  • A new Triple well structure is proposed for improved latch-up immunity at deep submicron CMOS device. Optimum latch-up immunity process condition is established and analyzed with varying ion implantation energy and amount of dose and also compared conventional twin well structure. Doping profile and structure are investigated using ATHENA which is process simulator, and then latch-up current is calculated using ATLAS which is device simulator. Two types of different process are affected by latch-up characteristics and shape of doping profiles. Finally, we obtained the best latch-up immunity with 2.5[mA/${\mu}{m}$] trigger current using 2.5 MeV implantation energy and 1$\times$10$^{14}$ [cm$^{-2}$ ] dose at p-well

  • The purpose of this study is that developing the index which evaluate sound quality of door latch and improving its sound quality through that results. For that, various operating sound of door latch was used for jury test. Loudness and sharpness related metrics are dominant in sound quality index we developed. This research investigate the main transfer path of its operating sound through sound field visualization and get conclusion that could reduce the impact sound of door latch. Therefore, we could verify sound quality improvement of modified product by using sound quality index.

  • A soft error rate neutrons is a growing problem fur terrestrial integrated circuits with technology scaling. In the acceleration test with high-density neutron beam, a latch-up prohibits accurate estimations of the soft error rate (SER). This paper presents results of analysis for the latch-up characteristics in the circumstance corresponding to the acceleration SER test for SRAM. Simulation results, using a two-dimensional device simulator, show that the deep p-well structure has better latch-up immunity compared to normal twin and triple well structures. In addition, it is more effective to minimize the distance to ground power compared with controlling a path to the $V_{DD}$ power.

  • In this paper, two new flip-flop circuits with PCRAM latches that are FF-1 and FF-2, respectively, are proposed not to waste leakage during sleep time. Unlike the FF-1 circuit that has a normal PCRAM latch, the FF-2 circuit has a selective write latch that can reduce the switching activity in writing operation to save switching power at sleep-in moment. Moreover, a sequential sleep-in control is proposed to reduce the rush current peak that is observed at the sleep-in moment. From the simulation of storing '000000' to the PCRAM latch, we could verify that the proposed FF-1 and FF-2 consume smaller power than the conventional 45-nm FF if the sleep time is longer than $465{\mu}s$ and $95{\mu}s$, respectively, at $125^{\circ}C$. For the rush current peak, the sequential sleep-in control could reduce the current peak as much as 77%.

  • In the soft recoil system, the recoiling parts are initially accelerated to the forward direction. These parts are returned to original position by the firing with intial acceleration speed. The latch of the soft recoil system keeps the high impact load when the recoil parts were recuperated to the forward direction. In this study, the latch of soft recoil system using the ADAMS program was analyzed. The optimal operation parameters were found that max. angle and expansion length of latch was $50^{\circ}$, 180 mm respectively. Dynamic structural analyses of model cases were performed using finite element model. The max. stress and deflection of latch was 230 MPa and 0.45 mm respectively.

  • Breaking time is an important performance indicator of a circuit breaker. Thus, the operating mechanism of the circuit breaker should be optimized for reducing the breaking time. The operating mechanism in a gas circuit breaker is made up of several latches. Specifically, the geometry and relative positions of latches influence the dynamic behaviors of the operating mechanism. In this study, a three-stage latch operating mechanism is analyzed on the basis of the verified multibody dynamics model constructed using the MSC.ADAMS program. The relative positions and lengths of latches are selected as design variables. The dominant design variables are selected by a design study. Optimization is performed using a genetic algorithm (GA). The study results demonstrate that the performance of the circuit breaker improves by about 22.5.

  • In this paper, novel latch-up prevention method that employs power-up sequential switches has been proposed to relieve latch-up problem in liquid crystal display (LCD) driver ICs. These sequential switches are inserted in the 2'nd and 3'rd boosting stages, and are used to short the emitter-base terminals of parasitic p-n-p-n circuit before relevant boosting stages are activated during power-up sequence. To verily the performance of the proposed method, test chips were designed and fabricated in a 0.13-um CMOS process technology. The measurement results indicated that, while the conventional LCD driver If entered latch-up mode at $50^{\circ}C$ accompanying a significant amount of excess current, the driver IC adopting the proposed method showed no latch-up phenomenon up to $100^{\circ}C$ and maintained normal current level of 0.9mA.

  • Quantum-dot cellular automata(QCA) consists of nano-scale cells and demands very low power consumption so that it is one of the alternative technologies that can overcome the limits of scaling CMOS technologies. Various circuits on QCA have been researched until these days, a latch required for counter and state control has been proposed as a component of sequential logic circuits. A latch uses a feedback loop to maintain previous state. In QCA, a latch uses a square structure using 4 clocks for feedback loop. Previous latches have been proposed using many cells and clocks in coplanar. In this paper, in order to eliminate these defects, we propose a SR and D latch using multilayer structure on QCA. Proposed three dimensional loop structure is based on multilayer and consists of 3 layers. Each layer has 2 clock differences between layers in order to reduce interference. The proposed latches are analyzed and compared to previous designs.

  • We designed and fabricated a planner-type thermoelastic microactuator with a latch-up operation for optical switching. Latch-up actuation is prerequisite to implement an optical switch with low power consumption and high reliability. The proposed microactuator consists of four cantilever-shaped thermal actuators, four displacement linkages, two shallow arch-shaped leaf springs, a mobile shuttle mass with a micromirror, and four elastic boundaries. The structural layer of the planar microactuator is phosphorous-doped 12$\mu\textrm{m}$-thick polysilicon, and the sacrificial layer is LTO(Low Temperature Oxide) of 3$\mu\textrm{m}$thickness. The displacement of actuator is as large as 3$\mu\textrm{m}$when the length of actuation bar is 100$\mu\textrm{m}$in length at 5V input voltage. The proposed microactuators have advantages of easy assembly with other optical component by way of fiber alignment in the substrate plane, and its fabrication process features simplicity while retaining batch-fabrication economy.

  • Automobile trunk latches enable trunks to be opened and closed by a latch mechanism, which can be selectively positioned between a locked condition and an open condition. To maintain structural and electronic performance of the trunk latch, the latch needs to endure impact load that occurs in its open and close motion, and a dynamic mechanism needs to be electronically controled by a contact switch connected with a small DC motor. A base plate, which is the most important component relating to the structural safety, commonly uses a high stiffness material SAPH440-P with high manufacturing cost. In this paper, through structural analysis and optimization, production cost is significantly reduced by replacing SAPH440-P used in some region of the base plate with engineering plastic PBT GF 20%. The optimized contact switch reduces difference between distributed pressures of its two legs, which leads to improve the electronic performance of the trunk latch.
