본 연구는 재미 한인 남성들의 사회 인구학적 특성, 문화적응, 성역활 태도가 아내학대 태도에 어떤 영향을 미치는가를 분석하였다. 로스앤젤레스 카운티에 거주하고, 연령이 20세 이상 64세 이하이며, 결혼한 지 2년 이상으로 현재 부인과 함께 살고 있는 201명의 재미 한인 남성들을 대상으로 구조화된 질문지를 이용하여 자료를 수집하였다. 본 연구 분석에는 완성된 196명의 자료가 사용되었다. 아내학대 태도는 11개의 문장으로 구성된 Inventory of Beliefs About Wife Beating Short Form으로 측정되었다. 다중회귀분석 결과 연령과 성역활 태도는 응답자들의 아내학대 태도와 유의미한 연관성이 있는 반면, 아동기 가정폭력 목격과 문화적응은 아내학대 태도와 유의미한 연관성이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과를 통해 정신건강 프로그램과 앞으로의 연구에 대한 함의가 제시되었다.

본 연구는 시카고 시와 교외지역에 거주하는 한인이주민 중 65세 이상의 연장자들을 대상으로 그들의 우울증상과 문화동화 수준, 건강상태, 사회경제적 상태의 관계를 그들이 인식하는 존경의 매개역할 또는 조절역할을 통해 살펴보고자 하는데 목적이 있다. 연구의 목적을 위해 4개의 포커스 그룹과 2개의 심층 인터뷰를 실시하였다. ATLAS. ti.로 분석된 연구 결과는 문화동화 수준은 우울증상에 영향을 미치며 우울 증상은 또한 희망과 상호간의 대화를 통해 영향을 받는 것을 나타내었다. 이러한 연구 결과들은 서비스 제공자들에게 65세 이상의 한인 연장자들의 자기 결정권에 대해 충분한 의사소통과 그들에 대한 존경심을 고려할 필요가 있고, 그것은 그들이 새로운 환경에 적응할 때 다양하게 표면화되는 우울한 감정들에 대한 적절한 대처를 유도하는 매우 중요한 요소임을 보여주었다.

Variation in the inflorescence of Oriental ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) have been placed in 6 groups; only 2 of these groups, a complete simple hemispherical terminal umbel, and a simple umbel with several branched pedicels below it on the peduncle were found in cultivated American ginseng. Apical peduncle reflexing and associated peduncles shortening were observed in a few plants.

The statistical characteristics of three year old American ginseng (Panax quinquefolium 1.) root yields from Lytton, British Columbia, Canada are presented. Ginseng root yield is related to plant density, with the highest yields generally obtained from the sites with the highest plant densities. However, these higher yields are made up of a larger proportion of smaller roots while the proportion of larger roots remains almost constant throughout the range of plant densities sampled. Further, it is suggested that relatively small samples can provide significant insight into crop performance and growth.

The effects of soil phosphorus level on seed emergence, seedling mortality, plant and root development of American ginseng (Panax quinquefolium L.) were evaluated in a newly planted commercial ginseng garden. Phosphorus levels were increased from 58 ppm to 100, 150 and 200 ppm with triplephosphate (0-45-0). Higher phosphate levels increased, seed emergence and reduced seedling mortality. Root length, diameter, fresh root weight and total leaflet length were not affected by phosphate levels.

Stratified American ginseng(Panax quinquefoilium L.) seeds were planted in a shaded greenhouse at four depths and in four different soil types to observe effects on emergence rate and root size. Seeding depth affected seedling emergence rates and the number of days required to complete emergence. The shape of the roots was affected by the texture of soil, especially percentage of sand.

Dress and appearance are said to be related to power which results in in.f1uencing others. Fashion and appearance style of the first African American First Lady, Michelle Obama during the presidential campaign and the inaugural period were examined. It was analyzed how Mrs. Obama has used her appearance styling to give influence on the American people. Content analysis was applied to understand the meaning of her style. Cultural meaning of her appearance styling during presidential campaign was explained in terms of class ambivalence, racial tension, and gender ambivalence. Strategic negotiation among different classes, gender, and racial groups was shown in her styling and proven to be powerful.

Indisputably school is the main institution that socialises migrant children into the culture of their new country. Through school they learn the new language and customs, which will enable them to become cultural brokers between the new cultural world and their families. During this process migrant children often transit a liminal terrain where their roles and identity become at the same time diverse and ambivalent. Despite the challenges involved these children often become experts in juggling different cultures, environments and expectations. This study explores the experiences of Latin American children and their families as they start primary school in Australia.

Three greenhouse experiments with American ginseng seedlings growing under light levels from 4.8% to 68% showed a quadratic response for root dry weight, giving an optimal root dry weight of 239 mg (range 160-415 mg) at an optimal light level of 35.6% (range 30.6-43.2%).
