Energy content, expressed as calories per gram, is an important part of the evaluation and marketing of foods in developed countries. Currently accepted methods of measurement of energy by U.S. food labeling legislation include measurement of gross calories by bomb calorimetry with an adjustment for undigested protein and by calculation using specific factors for the energy values of protein, carbohydrate less the amount of insoluble dietary fiber, and total fat. The ability of NIRS to predict the energy value of diverse, processed and unprocessed cereal food products was investigated. NIR spectra of cereal products were obtained with an NIR Systems monochromator and the wavelength range used for analysis was 1104-2494 nm. Gross energy of the foods was measured by oxygen bomb calorimetry (Parr Manual No. 120) and expressed as calories per gram (CPGI, range 4.05-5.49 cal/g). Energy value was adjusted for undigested protein (CPG2, range 3.99-5.38 cal/g) and undigested protein and insoluble dietary fiber (CPG3, range 2.42-5.35 cal/g). Using a multivariate analysis software package (ISI International, Inc.) partial least squares models were developed for the prediction of energy content. The standard error of cross validation and multiple coefficient of determination for CPGI using modified partial least squares regression (n=127) was 0.060 cal/g and 0.95, respectively, and the standard error of performance, coefficient of determination, bias and slope using an independent validation set (n=59) were 0.057 cal/g, 0.98, -0.027 cal/g and 1.05 respectively. The PLS loading for factor 1 (Pearson correlation coefficient 0.92) had significant absorption peaks correlated to C-H stretch groups in lipid at 1722/1764 nm and 2304/2346 nm and O-H groups in carbohydrate at 1434 and 2076 nm. Thus the model appeared to be predominantly influenced by lipid and carbohydrate. Models for CPG2 and CPG3 showed similar trends with standard errors of performance, using the independent validation set, of 0.058 and 0.088 cal/g, respectively, and coefficients of determination of 0.96. Thus NIRS provides a rapid and efficient method of predicting energy content of diverse cereal foods.
The work presented in this paper is about a postprocessor, which improves the performance of automatic speech segmentation system by correcting the phoneme boundary errors. We propose a postprocessor that reduces the range of errors in the auto labeled results that are ready to be used directly as synthesis unit. Starting from a baseline automatic segmentation system, our proposed postprocessor trains the features of hand labeled results using multi-layer perceptron(MLP) algorithm. Then, the auto labeled result combined with MLP postprocessor determines the new phoneme boundary. The details are as following. First, we select the feature sets of speech, based on the acoustic phonetic knowledge. And then we have adopted the MLP as pattern classifier because of its excellent nonlinear discrimination capability. Moreover, it is easy for MLP to reflect fully the various types of acoustic features appearing at the phoneme boundaries within a short time. At the last procedure, an appropriate feature set analyzed about each phonetic event is applied to our proposed postprocessor to compensate the phoneme boundary error. For phonetically rich sentences data, we have achieved 19.9 % improvement for the frame accuracy, comparing with the performance of plain automatic labeling system. Also, we could reduce the absolute error rate about 28.6%.

In this Paper, the moving image is detected by a collision preventive system. The noise of these images is reduced by a mean filter. In case of detecting a movement with a binary difference image the moving area is detected exactly by the labeling and the projective method. When the image move slowly with the tracking mode of the system, the center of the tracking window move to the previous tracking window. And the tracking windows are divided into a tracking mode and a coasting mode which are determine by the Contrast-Difference Correlation of the date obtained from a difference image. The coasting mode determine whether continue the tracking step or not comparing the coasting-time values to reducing the error by the disturbance. The coasting and tracking of these moving images are verified by the result of the simulation.

There are many sources of systematic variations in cDNA microarray experiments which affect the measured gene expression levels like differences in labeling efficiency between the two fluorescent dyes. Print-tip lowess normalization is used in situations where dye biases can depend on spot overall intensity and/or spatial location within the array. However, print-tip lowess normalization performs poorly in situation where error variability for each gene is heterogeneous over intensity ranges. We proposed the new print-tip normalization methods based on support vector machine regression(SVMR) and support vector machine quantile regression(SVMQR). SVMQR was derived by employing the basic principle of support vector machine (SVM) for the estimation of the linear and nonlinear quantile regressions. We applied our proposed methods to previous cDNA micro array data of apolipoprotein-AI-knockout (apoAI-KO) mice, diet-induced obese mice, and genistein-fed obese mice. From our statistical analysis, we found that the proposed methods perform better than the existing print-tip lowess normalization method.

