용접선 자동추적을 위한 이중 전자기센서의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study of a Dual-Electromagnetic Sensor for Automatic Weld Seam Tracking)

  • The weld seam tracking system for arc welding process uses various kinds of sensors such as arc sensor, vision sensor, laser displacement and so on. Among the variety of sensors available, electro-magnetic sensor is one of the most useful methods especially in sheet metal butt-joint arc welding, primarily because it is hardly affected by the intense arc light and fume generated during the welding process, and also by the surface condition of weldments. In this study, a dual-electromagnetic sensor, which utilizes the induced current variation in the sensing coil due to the eddy current variation of the metal near the sensor, was developed for arc welding of sheet metal butt-joints. The dual-electromagnetic sensor thus detects the offset displacement of weld line from the center of sensor head even though there's no clearance in the joint. A set of design variables of the sensor were determined for the maximum sensing capability through the repeated experiments. Seam tracking is performed by correcting the position of sensor to the amount of offset displacement every sampling period. From the experimental results, the developed sensor showed the excellent capability of weld seam detection when the sensor to workpiece distance is near less than 5 mm, and it was revealed that the system has excellent seam tracking ability for the butt-joint of sheet metal.

REAL-TIME 3D MODELING FOR ACCELERATED AND SAFER CONSTRUCTION USING EMERGING TECHNOLOGY

  • The research presented in this paper enables real-time 3D modeling to help make construction processes ultimately faster, more predictable and safer. Initial research efforts used an emerging sensor technology and proved its usefulness in the acquisition of range information for the detection and efficient representation of static and moving objects. Based on the time-of-flight principle, the sensor acquires range and intensity information of each image pixel within the entire sensor's field-of-view in real-time with frequencies of up to 30 Hz. However, real-time working range data processing algorithms need to be developed to rapidly process range information into meaningful 3D computer models. This research ultimately focuses on the application of safer heavy equipment operation. The paper compares (a) a previous research effort in convex hull modeling using sparse range point clouds from a single laser beam range finder, to (b) high-frame rate update Flash LADAR (Laser Detection and Ranging) scanning for complete scene modeling. The presented research will demonstrate if the FlashLADAR technology can play an important role in real-time modeling of infrastructure assets in the near future.

UGV에서 효율적인 노면 모니터링을 위한 퓨전 센서 시스템 (A Fusion Sensor System for Efficient Road Surface Monitorinq on UGV)

  • 노면 모니터링은 노면의 함몰 정도 및 크랙 감지와 같은 위험 요소 관리를 통해 도로 환경의 안전성을 유지하는 필수적인 과정이다. 고성능 2D 레이저 센서를 탑재한 자율주행 기반 UGV를 활용한 정밀 측정이 가능하지만, 고성능 센서의 에너지 소모량 증가로 인해 배터리 용량에 대한 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 UGV에서 효율적인 노면 모니터링을 위한 퓨전 센서 시스템을 제안한다. 제안된 퓨전 센서 시스템은 카메라를 통한 칼라 정보와 선레이저 센서를 통한 깊이 정보를 결합하여 노면 모니터링의 정밀한 변위 탐지를 가능하게 한다. 또한 카메라 센서를 이용해 모니터링 대상의 탐지 여부에 따라 선레이저 센서 스캔 주파수를 동적으로 제어하는 동적 샘플링 알고리즘을 적용함으로써 불필요한 에너지 소모를 절감한다. 제안된 퓨전 센서 시스템에서의 평균 소비전력 모델을 제시하고 다양한 미션 환경의 크랙 분포 및 센서 특성을 고려하여 에너지 효율성을 분석한다. 성능 분석 결과, 선레이저 센서의 Active 상태 소비 전력이 Saving 상태의 2배이고, λ=10, µ=10인 환경에서 고정 샘플링 기법에 비해 전력 소비 효율이 13.3% 향상됨을 확인하였다.

