  • It is known that laptop computer stand is helpful to maintain the good posture while using laptop computer on the desk. But the quantitative validation of its effect has not been reported. Using the wearable neck posture tracker, the forward flexion angle of the neck can be measured in daily life. In this study, the forward flexion angles of the neck while using the laptop computer with and without laptop computer stand were compared. From the posture data of 10 subjects for 6 hours, the average of the forward flexion angle was 0.9 degree with laptop computer stand and 16.3 degree without laptop computer stand. As the conclusion, laptop computer stand can decrease the forward flexion angle which is known as forward head posture while using the laptop computer on the desk.

  • This study investigates the durability of the radiator and cooler of a laptop through a thermal analysis. In the result of this study, the maximum deformation happened at the part holding up the support stand at the radiator and cooler. The maximum thermal stress of the cooler was 60.939 Mpa, as low as that of the radiator. In addition, the safety factor of the cooler was 1.64 times as high as that of the radiator. The radiator of the laptop was less durable than the cooler. The result of this study could help with designing a laptop model with a durable radiator and cooler.

  • This article focuses on the psychometric stability of the technology acceptance model (TAM) by Davis [8] when applied to laptop usage in the educational settings. Using a survey of 297 users, this research provides evidence that the TAM provides a model for a valid and reliable measure to use among students in assessing their perceptions of laptop usage. Given this evidence, those involved with implementation and training in laptop environment can confidently apply the instrument.

  • Mobile devices have become an important part of daily life. This is especially true of laptop PCs, which are portable enough to be used almost anywhere. Laptop PCs, however, cannot be nomadic if each component is not robust enough to endure rugged laptop operating environment. Generally, external shock makes collision on head-disk interface and damage to read-write performance. To minimize the likelihood of failure, shock analysis must be incorporated into the design of hard disk drive in laptop. This research explores the structure modification of laptop HDD base, for improving shock performance using finite element analysis which considers the flexibility of whole HDD structure. FE model is verified by modal test and finely tuned. Then we obtained the transmitted acceleration of spindle and pivot and the relative displacement between disk and slider head as shock response. Based on shock simulation, the structural dynamics modification is performed and the primary design parameters are extracted.

  • In this study, the durability on heat was considered through the thermal stress analyses on models A, B, and C of laptops. Model A is an integral part, indicating that the heated keyboard showed the highest temperature and the monitor part far from the heated one showed the coldest. In models B and C, only the heated keyboard parts are modeled, so it can be seen that they get hot overall. In the case of model A, the thickness of the laptop keyboard was thicker, but there were the most deformations, while model C had the thinnest thickness with the smallest stress and deformation. Model B had the highest stress but relatively little deformation. It is considered that the result of thermal analysis in this study can be used to make the latest efficient design of durable laptop. The durability of laptop against the heat can be evaluated by applying this study result to the laptop. And it is seen that the result can be the design of laptop with strength and the aesthetic convergence.

  • Authentication is a mechanism to establish proof of identities, the authentication process ensure that. Who a particular user is. Nowadays PC and laptop user authentication systems are always done once a hold until s explicitly revoked by the user, or asking the user to frequently reestablish his identity which encouraging him to disable authentication. Zero-Interaction Authentication (ZIA) provides solution to this problem. In ZIA,. a user wears a small authentication token that communicates with a laptop over a short-range, wireless link. ZIA combine authentication with a file encryption. Here we proposed a Laptop-user Authentication Based Mobile phone (LABM). In our model of authentication, a user uses his Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone, which work as an authentication token that provides the authentication for laptop over a Bluetooth wireless link, m the concept of transient authentication with our combining It with encryption file system. The user authenticate to the mobile phone infrequently. In turn, the mobile phone continuously authenticates to the laptop by means of the short-range, wireless link.

  • The conventional non-isolated boost converter has some drawbacks such as poor dynamic performance and a discontinuous output current, which make it unsuitable for battery charging applications. In spite of its compactness and lightness, it is not preferred as a charger of portable electronic devices. In this paper, a non-isolated boost converter topology for Li-ion batteries suitable for fuel cell powered laptop computers is proposed and analyzed. The proposed converter has an additional inductor at the output to make a continuous output current. This feature makes it suitable for charger applications by eliminating the disadvantages of the conventional non-isolated boost converter mentioned above. A prototype of the proposed converter is built for the Li-ion battery charger of a laptop computer to prove the validity and advantages of the proposed topology.

  • In this study, two hats and a laptop bag were developed and produced as cultural products by using Hanji-fabrics dyed with various natural dyeing materials. First of all, for the cultural product development, I selected Hanji-fabric which made with traditional Korean paper with excellent durability and functionality. Secondly, it was dyed blue with indigo, brown with green persimmon juice, red by safflower, yellow by amur cork and purple by gromwell root. Third, two hats and a laptop bag were designed. Fourth, according to the designs, patterns of two hats and a laptop bag were made. And then two hats and a laptop bag were finished by cutting and sewing Hanji-fabrics dyed in various colors.

  • In this study, we designed, measured, and analyzed a rearranged L-shape magnetic resonance coupling wireless power transfer (MR-WPT) system for practical applications with laptops. The typical four resonator MR-WPT (Tx part: source loop and Tx coil; Rx part: Rx coil and load loop) is difficult to apply to small-sized stationary and mobile applications, such as laptop computers, tablet-PCs, and smartphones, owing to the large volume of the Rx part and the spatial restrictions of the Tx and Rx coils. Therefore, an L-shape structure, which is the orthogonal arrangement of the Tx and Rx parts, is proposed for indoor environment applications, such as at an L-shaped wall or desk. The relatively large Tx part and Rx coil can be installed in the wall and the desk, respectively, while the load loop is embedded in the small stationary or mobile devices. The transfer efficiency (TE) of the proposed system was measured according to the transfer distance (TD) and the misaligned locations of the load loop. In addition, we measured the TE in the active/non-active state and monitor-open/closed state of the laptop computer. The overall highest TE of the L-shape MR-WPT was 61.43% at 45 cm TD, and the TE decreased to 27.9% in the active and monitor-open state of the laptop computer. The conductive ground plane has a much higher impact on the performance when compared to the impact of the active/non-active states. We verified the characteristics and practical benefits of the proposed L-shape MR-WPT compared to the typical MR-WPT for applications to L-shaped corners.

  • This paper deals with an analysis and countermeasure for improving the shock performance of laptop computers. The shock analysis is carried out by using the commercial program of LS-DYNA3D. Also the analysis is verified by the measurements from modal tests and shock tests. The available countermeasures are investigated theoretically and experimentally to find the effective methods of reducing the shock acceleration on hard disk driver during one side fall test. The hard disk drive is the most sensitive part in a laptop computer. This research shows the effects of the spring constant of rubber pad, the reinforcement of mechanical parts and the location of a hard disk driver, on the shock reduction.
