Tool Wear Monitoring with Vision System by Block Processing (화상의 블럭처리기법을 이용한 공구마멸 측정기술)

  • It is well known that the interest on the on-line sensing of tool wear is growing more and more with the aim of controlling machine tools productivity from the point of view of quality. This paper describes the sensing of the amount of flank wear with vision system. To obtain a proper image He-Ne laser generator is used as the lighting source and obtained image is processed with block processing algorithm and morphological image processing method. By means of this system it is possible to evaluate the parameters of tool wear. Experimental tests performed with this system on an NC lathe have shown good performances here described and discussed.

Irradiation of Intense Characteristic X-rays from Weakly Ionized Linear Plasma

  • Intense quasi-monochromatic x-ray irradiation from the linear plasma target is described. The plasma x-ray generator employs a high-voltage power supply, a low-impedance coaxial transmission line, a high-voltage condenser with a capacity of about 200 nF, a turbo-molecular pump, a thyristor pulse generator as a trigger device, and a flash x-ray tube. The high-voltage main condenser is charged up to 55 kV by the power supply, and the electric charges in the condenser are discharged to the tube after triggering the cathode electrode. The x-ray tube is of a demountable triode that is connected to the turbo molecular pump with a pressure of approximately 1 mPa. As electron flows from the cathode electrode are roughly converged to the molybdenum target by the electric field in the tube, the weakly ionized plasma, which consists of metal ions and electrons, forms by the target evaporating. In the present work, the peak tube voltage was almost equal to the initial charging voltage of the main condenser, and the peak current was about 20 kA with a charging voltage of 55 kV. When the charging voltage was increased, the linear plasma x-ray source grew, and the characteristic x-ray intensities of K-series lines increased. The quite sharp lines such as hard x-ray lasers were clearly observed. The quasi-monochromatic radiography was performed by a new film-less computed radiography system.

  • This is a research to apply 1310nm single-mode optical fiber to a temperature sensor. The existing study of optical fiber sensor is complicated because it was made with various equipment. To vary scattering, the variation of optical frequency is measured by using Bragg(lattice) or pulse generator and also bulk system is created by YAG laser but there were some difficulties creating experimental environment and it was a problem that the stability of measured data was low. The temperature sensor system using the suggested sBs(stimulated Brillouin scattering:sBs) from this research is much more simplified straight-line system. To improve the trust and accuracy of noises from optical frequency and unclear results, it was analysed by using Neuro-Fuzzy algorithm. we tried to get more correct data than existing system. sBs measure that optical frequency changed due to the variation of temperature. The analyzed change rate of outcome by Fuzzy theory is 1.1 MHz.

Control Method of Mobile Robots for Avoiding Slip and Turnover on Sloped Terrain Using a Gyro/Vision Sensor Module (Gyro/Vision Sensor Module을 이용한 주행 로봇의 미끄러짐 및 넘어짐 회피 제어 기법)

  • This acticle describes the control method of mobile robots for avoiding slip and turnover on sloped terrain. An inexpensive gyro/vision sensor module is suggested for obtaining the information of terrain at present and future. Using the terrain information and the robot state, the maximum limit velocity of the forward velocity of the robot is defined fur avoiding slip and turnover of the robot. Simultaneously the maximum value of the robot velocity is reflected to an operator in the form of reflective force on a forte feedback joystick. Consequently the operator can recognize the maximum velocity of the robot determined by the terrain information and the robot state. In this point of view, the inconsistency of the robot movement and the user's command caused by the limit velocity of the robot can be compensated by the reflective force. The experimenal results show the effectiveness of the suggested method.