The purpose of licensing system is to ensure that the medicines are examined for safety, efficacy and quality. Nevertheless, off-label or unlicensed drug usages in pediatric practice is widespread in Korea and worldwide. Psychotropics are one of the most commonly used off-label or unlicensed drugs. The most valid approach to face this dilemma will be to have more evidences from pediatric pharmacological studies. Clinicians, in addition, need to monitor closely their off-label or unlicensed drug prescriptions to minimize the trial and error in practice. Researchers should publish their experiences and provide guidelines. Pharmaceutical companies, regulatory authorities, and consumer organizations should endeavor altogether for the children's right to get safe and efficacious drugs as adults do. Here, the definition as well as the current status of off-label and unlicensed drug prescriptions will be introduced. Critical issues regarding the off label drugs are discussed. In addition, I will describe the present condition as to the off-label and unlicensed drugs in child and adolescent psychiatry and the authorization process of off-label drug prescription in Korea. Lastly, direction we should like to take in this field will be mentioned.
For a large corpus of time-aligned data, HMM based approaches are most widely used for automatic segmentation, providing a consistent and accurate phone labeling scheme. There are two methods for training in HMM. Flat starting method has a property that human interference is minimized but it has low accuracy. Bootstrap method has a high accuracy, but it has a defect that manual segmentation is required In this paper, a new algorithm is proposed to minimize manual work and to improve the performance of automatic segmentation. At first phase, voiced, unvoiced and silence classification is performed for each speech data frame. At second phase, the phoneme sequence is aligned dynamically to the voiced/unvoiced/silence sequence according to the acoustic phonetic rules. Finally, using these segmented speech data as a bootstrap, phoneme model parameters based on HMM are trained. For the performance test, hand labeled ETRI speech DB was used. The experiment results showed that our algorithm achieved 10% improvement of segmentation accuracy within 20 ms tolerable error range. Especially for the unvoiced consonants, it showed 30% improvement.

A pellet program including a nested parallelism has a result of non-deterministic because of executed concurrently without synchronization. In order to detect like this error the visualization technique which is various is used. But the intuition characteristic is decreased because of limits of space and excessive abstraction. In this paper, proposes 3-D visualization engines which provide global structure of the arranging in a parallel program with nested parallelism which is complicated to the user. The visualization engine which is proposed provides global structure to the user as program easily to understand, it provides an effective debugging environment.

We develop an experimental system to inspect a metal mask and, in this paper, introduce its inspection algorithm. This system is composed of an ASC(Area Scan Camera) and a belt type xy-table. The whole area of the metal mask is divided into several inspection blocks. The area of each block is equal to FOV(Field of View). For each block, the camera image is compared to the reference image. The reference image is made by gerber file. The rotation angle of the metal mask is calculated through the linear equation that is substituted two end points of horizontal boundary of a specific hole in a camera image. To calculate the position error caused by the belt type xy-table, HT(Hough-Transform) using distances among the holes in two images is used. The center of the reference image is moved as much as the calculated Position error to be coincided with the camera image. The information of holes in each image, such as centroid, size, width and height, are calculated through labeling. Whether a holes is mado correctly by laser machine or not, is judged by comparing the centroid and the size of hole in each image. Finally, we build the experimental system and apply this algorithm.
Phone segmentation of speech waveform is especially important for concatenative text to speech synthesis which uses segmented corpora for the construction of synthetic units. because the quality of synthesized speech depends critically on the accuracy of the segmentation. In the beginning. the phone segmentation was manually performed. but it brings the huge effort and the large time delay. HMM-based approaches adopted from automatic speech recognition are most widely used for automatic segmentation in speech synthesis, providing a consistent and accurate phone labeling scheme. Even the HMM-based approach has been successful, it may locate a phone boundary at a different position than expected. In this paper. we categorized adjacent phoneme pairs and analyzed the mismatches between hand-labeled transcriptions and HMM-based labels. Then we described the dominant error patterns that must be improved for the speech synthesis. For the experiment. hand labeled standard Korean speech DB from ETRI was used as a reference DB. Time difference larger than 20ms between hand-labeled phoneme boundary and auto-aligned boundary is treated as an automatic segmentation error. Our experimental results from female speaker revealed that plosive-vowel, affricate-vowel and vowel-liquid pairs showed high accuracies, 99%, 99.5% and 99% respectively. But stop-nasal, stop-liquid and nasal-liquid pairs showed very low accuracies, 45%, 50% and 55%. And these from male speaker revealed similar tendency.

Purpose For living donor liver transplantation, liver segmentation is difficult due to the variability of its shape across patients and similarity of the density of neighbor organs such as heart, stomach, kidney, and spleen. In this paper, we propose an automatic segmentation of the liver using multi-planar anatomy and deformable surface model in portal phase of abdominal contrast-enhanced CT images. Method Our method is composed of four main steps. First, the optimal liver volume is extracted by positional information of pelvis and rib and by separating lungs and heart from CT images. Second, anisotropic diffusing filtering and adaptive thresholding are used to segment the initial liver volume. Third, morphological opening and connected component labeling are applied to multiple planes for removing neighbor organs. Finally, deformable surface model and probability summation map are performed to refine a posterior liver surface and missing left robe in previous step. Results All experimental datasets were acquired on ten living donors using a SIEMENS CT system. Each image had a matrix size of $512{\times}512$ pixels with in-plane resolutions ranging from 0.54 to 0.70 mm. The slice spacing was 2.0 mm and the number of images per scan ranged from 136 to 229. For accuracy evaluation, the average symmetric surface distance (ASD) and the volume overlap error (VE) between automatic segmentation and manual segmentation by two radiologists are calculated. The ASD was $0.26{\pm}0.12mm$ for manual1 versus automatic and $0.24{\pm}0.09mm$ for manual2 versus automatic while that of inter-radiologists was $0.23{\pm}0.05mm$. The VE was $0.86{\pm}0.45%$ for manual1 versus automatic and $0.73{\pm}0.33%$ for manaual2 versus automatic while that of inter-radiologist was $0.76{\pm}0.21%$. Conclusion Our method can be used for the liver volumetry for the pre-surgery planning of living donor liver transplantation.
