Future Trends of AI-Based Smart Systems and Services: Challenges, Opportunities, and Solutions

  • Smart systems and services aim to facilitate growing urban populations and their prospects of virtual-real social behaviors, gig economies, factory automation, knowledge-based workforce, integrated societies, modern living, among many more. To satisfy these objectives, smart systems and services must comprises of a complex set of features such as security, ease of use and user friendliness, manageability, scalability, adaptivity, intelligent behavior, and personalization. Recently, artificial intelligence (AI) is realized as a data-driven technology to provide an efficient knowledge representation, semantic modeling, and can support a cognitive behavior aspect of the system. In this paper, an integration of AI with the smart systems and services is presented to mitigate the existing challenges. Several novel researches work in terms of frameworks, architectures, paradigms, and algorithms are discussed to provide possible solutions against the existing challenges in the AI-based smart systems and services. Such novel research works involve efficient shape image retrieval, speech signal processing, dynamic thermal rating, advanced persistent threat tactics, user authentication, and so on.

119 구급대원의 중증도 분류 지식 정도 및 교육 전·후 비교 (Comparison of knowledge level of triage in 119 EMTs)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to provide appropriate direction for triage education by investigating the knowledge level of triage in 119 EMTs before and after the triage education. Methods : The questionnaire was filled out by newly assigned 33 EMTs in the fire service academy in I metropolitan city from November 1, 2013. The data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 21.0 program. Results : The lowest knowledge level by 119 triage was the potential emergency related question, but that by case-based triage was the semi-emergency related questions. The knowledge score by case-based triage before education was 51.14 points. This was lower than knowledge score by 119 triage, that is, 75.70 points. After education, the knowledge level by 119 triage was significantly improved(p =.000). However, there was no significant difference in the knowledge level by case-based triage(p =.236). Conclusion : It is necessary to provide systematic and periodic education and training for 119 EMTs toward triage to improve triage accuracy and efficient circulation of the emergency medical service system. Especially, it is very important to provide case-based triage education for field application.

UCI 상호참조에 기반한 참조연계시스템의 구현 (Establishment of Reference Linking Systems on UCI Cross-Reference)

  • This paper describes Cross reference services in Knowledge contents based on UCI. Cross references are effective features that can increase the value of the contents. Knowledge contents include academic papers, research reports, archives, historical and cultural heritage, and professional databases. Cross references are consists of reference-to and cited-by links which can be made by reference list in article. Some of cross reference services provided are considered. We designed cross reference services for knowledge contents in Korea and prototype services are provided. The reference linking service in the area of national R&D will enable the linking of heterogeneous information produced at different sources.

A Study on the Measure for Improving the Website of ScienceON

  • This study was conducted for the purpose of deriving the existing ScienceON elements and reorganizing them to increase user convenience and utilization. Towards this end, implications were derived by analyzing the current status of the ScienceON's website, case studies and analysis of major similar institution websites, and user satisfaction surveys. Based on the derived contents, key terms were analyzed and redefined, the menu system was reorganized, and the menu names were redefined, and the menu system was reorganized to match the direction and identity of the redefined ScienceON. The study results based on such are as follows. First, the ScienceON's brand selection criteria and direction were based on service sustainability, service inclusiveness, recognition of portal characteristics, user friendliness and intuitiveness. Considering the meaning of branding, branding strategy, and selection criteria for ScienceON branding, ScienceON, Ontong ScienceON, ScienceONPlatform, science information portal, ScienceON, Mecca of science and technology information, and 5 brand names such as ScienceON were proposed. Second, to improve accessibility, usability, and satisfaction, it would be necessary to redefine current terms. Towards this end, it would be necessary to change the terminology of knowledge infrastructure search and to unify and organize the terminology. Third, in the current menu, the services provided as analysis services and curation services are organized in the beta service menu, and data such as papers, patents, reports, and trends are also serviced only through integrated search, and hence, each data type and service type classification must be improved.

A Comparative Study on the Librarian and Users' Perception of the Specialized Library Operation

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the status of specialized services and the overall satisfaction of the operation of the specialized services for the librarians and users of the specialized libraries, and based on the ISA method, compare the specialized theme data, specialized service place, specialized program, specialized theme area facilities and environment, and derive issues of the specialized library operation and improvement measures. Consequently, first, when developing the program, the specialized library needs to develop programs in possession of unique characteristics specific to the areas of the differentiated themes from the cultural and educational programs run by the existing libraries. Second, it is necessary to focus on the specialized theme area information services for the users, and to this end, it is necessary to improve librarians 'professionalism. Third, it is necessary to secure the budget for the specialized services and secure space. Since the scope of the services which may be provided as per the budget intended for providing specialized services may be limited, it would be necessary to secure and operate the budget systematic to this end. Fourth, the specialized library needs to proceed with activities in connection with local residents for the purposes of facilitating specialized services.

