한국영화의 흥행성과 결정요인에 관한 통합적 연구 (An Integrated Study on Determinants of Performance in Korean Film Industry)

  • This research empirically examined the determinants of competitive advantages and performance of Korean film industry from 1996 to 2003 over a sample of 396 movies. Especially, the effects of knowledge-based resources, social capital, product differentiation strategy, and market entry strategy on a film performance were hypothesized and empirically tested. Findings of this study are as follows; First, confirming the importance of knowledge-based resources in film industry, both the superior business track records of producers and the superior artistic track records of directors and actors had positive effects on film performance. Second, supporting social capital hypotheses, while the strong ties between directors and producers had positive effects, the strong ties between directors and actors had negative effects on film performance. Third, confirming the importance of product differentiation strategy, genre differentiation against competing films had positive effects on film performance. Finally, confirming the importance of market entry timing, the number of competing films released following a film opening within a week had negative effects on film performance. The findings of this research suggest that producers, directors, and actors are not only the critical knowledge-based resources to create competitive advantages indeed, but the pattern of relationships among them also systematically influences the film performance. Moreover, it is suggested that film performance may be improved by the proper genre differentiation and opening day selection.

Issues in S&T Human Resources Development in Korea

  • It is frequently pointed out that the Korean economy, with its scarce natural resources, would never have been able to achieve current levels of economic development without the massive provision of well-educated, hardworking human resources. Throughout the industrialization process ,full-fledged deployment and mobilization of qualified human resources have been the foundation to industrial policy and S&T policy. This paper describes the development of S&T human resources in Korea using various statistics including educational enrollment rates, unemployment rates, the allocation of researchers and R&D expenditures among sectors of performance, educational composition of employment within and across industries, technical human resource shortage rates, relative wage levels of SMEs, and composition of labor force by age-group and gender. While analyzing S&T human resources development, this paper discusses issues such as the mismatched demand and supply of skill and knowledge levels of the highly educated, the unbalanced distribution of S&T human resources between sectors, and the low utilization of the female and aged labor force. This paper suggests that the policy maker applies a hybrid of quantitative and qualitative policies to reduce the mismatches of supply and demand of skill and knowledge levels for each labor market categorized according to supply side.

우리 나라 학생들의 환경 관련 지식 수준 - 과학과 국제 비교 연구 결과를 중심으로 (Korean Students' Environmental Knowledge : From the Perspectives of International Comparative Studies in Science)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the trends of Korean students'environmental science achievement in recent two international comparative studies, TIMSS-R and PISA 2000. Participants of TIMSS-R and PISA 2000 were 8th graders and 15-years-olds, respectively. The science items in TIMSS-R assess students'science concepts in the science curriculum and science items in PISA 2000 assess scientific literacy in the 21s1 daily life. To achieve this purpose, the 14 environmental knowledge items in TIMSS-R and 16 environmental knowledge items in PISA 2000 were analyzed. As a result of the comparison between Korean- and international percent correct, Korean students showed especially higher achievement in 'resources'or'ecosystem'items. On the contrary, Korean students showed relatively lower achievement in'biotechnology'or'environmental health'items. In general, Korean female students showed lower achievement than their male counterparts. The relationship among environmental knowledge, attitudes, and behavior should be examined more systematically.

비대면 서비스 조직에서 디지털 및 인적 지식자원이 상담사의 고객대응역량에 미치는 영향 (Impacts of Digital and Human Knowledge Resources on Customer Response Capability of Customer Service Representatives)

  • 고객이 기업과 상호작용하는 대표적인 비대면 서비스 접점인 콜센터에서 서비스를 제공하는 상담사는 그 기업의 서비스 경쟁력을 결정한다. 즉 기업의 우수한 서비스는 상담사의 서비스 역량에 의해 영향을 받는다. 변화하는 환경에서 기업의 대응 능력을 강조하는 민첩성의 개념을 도입하여, 본 연구는 먼저 상담사의 고객대응역량을 고객대응전문성과 고객대응민첩성의 하위차원으로 개념화하고 고객서비스성과에 미치는 효과를 분석한다. 이와 더불어 기업의 디지털 및 인적 지식자원이 상담사의 고객대응역량에 미치는 효과를 규명한다. 연구가설을 검증하기 위해 보험사 콜센터 2곳의 상담사로부터 수집한 371부의 응답을 가지고 PLS(partial least squares) 분석을 수행했다. 연구결과는 기업의 디지털 및 인적 지식자원이 상담사의 고객대응전문성과 고객대응민첩성을 향상시키고 이를 통해 고객서비스성과를 증가시킬 수 있음을 보여준다. 이 결과는 우수한 고객서비스를 창출하기 위해 먼저 상담사의 서비스 역량을 강화하는 것이 필요함을 제시한다.

16세기 조선 의서 "이석간경험방"에 나타난 전통지식 분석 : 죽과 밥을 이용한 식치 처방을 중심으로 (Analysis on the Traditional Knowledge Appearing in "Yi, SeikKan Experience Prescriptions" Which is a Book on Medicine in Joseon Dynasty in the 16th Century : with a Focus on Medical Treating with Eating Foods Using Porridge and Rice)

