The author conducted a dental survey of college girl students and compared with that of college students 20 years and 10 years ago which based on the same criteria. The items of this survey included the prevalence of dental caries, DMFT and the kinds of restored materials. College girl students 2,294 were examined in May 1988, with the recommended criteria and method of W.H.O.. Among them, the data of 2,243 were analyzed and compared with the data of 1968 and 1978. The following results were obtained : 1. The average number of present teeth was $28.86{\pm}1.65$, which does not show much difference when compared to $29.00{\pm}1.94$ of 1968 and $28.97{\pm}1.64$ of 1978. 2. The prevalence of dental caries was 86.22%, which increased in comparison to 83.25% of 1968 and 84.92% of 1978. 3. DMF index was 19.98, which considerably increased in comparison to 14.56 of 1968 and 15.51 of 1978. 4. The number of DMFT was $5.75{\pm}5.04$ per student. Compared to $4.23{\pm}3.88$ of 1968 and $4.49{\pm}3.69$ of 1978, there is a considerable increase. I) The average number of decayed(D) teeth was $1.14{\pm}1.63$, which decreased from $1.16{\pm}1.57$ of 1968 and $2.09{\pm}2.16$ of 1978. II) The average number of missing(M) teeth was $0.23{\pm}0.73$, which also decreased from $0.69{\pm}1.11$ of 1968 and $0.32{\pm}0.79$ of 1978. III) The average number of filled(F) teeth was $4.39{\pm}4.91$, which increased from $2.38{\pm}3.33$ of 1968 and $2.09{\pm}3.17$ of 1978. 5. According to the analysis of filling material, filling baby including amalgam, gold inlay, resin, silicate cement and paladium inlay was 90.5%, which increased in comparison to 72.8% of 1968 and 83.6% of 1978. Among them, amalgam occupied 62.93%, which showed the most increase. On the other hand, crown and bridge was 6.5%, 3.0%, respectively, which showed continuous decrease from 12.1%, 15.1% of 1968 and 8.7%, 7.7% of 1978. Therefore, the prosthodontic treatment reduced due to the decrease of tooth extraction. In contrast, there is continuous increase of conservative treatment which maintaining natural tooth.

Statement of problems: Long-term success of esthetic restorations, depends on various factors, especially on color stability of the restorations. The color stability is affected by resin cements beneath the porcelain laminate veneers. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to comprehend the color stability of resin cements by comparing with 4 different kinds of resin cements (Choice, Variolink II, Nexus 2, Rely-X). Material and methods: Porcelain laminate disk samples were luted with resin cements. After thermocycling of each 1000, 2000 and 3000 cycle, specimens were measured by spectrophotometers and the color differences were. Results: 1. After thermocycling of 1000, 2000 and 3000cycle, color difference, $({\Delta}E^*)$ of all specimens were incresed, but were not statiscally significant differences. 2. In the Choice of A1 shade and the Nexus 2 of A3 shade, color difference$({\Delta}E^*)$ after thermocycling of 3000cycle was $incre^*ased$ significantly than after thermocycling of 1000cycle. However, other groups did not show any statistically significant differences (P<0.05). 3. After thermocycling of 3000cycle, color difference$({\Delta}E^*)$ between A1 shade and A3 shade of Nexus 2 showed statistically significant difference. However no statistically significant differences were observed in other groups (P<0.05). 4. The mean of color difference$({\Delta}E^*)$ is 1.0-2.06 after 3000 thermocycling and the data were ranked in the ascending order of Variolink II, Nexus 2, Choice and Rely-X in A1 shade group and Choice, Rely-X, Variolink II and Nexus 2 in A3 shade group. Conclusion: Above results revealed that, after 3000 thermocycing, the color difference $({\Delta}E^*)$ of experimental resin cements was within clinically acceptable ranges. Color stability of 4 different resin cements was comparatively excellent.