다중 센서 융합을 사용한 자동차형 로봇의 효율적인 실외 지역 위치 추정 방법 (An Efficient Outdoor Localization Method Using Multi-Sensor Fusion for Car-Like Robots)

  • An efficient outdoor local localization method is suggested using multi-sensor fusion with MU-EKF (Multi-Update Extended Kalman Filter) for car-like mobile robots. In outdoor environments, where mobile robots are used for explorations or military services, accurate localization with multiple sensors is indispensable. In this paper, multi-sensor fusion outdoor local localization algorithm is proposed, which fuses sensor data from LRF (Laser Range Finder), Encoder, and GPS. First, encoder data is used for the prediction stage of MU-EKF. Then the LRF data obtained by scanning the environment is used to extract objects, and estimates the robot position and orientation by mapping with map objects, as the first update stage of MU-EKF. This estimation is finally fused with GPS as the second update stage of MU-EKF. This MU-EKF algorithm can also fuse more than three sensor data efficiently even with different sensor data sampling periods, and ensures high accuracy in localization. The validity of the proposed algorithm is revealed via experiments.

맵핑용 3차원 영상 레이저 레이다의 시스템 설계 및 성능 분석 (System Design and Performance Analysis of 3D Imaging Laser Radar for the Mapping Purpose)

  • The system design and the system performance analysis of 3D imaging laser radar system for the mapping purpose is addressed in this article. For the mapping, a push-bloom scanning method is utilized. The pulsed fiber laser with high pulse energy and high pulse repetition rate is used for the light source of laser radar system. The high sensitive linear mode InGaAs avalanche photo-diode is used for the laser receiver module. The time-of-flight of laser pulse from the laser to the receiver is calculated by using high speed FPGA based signal processing board. To reduce the walk error of laser pulse regardless of the intensity differences between pulses, the time of flight is measured from peak to peak of laser pulses. To get 3D image with a single pixel detector, Risley scanner which stirs the laser beam in an ellipsoidal pattern is used. The system laser energy budget characteristics is modeled using LADAR equation, from which the system performances such as the pulse detection probability, false alarm and etc. are analyzed and predicted. The test results of the system performances are acquired and compared with the predicted system performance. According to test results, all the system requirements are satisfied. The 3D image which was acquired by using the laser radar system is also presented in this article.

지상 레이저 스캐닝과 TS 측량을 이용한 멀티빔 시스템의 검·보정 (Calibration of Hydrographic Survey Multibeam System Using Terrestrial Laser Scanning and TS Surveying)

  • 수로측량에서 멀티빔 시스템에 의해 측량된 자료는 여러 가지 요인들에 의해 다양한 오차들을 포함한다. 이들은 패치 테스트라는 검정 단계를 통해 보정되며, 기존의 방법을 이용한 경우 정확한 시스템 검정을 위해 약 8회 내외의 테스트가 수행되어야한다. 본 연구에서 보다 신속하고 정확한 멀티빔 시스템 검 보정을 위해, 지상 레이저 스캐닝기술과 TS 측량을 이용하여 선박의 정확한 오프셋이 결정되었고, 이러한 자료를 초기 입력값으로 한 패치 테스트가 수행되었다. 그 결과, TS 측량에서 폐합오차가 0.001 m, 스캐닝에서의 후시 관측 오차가 0.005 m 이내였다. 동일한 지역 좌표계로 획득된 모든 측량자료는 선박 기준 좌표계로 변환되었고, 이 과정에서 모든 회전각에 대한 결정계수는 0.99 이상, 표준편차는 0.008 m 이하로 나타났다. 끝으로, 계산된 탑재 센서 오프셋과 모션 센서 오프셋을 이용한 패치 테스트에서 멀티빔 송수파기 오프셋은 단 1회의 보정만으로 수로측량 업무규정을 만족하였다. 이러한 결과에 비춰볼 때, 멀티빔 시스템의 검 보정에서 지상 레이저 스캐닝 및 TS 측량의 활용 가능성이 충분히 있다고 판단된다.

