  • Cutrent technological development toward miniaturization requires smaller components. These components usually generate complex multi-DOF motions other than simple 1-DOF motlon. Therefore it is essential to develop measurement methodology for 6-DOF motions. In this paper, a new 6-DOF measurement system for milli-struchlre is presented. This methodology basically employs the Optical Beam Deflection Method (OBDM) with a diffraction grating. A laser beam is emitted toward the difliaction grating which could be attached on the surface of a milli-structue and the incident ray is dif'||'&'||'acted in several directions. Among these difliacted beams, $0^{th}$ and $\pm$ $1^{th}4" order difkicted rays are detected by 4 Quadrant Photodiodes. From coordinate values fram each detector, we can get information for 6-DOF motions with lineariration method, Required resolutions for milli-struchue measurement are suh-micrometer in translation and arcsec in rotation. Experimental results indicate that proposed system has possibility to satisfy this requirement.

  • This paper presents a method to reduce errors in registration, which is used in transformation coordinate system of the multiple measuring data. In general, the ICP algorithms and feature-based approaches are used for registration. In order to measure wrap-around object, it is necessary to change the scanning direction or set-up of the object. A fixture is made to reduce registration errors caused by inaccurate center point of tooling balls, providing the more accurate registration method. And, the motorized fixture controls rotation and tilting to get precise the measuring data and registration. The proposed motorized fixture and registration method have advantages in accurate registration and precise measurement, compared with the conventional methods.

  • In this thesis, a new measurement system is implemented for depth data extraction based on the camera calibration of the known pattern. The relation between 3D world coordinate and 2D image coordinate is analyzed. A new camera calibration algorithm is established from the analysis and then, the internal variables and external variables of the CCD camera are obtained. Suppose that the measurement plane is horizontal plane, from the 2D plane equation and coordinate transformation equation the approximation values corresponding minimum values using Newton-Rabbson method is obtained and they are stored into the look-up table for real time processing . A slit laser light is projected onto the object, and a 2D image obtained on the x-z plane in the measurement system. A 3D shape image can be obtained as the 2D (x-z)images are continuously acquired, during the object is moving to the y direction. The 3D shape images are displayed on computer monitor by use of OpenGL software. In a measuremental result, we found that the resolution of pixels have $\pm$ 1% of error in depth data. It seems that the error components are due to the vibration of mechanic and optical system. We expect that the measurement system need some of mechanic stability and precision optical system in order to improve the system.

  • A numerical analysis based on the three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equation has been conducted to investigate the flow within a NASA rotor 67 transonic fan. General coordinate transformations are used to represent the complex blade geometry and an H-type grid is used. The governing equations are solved using implicit LU-SGS scheme for the time-marching integration and a standard ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model is used with wall functions for the turbulence modeling. The computations are compared with the experimental data and a detailed study of the flow structures near peak efficiency and near stall is presented. The calculated overall aerodynamic efficiency and three-dimensional shock system agree well with the laser anemometer data.

  • The goal of image calibration is to find a relation between image and world coordinates. Conventional image calibration uses physical camera model that is able to reflect camera's optical properties between image and world coordinates. In this paper, we try to calibrate images distortion using performance criterion-based polynomial model which assumes that the relation between image and world coordinates can be identified by polynomial equation and its order and parameters are able to be estimated with image and object coordinate values and performance criterion. In order to overcome existing limitations of the conventional image calibration model, namely, over-fitting feature, the performance criterion-based polynomial model is proposed. The efficiency of proposed method can be verified with 2D images that were taken by laser scan camera.

  • 3D laser scanners are an effective way to quickly acquire a large amount of data about an object. Recently, it is used in various fields such as surveying, displacement measurement, 3D data generation of objects, construction of indoor spatial information, and BIM(Building Information Model). In order to utilize the point cloud data acquired through the 3D laser scanner, it is necessary to make the data acquired from many stations through a matching process into one data with a unified coordinate system. However, analytical researches on the accuracy of point cloud data according to the registration method are insufficient. In this study, we tried to analyze the accuracy of registration method of point cloud data acquired through 3D laser scanner. The point cloud data of the study area was acquired by 3D laser scanner, the point cloud data was registered by the ICP(Iterative Closest Point) method and the shape registration method through the data processing, and the accuracy was analyzed by comparing with the total station survey results. As a result of the accuracy evaluation, the ICP and the shape registration method showed 0.002m~0.005m and 0.002m~0.009m difference with the total station performance, respectively, and each registration method showed a deviation of less than 0.01m. Each registration method showed less than 0.01m of variation in the experimental results, which satisfies the 1: 1,000 digital accuracy and it is suggested that the registration of point cloud data using ICP and shape matching can be utilized for constructing spatial information. In the future, matching of point cloud data by shape registration method will contribute to productivity improvement by reducing target installation in the process of building spatial information using 3D laser scanner.

  • A terrain is an essential element for constructing a virtual world in which game characters and objects make various interactions with one another. Creating a terrain requires a great deal of time and repetitive editing processes. This paper presents a 3D terrain reconstruction system to create 3D terrain in virtual space based on real terrain data. In this system, it converts the coordinate system of the height maps which are generated from a stereo camera and a laser scanner from global GPS into 3D world using the x and z axis vectors of the global GPS coordinate system. It calculates the movement vectors and the rotation matrices frame by frame. Terrain meshes are dynamically generated and rendered in the virtual areas which are represented in an undirected graph. The rendering meshes are exactly created and updated by correcting terrain data errors. In our experiments, the FPS of the system was regularly checked until the terrain was reconstructed by our system, and the visualization quality of the terrain was reviewed. As a result, our system shows that it has 3 times higher FPS than other terrain management systems with Quadtree for small area, improves 40% than others for large area. The visualization of terrain data maintains the same shape as the contour of real terrain. This system could be used for the terrain system of realtime 3D games to generate terrain on real time, and for the terrain design work of CG Movies.

  • Experimental and computational studies were performed to determine the effects of different blade designs on a flow pattern inside a double-spindle counter rotating mower deck. In the experimental study, two different blade models were tested by measuring air velocities using a forward-scatter LDV system. The velocity measurements were taken at several different azimuth and axial sections inside the deck. The measured velocity distributions clarified the air flow pattern caused by the rotating blades and demonstrated the effects of deck and blade designs. A high-speed video camera and a sound level meter were used for flow visualization and noise level measurement. In the computational works, two-dimensional blade shapes at several arbitrary radial sections have been selected for flow computations around the blade model. For three-dimensional computation applied a non-inertia coordinate system, a flow field around the entire three-dimensional blade shape is used to evaluate flow patterns in order to take radial flow interactions into account. The computational results were compared with the experimental results.