Statement of problem : Use of fiber composite technology as well as development of nonmetal implant prosthesis solved many problems due to metal alloy substructure such as corrosion. toxicity, difficult casting, expensiveness and esthetic limit. After clinical and laboratory test, we could find out that fiber-reinforced composite prostheses have good mechanical properties and FRC can make metal-free implant prostheses successful. Purpose : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the flexural strength of implant fixed prosthesis using fiber reinforced composite. Material and methods : 2-implant fixture were placed in second premolar and second molar area in edentulous mandibular model, and their abutments were placed, and bridge prostheses using gold, PFG, Tescera, and Targis Vectris were fabricated. Tescera was made in 5 different designs with different supplements. Group I was composed by 3 bars with diameter 1.0mm and 5 meshes, 2 bars and 5 meshes for Group II, 1 bar and 5 meshes for Group III, and only 5 meshes were used for Group IV. And Group V is composed by only 3 bars. Resin (Tescera) facing was made to buccal part of pontic of gold bridge. All of gold and PFG bridges were made on one model, 5 Targis Vectris bridges were also made on one model, and 25 Tescera bridges were. made on 3 models. Each bridge was attached to the test model by temporary cement and shallow depression was formed near central fossa of the bridge pontic to let 5 mm metal ball not move. Flexual strength was marked in graph by INSTRON. Results : The results of the study are as follows. The initial crack strength was the highest on PFG. and in order of gold bridge Tescera I, Tescera II, Targis vectris, Tescera IV, Tescera III, and Tescera V. The maximum strength was the highest on gold bridge, and in order of PFG, Tescera I, Tescera IV Tescera II, Targis vectris, Tescera III, and Tescera V. Conculsions : The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this study. 1. Flextural strength of implant prosthesis using fiber reinforced composite was higher than average posterior occlusal force. 2. In initial crack strength, Tescera I was stronger than Tescera V, and weaker than PFG. 3. Kinds and number of auxillary components had an effect on maximum strength, and maximum strength was increased as number of auxillary components increased. 4 Maximum strength of Tescera I was higher than Targis vectris, and lower than PFG.

For recycling of waste foundry sands, researchers recently try to recycle them rather than depend on reclamation, and are studying on how to combine waste foundry sands with cement and use them for various kinds of construction material as the effective recycling method of waste foundry sand. In this research, The ways to find the proper replacement rate of waste foundry sands and to make use of them were suggested through the experiments on the range to apply waste foundry sands with two levels of 1:3 mixture rate of W/C 43% and 50%. The research result showed that in terms of liquidity as the characteristic of unhardened mortar, as the replacement rate of waste foundry sands increased, its flow tended to decrease. The amount of air also displayed a similar tendency to that of liquidity in that the higher the replacement rate of waste foundry sands became, the lower it became. With regard to the solidity trait of hardened mortar, it increased when the waste foundry sands were replaced more, and the replacement of waste foundry sands caused increased initial solidity. As for the amount of water permeated and that of water absorbed as the water tight proofing properties, the amount of permeated water was proved to decrease because of the gap recharge effect by the fine powder of waste foundry sands, and the replacement of waste foundry sands in the structures requiring watertightness is concluded to be very effective.

Porous concrete consists of cement, water and coarse aggregate and has been used for the purpose of decreasing the earth environmental load such as air and water permeability, sound absorption, etc. However, the physical and mechanical properties of porous concrete changes due to compaction load during construction. For such a reason, the purpose of this study is to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of porous concrete according to the kinds of binder, the ratio of water to binder and target void ratio. In particular, this study has been carried out to investigate the influence of compaction load on the void ratio, strength and coefficient of permeability. Aggregate used in this study are by-products generated during production of crushed gravel with a maximum size of 13mm. The results of this study showed that the target void ratio, the coefficient of permeability and compressive strength of porous concrete had a close relationship with the void ratio, and it will be possible that the void ratio is suggested by the mix design of porous concrete. The compressive strength of porous concrete was the highest at the content of the expansive admixture of 5% and compared to non-mixture, 10% mixture of silica fume improved compressive strength about 32%. And in the result of the study to change the compaction load, the compressive strength increased from the load of 15kN, the void ratio decreased from the load of 0.8kN, the coefficient of permeability decreased from the load 35kN, respectively.
