analytical solution consists of two main steps: free-field response in layered field and tunnel response. The free field responses of the layered ground are obtained by one-dimensional finite element method in time domain. The tunnel lining is treated as a thick-wall cylinder to calculate the tunnel response, which subject to free field stress. The analytical solutions are verified by comparing with the dynamic numerical results of two-dimensional ground-lining interaction analysis under earthquake in some common situations, which have a good agreement. Then, the appropriate range of the proposed analytical solution is analyzed, considering the height of the layered ground, the wavelength and incident angle of SH wave. Finally, by using the analytical solutions, the effects of the ground material, burial depth of the tunnel, and lining thickness and the slippage effect at the ground-lining interface on the seismic response of tunnels are investigated. The proposed solution could serve as a useful tool for seismic analysis and design of tunnels in layered ground.

Simulations of Frequency-dependent Impedance of Ground Rods Considering Multi-layered Soil Structures

  • Lightning has a broad frequency spectrum from DC to a few MHz. Consequently, the high frequency performance of grounding systems for protection against lightning should be evaluated, with the distributed parameter circuit model in a uniform soil being used to simulate grounding impedances. This paper proposes a simulation method which applies the distributed parameter circuit model for the frequency-dependent impedance of vertically driven ground rods by considering multi-layered soil structures where ground rods are buried. The Matlab program was used to calculate the frequency-dependent ground impedances for two ground rods of different lengths. As a result, an increase of the length of ground rod is not always followed by a decrease of grounding impedance, at least at a high frequency. The results obtained using the newly proposed simulation method considering multi-layered soil structures are in good agreement with the measured results.

  • Rapid urbanization of many cities require large scale constructions such as high rise buildings in difficult ground conditions. SIP(Soil-cement Injected Precast pile) type piles are tile most popular choice of foundation method in soft ground as well as layered ground in many cities in Korea since SIP offer negligible amount of noise and vibration. But SIP method of construction provide wide range of pile capacity depending on the construction method, equipment, ground conditions and quality control method etc. Therefore this paper intend to investigate the reliability of SIP pile in layered ground through a comparison of existing design formulars and SIP pile load test.

점토와 모래가 포함된 다층지반의 경험토압 산정방법에 관한 연구 (The Calculation Method of Apparent Earth Pressure in Multi-Layered Ground with Clay and Sand)

  • 단일지반에서의 경험토압을 다층지반에 적용할 때 각 지층이 토압에 기여하는 효과를 고려할 수 없는 문제 등을 해결하고자 국내외에서 지반굴착시 측정된 토압을 조사하고 분석하였다. 다층지반의 토압은 단일지반의 경험토압과 상이하고, 대표 토질이 아닌 지층의 토압 기여 효과를 고려할 수 없음을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 단일지반에 대한 경험토압 산정방법을 다층지반까지 확장하여 단일지반과 다층지반 모두 적용 가능한 방법을 제안하고 검증하였다. 제안방법은 굴착심도 0.1Z/H 이하에서 실측값에 더 근접한 토압을 예측하는 등 기존 단일지반의 토압보다 예측 신뢰도가 우수한 것으로 평가되었다. 제안방법 중 주동상태에서의 파괴면적비를 고려하는 방법이 지반공학적 타당성을 갖추고도 실측토압과 가장 유사한 결과를 도출하였다. 또한, 제안방법의 적용성을 확인하고자 실제 설계사례에 대해 제안방법과 기존 방법의 설계 결과를 비교 분석하여 제시하였다.

  • 종래의 DGS를 이용한 초고주파 회로의 메탈 패키징(metal packaging)시 존재했던 DGS의 접지면 접촉 문제를 해결하고자, 본 논문에서는 이중 기판 결함 접지 구조 구조를 제안하고, 이를 1:4 비대칭 전력 분배기에 적용한 응용예를 제시한다. 이중 기판에 구현된 사각형 DGS는 종래와 같이 마이크로스트립 선로의 특성 임피던스를 표준형 선로보다 크게 증가시킨다. 이중 기판 DGS 구조를 형성하기 위하여 제2유전체 기판이 DGS가 구현된 기판면의 바닥 접지면에 접합된다. 따라서 제2유전체 기판이 메탈 패키지 바닥면에 장착되므로, DGS가 직접 패키지 접촉되는 것을 막을 수 있다. 초고주파 회로 응용예를 보이기 위해, 이중 기판 DGS를 이용하여 패키지 접지 문제를 해결한 1:4 비대칭 전력 분배기의 설계 및 측정 결과가 제시되는데, 시뮬레이션과 측정 결과에 있어서 잘 일치하는 특성을 보인다.