  • Objectives : Medical treating with eating foods is one of important therapies in East Asian traditional medical knowledge and is referred as a therapy to treat diseases through foods. Since the food cannot be separated from ordinary people living, the medical treating with eating foods is a therapy with strong locality and contains many autogenous parts. Methods : Recently, the world is showing much interest for genetic resources, and the concept of intellectual property is rapidly expanding as the field of 'new knowledge property right' as well. Thus, the knowledge of medical treating with eating foods recently draws much attention in the economic aspect beyond the scholarly interest for traditional medicine. Here, I would like to summarize and report the contents related to medical treating with eating foods on "Yi, SeikKan experience prescriptions" which was discovered before. Results & Conclusions : First, medical treating with eating porridge on "Yi, SeikKan experience prescriptions" is classified into one with nonglutinous rice as the main ingredient and the other with other grains as the main ingredient. It is differently utilized depending on the nature of the grain. Second, medical treating with eating rice on "Yi, SeikKan experience prescriptions" was born from our nation's unique way of living and is classified into one way to eat rice mixed with ground medicinal herbs, another one to cook and eat rice with mixed grains and the other way to use as the external application. Medical treating with eating rice is assumed to replace the meal. Third, "food section" was given separately and discussed in this book. There were some parts different from existing medical knowledge due to the accumulation of experience using medicinal herbs. Fourth, we should pay attention to experience a book on medicine where vibrant medical information has been recorded in order to discover and process our traditional knowledge resources as a useful form.

The Utilization of e-resources at Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTech), Yola, Adamawa State, Nigeria

  • This article examines the utilization of e-resources Modibbo Adama University of Technology, (MAUTech) Yola under the auspices of the central library, the Ibrahim Babangida Library. Academics and students are primary users of information resources of any library, hence, their responses towards the utilization of e-resources in the institution have been critically considered in this study. A Mixed method research Design was adopted for the study. A case study approach was employed. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Diffusion of Innovation (DoI) theories were used to develop the conceptual framework of this paper. Questionnaires were used as data gathering tools. Academics and students acted as participants. Major findings are lack of sufficient Internet access for academics and students and lack of training and awareness campaigns. Conclusion has shown that e-resources did not impact research and teaching of academics in MAUTech, Yola.

Availability and Utilizations of Library Information Resources in Secondary Schools by Special Patrons

  • This study adopted the descriptive survey research method. The population of this study comprised of the hearing impaired students in selected government secondary schools in Rivers state. The population of hearing impaired students in Rivers State is 257. A simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample size of 159. A self-developed instrument titled "Availability and Utilization of Library Information Resources Questionnaire (AULIRQ)" was utilized for data collection. 153 responses were collated, indicating a 96.2% response rate. The data collected was arranged and analyzed using frequency count, percentages, and mean and standard deviation. Finding reveals that information resources in the libraries understudied were inadequate and under-utilized. Also, it was established that among other barriers, under-funding is a major barrier to making information resources available for the physically challenged. It was recommended that schools offering special education for the hearing impaired should pace up in their developmental gap by providing such resources and ensure adequate funding by all stakeholders.

해외 지식정보자원의 수집 예산 규모에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Budget for Foreign Knowledge Information Resources in Korean Academic and Research Libraries)

  • 우리나라가 학술연구도서관을 국제경쟁력을 갖춘 세계 수준의 도서관으로 육성하고자 한다면, 선진제국이나 경쟁국들에 비해 열악한 국가 지식정보자원의 총량을 제고하고, 그 활용을 극대화할 수 있는 노력을 강구해야 할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 그러한 노력 가운데 국가차원의 해외 지식정보자원의 수집 및 유통 체계의 확립이 선결사항이라고 여기면서, 이를 위해 기초 자료로 활용할 수 있도록 국내 학술연구도서관이 해외 지시정보자원의 수집을 위해 지출하는 연간 예산 규모를 산정하고자 시도하였다. 우선, 국외도서 및 해외학술지 등 인쇄물 중심의 해외 지식정보자원 총 수집 예산, 해외 전자저널의 총 구독 예산, 해외 웹 DB의 총 구독 예산은 대학도서관과 전문도서관으로 구분하여 추산하였고, 그리고, 해외 문헌복사서비스의 총 이용 예산은 도서관의 관종을 구분하지 않고 추산하였다.

지식사회학의 연구방법으로서 인용분석 (The Citation Analysis as a Research Method for Sociology of Knowledge)

  • 인용분석은 원문헌에서 선행문헌들을 인용하는 현상에 근거하는 정보분석 방법이다. 인용분석과 그 응용에 대해서는 여러가지 잘 알려진 연구가 많이 있다. 이 논문은 이러한 광범위한 응용영역에 대한 검토보다, 인용분석의 사회학적 측면을 설명하고자 한다. 특히, 이 논문은 지식사회학을 연구하는 계량적 방법으로서 인용분석의 유용성을 검토하게 된다. 이를 위해, 인용행태, 인용계수, 영향요인, 인용관계 둥을 파악하는 기본방법들을 기술하였다. 그런 다음 지식사회학의 네가지 응용영역을 구분하여 제시하고 있다: (1) 지식자원의 유통, (2) 지식자원의 평가, (3) 지식공동체의 평가, (4) 지식정책적 활용. 마지막으로 이 논문은 인용분석의 한계와 결점을 인용과 인용분석 그 자체로 나누어 설명하고 있다.

Knowledge Assessment of Teachers of Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder from Applied Behaviour Analysis Perspective

  • This study aims to assess the knowledge of teachers working with students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) regarding applied behaviour analysis (ABA). The study was concerned with teachers' knowledge of ABA, its application in the classroom, barriers to its use and desired training opportunities and/or resources to enhance teacher application of ABA strategies in the classroom. Data were collected via an online survey completed by 190 teachers with students diagnosed with ASD in British schools. The results revealed overall knowledge of ABA strategies for classrooms, with only some teachers uninformed about the broad use and some key elements, and general familiarity with skills crucial for applying ABA. Actual knowledge of ABA was found to be high. In terms of application of ABA, the majority of the teachers employed a wide range of known strategies. A number of barrier to the application of ABA were noted including a lack of knowledge and training, a lack of administrative support and a lack of time and physical resources. Theoretical knowledge is crucial for practical applications; however, practical training was found to be important to ensure intervention efficacy.
