In this study, characteristics of color in his pictures were excluded, and I attempted to find the origins of pure cube, then tried to pull out the cubical from from Korean regional architecture. The research results are summarized as follows. First, more than 54.7% of Paul Cézanne's paintings are post-impressionism, and the fact that he chose landscapes as the subject of his paintings can be explained to show the value of primary psycho-scene. Second, the building depicted in Paul Cézanne's painting is a pure cube as bastide and mas that are local houses in the Aix-en-Provence region in southern France. Third, Korean cubical flat style of house in the village comes from De Stijl that was provided the concept of Cubism and Mondrian's neo-plasticism.

When Toegye located the site of the Dosanseodang in the Dosan, using four criteria such as 1) geographical characteristics(地 理), 2) hills and waters(山水) 3) form and orientation of valley, 4) so-cial characteristics. 2. In the Dosan area, the location of Seodang was determined by the physical characteristics of the valley(orientation and entrance), not by the concept of Fung-sui(風水). 3. The whole spatial structure of Seodang area formed triangle, and the Dosanseodang was located at the angular point of the triangle. 4. The landscape elements of the Dosanseodang falled into the three landscape hierarchy such as a front view, a middle view, and a distance view. • The purpose of this study is to overview foreign trends in the study of the landscape ecology through new framework of landscape ecological studies and to suggest possibility and limitation of introduction of landscape ecology studies in Korea. Because of historical reasons rooted in different disciplines, landscape ecology of the present time is not unified at all. Therefore, landscape ecology should be understood in an integrative manner accommodating different views and various aspects of landscape(NOOS, GEOS, BIOS). Facing the increasing environmental problems and the goal of sustainable landscape, the principle of a holistic approach complementarity and transdisciplinarity outlined in this paper (esp. connection physical-materials and cognitive system) might help to understand the characteristics of landscapes and landscape ecology. Important steps towards this direction are the landscape survey, diagnosis, the identification of landscape functions, the development of landscape evaluation models and landscape planning system. Recently there have been a few landscape ecological researches in Korea, which tells there have been strong needs to solve practical landscape problems caused by the rapid socioeconomic growth for several decades. However, almost of this studies are focused on cognitive and visual aspects of landscapes defined boundaries of disciplines. But for more holistic approach complementarity and transdisciplinarity in landscape ecological studies, many other aspects such as the consideration of geoecological and bioecologocal variables, preperation of ecological basic data(mapping) and the development of landscape planning as a tool for practical application should be integrated into the whole landscape system.

  • This paper aims to make an empirical comparison between the rural landscape planning and the urban landscape planning. The research method is a contents analysis about Jeollannamdo-province Landscape Base Plan and Suncheon-city Urban Landscape Plans, and Gaerangyi Village Rural Landscape Plan out of total 111 cases of Rural Landscape Plans. The findings are as followings: firstly, the only 14 villages out of 45 villages had the province-unit landscape base plan, the city/gun-unit urban landscape plan, and the rural landscape plan in sequence periods. Secondly, it was found that the Gaerangyi Village Rural Landscape Plan was relatively coordinated with the Jeollanam Province's Landscape Base Plan, but the former was not relatively coordinated with the Suncheon City Urban Landscape Plan. Thirdly, three hierarchical discordance may drive from the difference of applicable acts and authorities concerned. However, in Suncheon City, a rural-urban integrating city, both an urban landscape plan excluding rural regions and a rural landscape plan excessively emphasizing a rural village's unique characteristics, while its administrative district is unclear are hard to be seen as a good plan fully containing Suncheon-city's full identity.
