  • An analysis and design of large-scale linear multivariable systems often requires to be block triangularized form for good sensitivity of the systems when their poles and zeros are varied. But the decomposition algorithms presented up to now need a procedure of permutation, rescaling and a solution of nonlinear algebraic equations, which are usually burden. To avoid these problem, in this paper we develop a newly alternative block triangular decomposition algorithm which used the generalized matrix sign function on the Z-plane. Also, the decomposition algorithm demonstrated using the fifth order linear model of a distillation tower system.

  • This paper presents an optimization method for optimal reactive power dispatch which minimizes real power loss and improves voltage profile of power systems using evolutionary computation such as genetic algorithms(GAs), evolutionary programming(EP). and evolution strategy(ES). Many conventional methods to this problem have been proposed in the past, but most these approaches have the common defect of being caught to a local minimum solution. Recently, global search methods such as GAs, EP, and ES are introduced. The proposed methods were applied to the IEEE 30-bus system. Each simulation result, compared with that obtained by using a conventional gradient-based optimization method, Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP), shows the possibility of applications of evolutionary computation to large scale power systems.

  • Today's construction is a large-scale and long life span program, so called Mega-scale project, that every moment constructor faces much of hardships, It is because of a large amount of stakeholders, data and complicated relationship among workers. In order to overcome these problems, IETM(Interactive Electronic Technical Manual) has been introduced to construction industry recently, It is regarded as a useful tool for handling the data, procedures of the construction, but it is similar to existing IT-based information systems, the PMIS(Project Management Information System) and the KMS(Knowledge Management System), without characterizing. This research is intended to find out IETM's property and to present the Ontology scheme discriminating Construction IETM from existing systems..

  • Players of construction projects proceed with each work process by information gathering, modification and communication. Due to the complex and long-span lifecycle projects increased, it became more important to grasp this mechanism for the successful project performance in construction project. Hence, most project information management systems or knowledge management systems equip information retrieval system. There are two logic to infer the meaning of retrieval target; inductive reasoning and deductive reasoning. The former is based on metadata explaining the target and the later is based on relation between data. To infer the information flow, it is necessary to define the correlation between players and work processes. However, most established information retrieval systems are based on index search system and it is not focused on correlation between data but data itself. Thus, this research aims to research on process of information flow retrieval system for large-scale construction projects.

  • In this paper asymptotic formulate for performance characteristics throughput, delay) of large scale token-passing networks with priorities and limited service are given. In particular, adaptive control procedures for obtaining optimal buffer capacity with respect to each priority and optimal limited service are shown. All results obtained are supported by simulations.

  • The main purpose of the paper is to derive asymptotic formulae for performance characteristics(throughput, delay) of large-scale token-passing network with buffered stations and to optimize the buffer capacity with respect to the probability of data generation. We consider two versions of token-passing network: uniform and nonuniform token-passing time interval. All results obtained are supported by simulations.

  • The establishment and application of risk management system is one of the current issues in world-wide leading companies. Poor risk management might bring large-scale accident in construction industry by its features(large scale, diversity). Standardization system and standard for risk should be managed timely. In this paper, we do comparative analysis of standardization systems and standards concerned on risk, so thus present basic data for safety reinforcement and risk zero in the construction life cycle process.

  • A design method of decentralized state observer for large scale interconnected systems is proposed by the use of interconnection rejection approach and interconnection modelling technique. The proposed design method is developed based on the interconnection partitioning. Therefore partitioning conditions are suggested. And the conditions for observer pole assignment and observer parameter determination procedures are described for possible interconnection patterns. The decentralized state observer gives good estimates without any information on the interconnection variables and estimations. In addition, a numerical example is given to explain the design procedures and to show the estimation performance of the decentralized observer.

  • This paper considers the problems of robust decentralized control for uncertain discrete-time large-scale systems with delays in interconnections and state feedback gain perturbations. Based on the Lyapunov method, the state feedback control design for robust stability is given in terms of solutions to a linear matrix inequality (LMI), and the measure of non-fragility in controller is presented. The solutions of the LMI can be easily obtained using efficient convex optimization techniques. A numerical example is included to illustrate the design procedures.

  • Compared with a traditional power system of electricity providers, distributed power systems consist of power suppliers which are small and demand-oriented. Each small power supplier tends to utilizes renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. It is because that home renewable energy systems do not need a large scale infrastructure which is required for traditional power plants. In this work we study an economic feasibility of such a renewable energy source. We describe how renewable power generation works and what it brings in terms of economic benefits. Also, we analyze limitations by the current policy and their possible solutions.
