Atmospheric boundary layer winds experience two types of effects due to friction at the ground surface. One effect is the increase of the wind speeds with height above the surface. The second effect, called the Ekman layer effect, entails veering - the change of the wind speed direction as a function of height above the surface. In this study a practical procedure is developed within a database-assisted design (DAD) framework that accounts approximately for veering effects on tall building design. The procedure was applied in a case study of a 60-story reinforced concrete building, which also considered the dependence of veering effects on the orientation of the building. Comparisons are presented between response estimates that do not account for veering, and account for veering conservatively. For the case studied in this paper veering effects were found to be small.
In recent literature on traffic scheduling, the combination of the two-dimensional discrete-time Markov chain (DTMC) and the Markov modulated Poisson process (MMPP) is used to analyze the capacity of VoIP traffic in the cognitive radio system. The performance of the cognitive radio system solely depends on the accuracy of spectrum sensing techniques, the minimization of false alarms, and the scheduling of traffic channels. In this paper, we only emphasize the scheduling of traffic channels (i.e., traffic handling techniques for the primary user [PU] and the secondary user [SU]). We consider the following three different traffic models: the cross-layer analytical model, M/G/1(m) traffic, and the IEEE 802.16e/m scheduling approach to evaluate the performance of the VoIP services of the cognitive radio system from the context of blocking probability and throughput.

Missile operating at supersonic conditions experiences considerable high temperature environments that is caused by aerodynamic heating as a result of the temperature gradient through boundary layer that surrounds it. This is one of important problems to the designer due to temperature limitation of structural materials. Because prediction of aerodynamic heating on missile needs unsteady calculation according to a flight trajectory, approximate method approach is efficient at design stage. In this paper, improved aerodynamic heating analysis scheme is introduced, which calculates heat flow and temperature by simple pressure field prediction on a missile body and fin. The prediction results are compared with measured data and MINIVER codes results.
For the autoencoder (AE) implemented as a construction component, this paper uses the method of greedy layer-by-layer pre-training without supervision to construct the stacked autoencoder (SAE) to extract the abstract features of the original input data, which is regarded as the input of the logistic regression (LR) model, after which the click-through rate (CTR) of the user to the advertisement under the contextual environment can be obtained. These experiments show that, compared with the usual logistic regression model and support vector regression model used in the field of predicting the advertising CTR in the industry, the SAE-LR model has a relatively large promotion in the AUC value. Based on the improvement of accuracy of advertising CTR prediction, the enterprises can accurately understand and have cognition for the needs of their customers, which promotes the multi-path development with high efficiency and low cost under the condition of internet finance.
Aerodynamic pressures and forces were measured on a model of a solar panel containing six slender, parallel modules. Of particular importance to system design is the aerodynamically induced torque. The peak system torque was generally observed to occur at approach wind angles near the diagonals of the panel ($45^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$, $225^{\circ}$ and $315^{\circ}$) although large loads also occurred at $270^{\circ}$, where wind is in the plane of the panel, perpendicular to the individual modules. In this case, there was strong vortex shedding from the in-line modules, due to the observation that the module spacing was near the critical value for wake buffeting. The largest loads, however, occurred at a wind angle where there was limited vortex shedding ($330^{\circ}$). In this case, the bulk of the fluctuating torque came from turbulent velocity fluctuations, which acted in a quasi-steady sense, in the oncoming flow. A simple, quasi-steady, model for determining the peak system torque coefficient was developed.
Recently, the color separation issue of wide-spreading white LEDs has attracted attention due to their wide applicability as light sources in direct-lit LCD backlights. These wide-spreading LED packages usually consist of LED chips, a color-conversion phosphor layer, and a light-shaping lens. The technical aspect of this color issue was related to a method for balancing the yellow spectral component emitting from phosphors with respect to the blue one from the LED chip as a function of viewing angle. In this study, we suggested an approach for carrying out quantitative analysis for the color separation problem occurring in wide-spreading LED packages by optical simulation. In addition, the effect of an internal scattering layer on the color uniformity was investigated, which may be considered as a potential solution for this problem.