A Study on the Service Provision Direction of the National Library for Children and Young Adults in the 5G Era

  • In order to establish a digital-based use environment for the provision of new information services suitable for the 5G era, it is necessary to discuss the direction of service provision by the National Library of Children and Young Adults in the 5G era. Based on utilization services in other fields, library services in the 5G era, including the development and provision of employee education and training services, ultra-high-definition and 360-degree realistic contents and education on library use, provision of multi-dimensional realistic media streaming broadcasting services, provision of telepresence education programs, activation of virtual communities, implementation of hologram performance halls/exhibit centers, and provision of unmanned book delivery services, environment monitoring, safety monitoring, and customized services, were proposed. In addition, based on 5G service, 5G technology, and library application direction, advancing into a producing and supporting base for ultra-realistic and immersive contents in the 5G era, strengthening online and mobile services in the non-contact era, and establishing a smart library environment were proposed as the service provision direction for the National Library of Children and Young Adults in the 5G era.

IT서비스 기업의 창의성 및 지식경영 요인이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 (An Impact on Management Performance by IT Service Firm's Creativity and Knowledge Management Factor)

  • This paper discussed about creativity and knowledge management variables as for effect factors on the management performance of IT service firms. Specially the mediation effects of knowledge management variables between the creativity and management performance were examined. To prove empirically the related hypothesis, the statistical analysis were based on the response from the 160 Korean IT Service firms. As an analysis results, it was found that the creativity of organizations was not the direct effector on the management performance. But the virtue of knowledge which are accumulated from knowledge management activity and shared in organizations was the direct effector. Also, the knowledge management activity is mediator on the in the relationship between the creativity and management performance. So this paper suggests that knowledge management activity and knowledge's virtue in the related the creativity in organizations are the important mediate factors for enhancement of IT service firm's performance.

과학기술 정책의 과학화 서비스 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Developing Science Service of Science and Technology Policy)

  • The development of science and technology oriented knowledge society accelerates the convergence between scientific theory and industrial technology and increases the complexity problem of social and economic sectors. These cause the difficulty of securing the reliability and objectivity of science and technology policy. These also are barriers of balanced evaluation between rational science and technology policy making, management, and policy coordination. In this regard, Advanced countries in science and technology develops policy support system and promotes the program of evidence-based SciSIP(Science of Science and Innovation policy) together. This paper introduces a new approach developing science service of science and technology policy utilizing business intelligence technology in Korea. Also, it proposes the integration method of policy knowledge base and component-based service supporting S&T policy decision-making process and introduces services case studies.

성건장 이동클리닉 사업에 대한 청소년의 보건교육 및 상담 만족도 (Health Education and Counseling for Adolescents at Mobile Sexual Health Clinics)

  • Objectives: This study was performed in order to evaluate the quality of health services provided to the adolescents at mobile health clinics and to improve the services for them, and to figure out knowledge level of adolescents on sex, birth control methods and artificial abortion, and the effect of the knowledge levels those items on sexual behavior. The data obtained will be utilized for sex health education program in the future. Methodology: A total of 2,021 adolescents who visited mobile sexual health clinics in Seoul, Inchon, Busan, Daejon, Cheonbuk, Kwangju and Daegu were surveyed in November 2007. The items surveyed were level of satisfaction about the services provided by mobile sexual health clinics, personal opinions and experience of artificial abortion, knowledge level about birth control, sexual experience and pregnancy. The above mentioned items were analyzed by general characteristics such as religion and geographical area. Results: The study subjects were generally satisfied with the services of mobile sexual health clinics. But they were not satisfied with the information about birth control methods provided by the clinics. The subjects who had better knowledge about sex were more satisfied with the services provided by the clinics. And the subjects who had knowledge about birth control methods but did not have birth control experience were also more satisfied with the services of clinics. The subjects who reported that artificial abortion should be allowed were also more satisfied with the services of the clinics. Experiences of sex, pregnancy, and artificial abortion were not correlated to satisfaction of the clinic services. Conclusions: The mobile sexual health clinics have to continues to provide sex health education and other sex related health services to adolescents. More practical information about birth control methods should be provided to the adolescents by the clinics based on the study results. Active preventive measures for unwanted pregnancy should be provided to the adolescents by the clinics.

Designing Coherent User Interfaces of N-Screen Services Reflecting Users' Task Knowledge

  • Objective: Companies want to expand their business by providing their services at other devices and new services based upon existing services. Therefore, they look for building brand identity by providing same experience throughout devices and services. Background: Many services are available to use at multiple devices including mobile phones, tablet, personal computers, and televisions, thanks to proliferation of n-screen and cloud technology. Method: It was discussed that consistency, which emphasizes the regularity and has been one of essential aspects of user interface design, seems not effective to be applied to n-screen services, owing to different screen size, input and output peripherals, usage environment and users' attitude. Results: A new definition of same experience among different devices and services, called coherence, was introduced and abstraction levels of user interfaces were proposed as the denominator of defining coherence. Then types of users' task knowledge at each abstraction level were discussed with examples. Conclusion: This paper concluded by discussing design requirements for designing coherent user interfaces among devices and services.
