  • One species of the Duplachionaspis, D. divergens (Green, 1899) is newly recorded in the Korean fauna of armored scales (Diaspididae). The characters of this genus and species are here redescribed from Korean specimens. A key to species of Duplachionaspis from the East Palaearctic Region, photographs and information on the distribution and hosts of this species, are also provided.

  • Previously, 13 species in six genera of the subfamily Banchinae and 29 speices in 16 genera of the subfamily Pimplinae were known from Korea. In this paper, two species, Rynchobanchus minomensis (Uchida, 1933) and Theronia laevigata nigra Uchida, 1928 are new to Korea. Also, the genus Rynchobanchus is recorded for the first time in Korea. Only one species of Theronia, Theronia atalantae (Poda, 1761), was recorded from Korea by Uchida (1928). New Korean names proposed for these two species are "Eol-gul-ga-si-maep-si-beol" and "Geom-jeong-nap-jak-maep-si-beol" for the R. minomensis and T. laevigata nigra, respectively. A key to the species of Theronia, diagnosis and photographs of diagnostic characters of them are provided.

  • The hornless Australian burrowing mayfly genus Ulmerophlebia Demoulin (Leptophlebiidae) is revised based on comprehensive examinations of adult and larval material collected throughout Australia. Two new species [Ulmerophlebia deani n. sp. and U. minuta n. sp.] and three named species [U. annulata (Harker), U. mjobergi (Ulmer) and U. pipinna Suter] are included. The larva of U. deani can be distinguished by the moderately developed apicomedial expansion of gills and W-shaped markings on the abdominal terga. The male adult of U. minuta can be easily distinguished by the greatly reduced penes. Descriptions, diagnoses, line-drawings of key characters, material and distributional data, taxonomic remarks and adult and larval keys are provided.

  • We recognized Linnaemya microchaetopsis Shima, L. picta (Meigen) and L. zachvatkini Zimin in Korean Linnaemya subgenus Ophina Robineau-Desvoidy and the latter two are reported for the first time in Korea. The subgenus Ophina shares the following morphological characteristics (sensu Shima): 1) the male tergite 6 is fused mid-dorsally with sternite 7+8; 2) the female tergite 6 and tergite 7 are almost always divided longitudinally into two hemitergites; 3) the female tergite 6 is always longer than the tergite 7; 4) circus parallel-sided in caudal view; 5) epiphallus present; and 6) pteropleural seta long, reaching posterior margin of lower calypter. We provide a key to the included Korean species, as well as descriptions and illustrations with their diagnostic characters indicated.

  • Three species of Coccocarpia have been reported from Korean Peninsular. However, there was no revisional study on this genus before. After careful examination of the specimens deposited in the Korean Lichen Research Institute (KoLRI) and collected from main mountain areas of Korea, two species of Coccocarpia, C. palmicola and C. erythroxyli, have been revealed to occur and confirmed in South Korea. The presence and absence of isidia and apothecia are the most important characters for the South Korean species. We provide the detailed description and illustration of the available two species. A key to the species is also provided.

  • Thirtythree strains of the Aspergillus spp. isolated from foodstuffs were observed through some physiological characteristics for detection of identification key of Aspergillus spp. 1) Each strain of Aspergillus spp. had their specific characteristics and could be used for identification of species. 2) Excellent amylase-producing fungi were observed among the isolated strains of Aspergillus spp. 3) Amylase activities increased for one week incubation period. 4) In the tests of common characters of aflatoxin-producing fungi among the 33 strains of Aspergillus spp., for example, conidial size, presence of sclerotia, kojic acid, and pigment production, coloration of phenol, reduction of methylene blue, etc.

  • The Law of effective building and operation for the information systems took effect at Dec. 2005. Every government and public agency have to build own enterprise architecture(EA), sometimes it's called the Information Technology Architecture(ITA), by this law. The Ministry of National Defense(MND) built the enterprise architecture(EA) during 2006. 12$\sim$2007. 11 by this law too. We knew the specific characters of the public sector thru the EA project. The public sector is less active than commercial sector and most members of the public sector are just looking on the project as a spectator. So the most of key for the success of EA is how to catch the Sponsorship and Participation of members. In this paper we propose the effective building methodology for the Enterprise Architecture of public agency applying the MND-EA. The other governments and public agencies can build own the EA easily by the proposed methodology.

  • Two aorid amphipods, Aoroides ellipticus Ariyama, 2004 and A. semicurvatus Ariyama, 2004 from shallow waters of South Korea are reported here. Aoroides ellipticus has the characteristic setation of gnathopod 1 and the elliptical shape of basis on pereopod 7, while A. semicurvatus can be easily distinguished from congeners by combined characters of the curved propodus on gnathopod 2 and the absence of marginal spines on outer ramus of uropod 3 in mature males. This paper redescribed these two aorids and provided a key to Korean Aoroides species.