  • Seismic parameters fur computation of ground motions in Southern Korea are obtained from recently recorded data, and site-independent regional and site-dependent local strong ground motions are predicted using efficient computational techniques. For the computation of ground motions, we devised an efficient procedure to compute site-independent $x_{q}$ and dependent $x_{s}$ values separately. The first step of this procedure is to use the coda normalization method far computation of site independent Q or corresponding $x_{q}$ value. The next step is the computation of $x_{s}$, values fur each site separately using the given $x_{q}$ value. For computation of ground motions the empirical Green's function (EGF) is modified to account fur the depth and distance variations of subevents on a finite fault plane using the theoritical Green's function. It is computed using wavenumber integration technique in layered media. The site dependent ground motions at seismic stations in southeastern local area were properly simulated using the modified empirical Green's function method in layered medium. The proposed method and procedures fur estimation of site dependent seismic parameters and ground motions could be efficiently used in the low and moderate seismicity regions.ons.s.ons.

변형률 쐐기모델을 이용한 다층지반에서의 횡하중을 받는 말뚝의 적용성 평가 (Application on Pile Under Lateral Load in Multi Layered Ground Using the Strain Wedge Model)

  • 변형률 쐐기모델은 지반의 변형과 말뚝의 복합적인 상호거동을 반영하는 효과적인 횡방향 지지력 산정방법이며, 국내에서도 근래에 들어 실무에서 그 적용성이 점차 증가하고 있다. 특히 다층지반에서의 변형률 쐐기모델은 아직까지 국내에서 검증된 바가 없어, 다층지반에서 횡방향 하중을 받는 말뚝의 거동을 변형률 쐐기모델로 이해하기 위해서는 충분한 연구가 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 다층 지반에서도 변형률 쐐기모델이 지반과 말뚝의 복합거동을 모사할 수 있는 유효한 모델인지 확인하기 위하여 모형실험과 수치해석기법으로 그 적용성을 확인해 보았다. 모형말뚝을 이용하여 직접 횡방향 하중을 재하시킴으로써 말뚝의 거동특성을 평가하고, 주면 마찰저항력의 크기로 지반의 변형률을 평가하여 지반의 수동쐐기를 도출하면서 지층의 강성에 따른 수동쐐기의 상태변화를 확인함으로써 다층지반에서의 적용성을 확인하였다. 아울러 수치해석 기법을 이용하여 모형실험을 검증함으로써 모형실험의 신뢰성을 검증하여 변형률 쐐기모델의 적용성을 검증하였다.

이층지반과 단일지반의 열전달 거동 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Heat Transfer Characteristics in Double-Layered and Single-Layered Soils)

  • This paper presents how to analyze heat transfer characteristics of double-layered soils. Thermal response tests were conducted to measure the ground thermal conductivities of Joomunjin sand and double layered soils filled in a steel box of which the size is $5m{\times}1m{\times}1m$. Double-layered soils were composed of Joomunjin sand and Kaoline clay. Each thermal conductivity of Joomunjin sand and Kaloine clay was measured by using Heat Flow Meter considering different void ratio. The ground thermal conductivity of double-layered soils was 15% smaller than that of Joomunjin sand.

제한된 부지 다층 대지구조에서 위험전압을 고려한 접지설계 (Grounding Grid Design Considering the Dangerous Voltage of Multi-layered Model in the Constrained Sites)

  • In Korea, where most of the sites are narrow in space and their earth resistivity is relatively high, the spaces between grounding conductors are likely to be designed narrow in order to lower ground resistance and dangerous voltage below to the permitted safety values. In addition, ground nets are in the shape of square or rectangle depending on the location and size of the facilities and ground contact area, and inner conductors are laid out in grids like the pattern of nets. Nevertheless, with the existing designs, the marginal voltage for safety gets higher as the area is extended further outside, in comparison with that of inner mesh grounding, thus causing much difficulty maintaining them equipotential, and there exist limits in the burial, grounding grid design considering the dangerous voltage of muti-layered model in the constrained sites, was studied.

  • If a structure is founded on the ground saturated with pore water, then the ground should be modeled as a saturated two-phase porous medium for accurate earthquake response analysis. In this study, an axisymmetric transmitting boundary hyperelement is developed for modeling of far field of the ground using u-U formulation for water-saturated transversely isotropic layered stratum. The developed hyperelement is verified by comparing the dynamic stiffness of rigid circular foundation on water-saturated isotropic layered stratum with the case of using equivalent single-phase medium model.