Hierarchical Object Recognition Algorithm Based on Kalman Filter for Adaptive Cruise Control System Using Scanning Laser

  • Not merely running at the designated constant speed as the classical cruise control, the adaptive cruise control (ACC) maintains safe headway distance when the front is blocked by other vehicles. One of the most essential part of ACC System is the range sensor which can measure the position and speed of all objects in front continuously, ignore all irrelevant objects, distinguish vehicles in different lanes and lock on to the closest vehicle in the same lane. In this paper, the hierarchical object recognition algorithm (HORA) is proposed to process raw scanning laser data and acquire valid distance to target vehicle. HORA contains two principal concepts. First, the concept of life quantifies the reliability of range data to filter off the spurious detection and preserve the missing target position. Second, the concept of conformation checks the mobility of each obstacle and tracks the position shift. To estimate and predict the vehicle position Kalman filter is used. Repeatedly updated covariance matrix determines the bound of valid data. The algorithm is emulated on computer and tested on-line with our ACC vehicle.

P형 4H-SiC 기판에 형성된 ZnO 박막/나노선 가스 센서의 300℃에서 CO 가스 감지 특성 (CO Gas Sensing Characteristic of ZnO Thin Film/Nanowire Based on p-type 4H-SiC Substrate at 300℃)

  • ZnO thin films were deposited on p-type 4H-SiC substrate by pulsed laser deposition. ZnO nanowires were formed on p-type 4H-SiC substrate by furnace. Ti/Au electrodes were deposited on ZnO thin film/SiC and ZnO nanowire/SiC structures, respectively. Structural and crystallographical properties of the fabricated ZnO thin film/SiC and ZnO nanowire/SiC structures were investigated by field emission scanning electron microscope and X-ray diffraction. In this work, resistance and sensitivity of ZnO thin film/SiC gas sensor and ZnO nanowire/SiC gas sensor were measured at $300^{\circ}C$ with various CO gas concentrations (0%, 90%, 70%, and 50%). Resistance of gas sensor decreases at CO gas atmosphere. Sensitivity of ZnO nanowire/SiC gas sensor is twice as big as sensitivity of ZnO thin film/SiC gas sensor.

MEMS 기반 생체모사 음향센서 제작 및 주파수 특성 분석 (Fabrication of Biomimetic MEMS Acoustic Sensor and Analysis of Its Frequency Characteristics)

  • 인간의 청각기능을 보조하거나 대체할 수 있는 차세대 인공와우기술의 개발은 기존 인공와우의 단점인 잦은 충전, 장애 노출 등을 극복하고 향상된 음감을 전달할 수 있는 기술로서 세계적으로 많은 연구를 수행하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 달팽이관의 기저막이 갖는 주파수 분리 기능 및 유모세포(haircell)의 이온채널 작용에 의한 생체 전기신호 발생 기능을 할 수 있는 PVDF(polyvinylidene fluoride) 압전 박막형 인공기저막을 설계, 제작 및 시험평가를 하고자 하였다. 생체 기저막과 유사한 주파수 분리 특성을 갖는 사다리꼴 형상의 인공기저막을 제작하고, MEMS 공정을 이용한 전극 증착 및 유체 유동이 가능한 챔버를 형성하였다. 또한 인공기저막의 거동을 측정하기 위하여 비접촉 LDV측정 장비, 스피커, 기준 마이크로폰 등을 사용하여 실험 장치를 구성하였다. 기계적 성능시험 결과, PVDF 압전박막형 인공기저막은 입사하는 음파의 주파수 분리를 잘 수행할 수 있음을 실험적으로 입증하였다.

비전센서를 이용한 용접선 자동추적에 관한 연구 (A Study on Automatic Seam Tracking using Vision Sensor)

  • A CCD camera with a laser stripe was applied to realized the automatic weld seam tracking. The 3-dimensional information obtained from the vision system made it possible to generate the weld torch path. The adaptive Hough transformation was used to extract laser stripes an to obtain specific weld points. It takes relatively long time to process image on-line control using the basic control using the basic Hough transformation, but it has a tendency of robustness over the noises such as spatter. For this reason, it was complemented with adaptive Hough transformation to have an on-line processing ability for scanning specific weld points. The dead zone, where the sensing of weld line is impossible, was eliminated by rotating the camera with its rotating axis centered at the weld torch. When weld lines were detected, the camera angle was controlled in order to get the minimum image data for sensing of weld lines. Consequently, the image processing time was reduced.
