  • In this paper, we present the application of knowledge-based system technique for generating of PLC ladder diagram The developed prototype system receives a time chart as an input and generates a ladder logic as its output This results in the computerization and intellegent processing of PLC programming. The system can be effectively applied to sequence control where the PLC programs need to be frequently changed and generated.

  • In industrial control system used by Programmable Logic Controller(PLC), ladder Diagram(LD) is the must widely utilized and plays an important role in industrial control system. But recently, the study about Sequential Function Chart(SFC) is performed actively. When we program by SFC, generally, we design one routine from start to end. This method is difficult to design, and we often make mistakes. In this paper, we propose the method that we compose each sub-system after we design each sub-system and confirm his feasibility through an actual examples.

  • Special-purpose microcontrollers PLCs have been widely used in the area of industrial automation. For the research of analysis and verification for PLC programs, first of all we have to specify formal sematics of PLC programming languages. This paper defines formally the operational semantics of LD language. After we transform the graphical language LD into its textual representation Symbolic LD, we give semantics of Symbolic LD since LD language is a graphical language. This paper defines the natural sematics of Symbolic LD and formalizes it in Coq proof assistant.

  • PLC(programmable logic controller) system is widely used for the control of factory. PLC system receives ladder diagram which is drawn by the user to implement hardware logic, converts the ladder diagram into sequence program which is executable in the PLC system, and executes the sequence program indefinitely unless user breaks. The sequence program processes the data of on/off signal, and endures 1 scan delay and missing of pulse-type signal shorter than a scan time. So, data dependency doesn't exist. By applying theis characteristics to multiprocessor architecture, we design parellel PLC functionally and evaluate performance upgrade. Parallel PLC consists of central processing module, N general processing unit, and a shared memory by master-slave type. Each module executes allocated sequence program by the control of central processing module. We can expect performance upgrade by parallel processing, and reliability by relocation of sequence program when error occurs in processing module.

  • The diagnosis of faults of machine tool, which is controlled by CNC and PLC, is generally based on ladder diagram of PLC. Because sequential controls for CNC and servo motor are mostly processed in PLC. However, when fault is occurred, a searching for logical relation to fault reasons is required a lot of fault experiences and times, because PLC program has step structure. In this paper, FDS(Fault Diagnosis System) is developed and implemented to machine tool with open architecture controller in order to find the reason of fault lastly and correctly. The diagnosed reasons for fault are tele-serviced on web through developed RSS(Remote Service System). The operationability and usefulness of developed system are evaluated on specially manufactured machine tool with open architecture CNC. The results of this research can be the model of remote monitoring and fault diagnosis system of machine tool with open architecture CNC.

  • This paper proposes a translation method that converts ladder diagrams to binary executable codes for PLC (programmable logic controller)s. A PLC based on general purpose DSP(digital signal processor) validates the method. We performed a benchmark on the system that compares the execution time of the interpretation method and ours. Experimenal result shows how fast this method executes programs that consist of codes generated.

  • Using the programmable logic controller (PLC), a kind of microcomputer, a facility to control EC and pH automatically in nutriculture of tomato was developed. A program for the automatic control of nutriculture was written in ladder diagram language. EC and pH levels of nutrition solution could be maintained at 1.70-1.72 and 6.1-6.5, respectively, during the entire growing period. Better fruits and higher yield were obtained in automatic control plot than in the control plot. Inorganic elements in plant were higher in the former than in the latter.

  • Programmable Logic Controller(PLC) is the most widely utilized and plays an important role in industrial control system. The study about a PLC language is performed actively. Ladder Diagram(ID) is the most widely used in PLC. In is not suitable for describing a complex sequential logic and is very difficult to grasp the sequential flow of control logic and has the disadvantage for a maintenance. On the other hand, Sequential Function Chart(SFC) is very easy to grasp the sequential flow of control logic and has the compatability for a maintenance but has the disadvantage for describing a condition and a interlock logic. In this paper, we propose the method that describe the interlock logic using management step, and confirm his feasibility through a actual examples.