The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the shade changes(${\Delta}E^*$) about $In-Ceram^{(R)}$, $IPS-Empress^{(R)}$, $OPC^{(R)}$ by using of the spectrophotometer arising from inital status and before and after cementation of the resin cement mounted on the metal core. We used a couple of statistics such as 'One- Way ANOVA' and 'Multiple Range Test.' We could be able to verify significantly what is being discussed here up to 95%. The results drawn from our research are as follows : 1. At the time of our experiments regarding the initial shapes of all-ceramic and mounting status of all-ceramic on the metal crown(${\Delta}E^*1$), and a comparison of mounting of all ceramic on the metal crown with all-ceramic cemented on the metal core(${\Delta}E^*2$), at the time of shade change of initial shapes and after we cemented on the metal core. (1) no significant difference among all-ceramics was found. (2) no particular difference was found regarding the $In-Ceram^{(R)}$. (3) a significant difference between the ${\Delta}E^*1$ and ${\Delta}E^*2$ regarding the $IPS-Empress^{(R)}$ was found(P<0.05). (4) a significant difference between the ${\Delta}E^*1$ and ${\Delta}E^*2$ regarding the $OPC^{(R)}$ was found(P<0.05). 2. When we compared the shade changes(${\Delta}E^*$) resulted from before and after the cementation on each of the parts involved of some all-ceramic, we could be able to find shade change increase form incisal third, middle third. and cervical third in that order in $In-Ceram^{(R)}$(spinell), IPS $Empress^{(R)}$, and $OPC^{(R)}$ all. In addition. we could be able to find a significant difference between cervical third and incisal third, middle third. (P<0.05) From what we have just seen, we might conclude that there is a significant shade change difference before and after the cementation with respect to $IPS-Empress^{(R)}$ and $OPC^{(R)}$. In addition, we could also be able to find more shade change difference at the cervical third rather than incisal third and middle third depending on the parts involved.
Purpose: This study was designed to compare the amount of polymerization shrinkage of dual-cure resin cements according to different polymerization modes and to determine the effect of light activation on the degree of polymerization. Materials and methods: Four kinds of dual-cure resin cements were investigated: Smartcem 2, Panavia F 2.0, Clearfil SA Luting and Zirconite. Each material was tested in three different polymerization modes: self-polymerization only, immediate light polymerization and 5 minutes-delayed light polymerization. The time-dependent polymerization shrinkage-strain was evaluated for 30 minutes by Bonded-disk method at $37^{\circ}C$. Five recordings of each material with three different modes were taken. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and multiple comparison Scheffe′test (${\alpha}$=.05). Results: All materials, except Panavia F 2.0, exhibited the highest polymerization shrinkage-strain through delayed light-activated polymerization. No significant difference between light activation modes was found with Panavia F 2.0. All materials exhibited more than 90% of polymerization rate in the immediate or delayed light activated group within 10 minutes. Conclusion: As a clinical implication of this study, the application of delayed light activation mode to dual-cure resin cements is advantageous in terms of degree of polymerization.

Incheon Bridge, 18.4 km long sea-crossing bridge, will be opened to the traffic in October 2009 and this will be the new landmark of the gearing up north-east Asia as well as the largest & longest bridge of Korea. Incheon Bridge is the integrated set of several special featured bridges including a magnificent cable-stayed girder bridge which has a main span of 800 m width to cross the navigation channel in and out of the Port of Incheon. Incheon Bridge is making an epoch of long-span bridge designs thanks to the fully application of the AASHTO LRFD (load & resistance factor design) to both the superstructures and the substructures. A state-of-the-art of the geotechnologies which were applied to the Incheon Bridge construction project is introduced. The most Large-diameter drilled shafts were penetrated into the bedrock to support the colossal superstructures. The bearing capacity and deformational characteristics of the foundations were verified through the world's largest static pile load test. 8 full-scale pilot piles were tested in both offshore site and onshore area prior to the commencement of constructions. Compressible load beyond 30,000 tonf pressed a single 3 m diameter foundation pile by means of bi-directional loading method including the Osterberg cell techniques. Detailed site investigation to characterize the subsurface properties had been carried out. Geotextile tubes, tied sheet pile walls, and trestles were utilized to overcome the very large tidal difference between ebb and flow at the foreshore site. 44 circular-cell type dolphins surround the piers near the navigation channel to protect the bridge against the collision with aberrant vessels. Each dolphin structure consists of the flat sheet piled wall and infilled aggregates to absorb the collision impact. Geo-centrifugal tests were performed to evaluate the behavior of the dolphin in the seabed and to verify the numerical model for the design. Rip-rap embankments on the seabed are expected to prevent the scouring of the foundation. Prefabricated vertical drains, sand compaction piles, deep cement mixings, horizontal natural-fiber drains, and other subsidiary methods were used to improve the soft ground for the site of abutments, toll plazas, and access roads. Light-weight backfill using EPS blocks helps to reduce the earth pressure behind the abutment on the soft ground. Some kinds of reinforced earth like as MSE using geosynthetics were utilized for the ring wall of the abutment. Soil steel bridges made of corrugated steel plates and engineered backfills were constructed for the open-cut tunnel and the culvert. Diverse experiences of advanced designs and constructions from the Incheon Bridge project have been propagated by relevant engineers and it is strongly expected that significant achievements in geotechnical engineering through this project will contribute to the national development of the longspan bridge technologies remarkably.