In this study, the insertion loss and phase delay according to the multi-layer structure radome parameters were analyzed using the boundary value solution approach, and the multi-layer structure and hexa mesh structures with low-loss electrical characteristics for the Ku-band transmission/reception frequency of 10.7 ~ 14.5 GHz were designed and manufactured. A hexa mesh was applied to minimize radio wave transmission and scattering, which lowered the transmittance refractive index according to the radio incident angle and minimized dielectric loss through high-density foam. Similar to the simulation result, the transmission loss obtained the gain in a specific receiving frequency band, and in the transmission frequency band, an excellent low loss characteristic was obtained with an insertion loss of 0.8dB or less. The results of this study can be used in radio transmission radomes of low-weight, low-cost end-system protection devices.
We present the simultaneous growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes and graphene with the optimal conditions of the synthesizing parameters. The dense and vertically aligned SWNTs having the length of over 100 ㎛ was grown by 2 nm-thick Fe catalytic layer. From 650 ℃, the vertically well-grown SWNTs were obtained by increasing the temperature. The severallayered graphene was synthesized with the gas mixing ratio of 15 : 1(H2 : C2H2) at 650 ℃ and higher temperatures. With these optimal conditions, the vertically well-grown SWNTs and the several-layered graphene were synthesized simultaneously. The presence of SWNTs and the layer of graphene were verified by field emission scanning electron microscopy and high resolution transmission electron microscopy. From the result of this simultaneous synthesizing approach, the possibility of one step growth process of CNTs and grapheme could be verified.
We measured two-dimensional (2-D) oxygen distribution in the surface sediment layer of intertidal sediment using a simple and inexpensive planar oxygen optode, which is based on a color ratiometric image approach. The recorded emission intensity of red color luminophore light significantly changed with oxygen concentration by $O_2$ quenching of platinum(II)octaethylporphyrin (PtOEP). The ratios between the intensity of red and green emissions with oxygen concentration variation demonstrated the Stern-Volmer relationship. The 2-D oxygen distribution image showed microtopographic structure, diffusivity boundary layer and burrow in surface sediment layer. The oxygen penetration depth (OPD) was about 2 mm and the one-dimensional vertical diffusive oxygen uptake (DOU) was 12.6 mmol $m^{-2}d^{-1}$ in the undisturbed surface sediment layer. However, those were enhanced near burrow by benthic fauna, and the OPD was two times deeper and DOU was increased by 34%. The simple and inexpensive oxygen planar optode has great application potential in the study of oxygen dynamics with high spatiotemporal resolution, in benthic boundary layers.

This paper demonstrates a real-time hybrid substructuring (RTHS) shake table test to evaluate the seismic performance of a base isolated building. Since RTHS involves a feedback loop in the test implementation, the frequency dependent magnitude and inherent time delay of the actuator dynamics can introduce inaccuracy and instability. The paper presents a robust stability and performance analysis method for the RTHS test. The robust stability method involves casting the actuator dynamics as a multiplicative uncertainty and applying the small gain theorem to derive the sufficient conditions for robust stability and performance. The attractive feature of this robust stability and performance analysis method is that it accommodates linearized modeled or measured frequency response functions for both the physical substructure and actuator dynamics. Significant experimental research has been conducted on base isolators and dampers toward developing high fidelity numerical models. Shake table testing, where the building superstructure is tested while the isolation layer is numerically modeled, can allow for a range of isolation strategies to be examined for a single shake table experiment. Further, recent concerns in base isolation for long period, long duration earthquakes necessitate adding damping at the isolation layer, which can allow higher frequency energy to be transmitted into the superstructure and can result in damage to structural and nonstructural components that can be difficult to numerically model and accurately predict. As such, physical testing of the superstructure while numerically modeling the isolation layer may be desired. The RTHS approach has been previously proposed for base isolated buildings, however, to date it has not been conducted on a base isolated structure isolated at the ground level and where the isolation layer itself is numerically simulated. This configuration provides multiple challenges in the RTHS stability associated with higher physical substructure frequencies and a low numerical to physical mass ratio. This paper demonstrates a base isolated RTHS test and the robust stability and performance analysis necessary to ensure the stability and accuracy. The tests consist of a scaled idealized 4-story superstructure building model placed directly onto a shake table and the isolation layer simulated in MATLAB/Simulink using a dSpace real-time controller.