Steel slag is being recycled into industrial by-products for civil generated inevitably in the seasonal course, road and cement raw materials. However, the field of recycling most of the bottom portion is concentrated in the areas that are required to take advantage of the situation in various fields taking advantage of the steel slag. But various studies to take advantage of the steel slag as aggregate for concrete made for limiting slag was a situation that most of the studies are incomplete research on the suitability of as aggregate for concrete practical relates to an expandable suppressed. In this study, the separation of the slag aggregate according to the production methods to assess the feasibility aggregate for concrete aggregates, including through Steel making slag, a total of seven kinds of steel slag aggregate. Studies show that ordinary concrete, steel slag aggregate for aggregate and on the equally to take advantage of grading, chloride content standards such as to what is lacking, although appropriate aggregate of concrete include the deployment of only in special sectors through the combination was assessed to have a very high.
The purpose of this study was to observe the responses of the remaining pulp tissue after pulpotomy upon the several kinds of $Ca(OH)_2$ products and the responses of periapical tissue upon some root canal filling materials after extirpation. For pulpotomy, the class V cavities were prepared on the premolars, molars and upper canines, and the pulp was amputated. Each drug was placed over the amputated tissue and cavity was sealed with zinc oxide eugenol cement. The drugs which were used for the study were Dycal (Caulk Co. U.S.A.), Cavitec (Kerr Co. U.S.A.), Calvital, Nobudyne and Neodyne (Neo Dental Chemical Products). For extirpation, the endodontic cavities were prepared on the lingual surfaces of anterior teeth, and the pulp tissues were extirpated as routine method. After enlarging, irrigation, and measuring of root length by taking X-ray, each root canal filling material was filled in the canal with gutta percha cone, and endodontic cavity was sealed with zinc oxide eugenol cement. Zinc oxide eugenol, $Ca(OH)_2$ (Eli Lilly Co. U.S.A.) and Vitapex (Neo Dental Chemical Products) were used as root canal filling materials. Animals were sacrificed after 1, 3 and 6 weeks following the operation. The teeth were decalcified in formic acid, sectioned and stained with hematoxylin eosin. Microscopic examination revealed as follows. 1. Dycal: The dentin bridge formation was observed at the 3rd week after pulpotomy. Inflammatory conditions which were infiltration of inflammatory cells and dilatation of blood vessels were kept in remaining pulp tissue at the 6th week. 2. Calvital: The dentin bridge was observed at the 1st week after pulpotomy. As the time clasped, the pulp tended to be the fibrous degeneration. 3. Cavitec, Nobudyne and Neodyne: In the case of Cavitec and Nobudyne, the incompleted and irregular dentin bridge was observed at the 6th week, and in Neodyne, was observed at the 3rd week. The severe inflammatory changes were seen in the remaining pulp tissue. As the time clasped, the fibrous degeneration tended to spread in the remaining pulp tissue. 4. $Ca(OH)_2$: Osteocementum was formed at the 3rd week, the matrix of cementum and dentin were resorted, and infiltration of lymphocytes was seen in periapical tissue when $Ca(OH)_2$ was used as canal-filling materials. S. ZOE and Vitapex The cementum like substance was seen in periapical portion at the 1st week, when ZOE and Vitapex were used as root canal filling materials. As the time elapsed, the matrix of cementum and dentin tended to be resorted. At the 6th week, the inflammatory condition of periapical tissue was continued in the case of ZOE, but was reduced in the case of Vitapex.
