  • Tooth movement by segment is one of the means which are frequently used in daily orthodontic practice. When we retract or intrude a tooth or teeth, we should recognize the center of resistance of the certain tooth or teeth. There have been many studies about the center of resistance of a single tooth, not so much was about the tooth-segment. At the present study the center of resistance of the maxillary anterior segment is experimentally investigated by using laser reflection technique and metal splints on the human dry skull. The variables of intrusive force magnitude are divided into two groups, 50g and 100g groups. The results were as follows ; 1. The center of resistance of the maxillary anterior segment composed of the central and lateral incisors was at the mesial portion of canine crown at the coronal level. 2. The center of resistance of the maxillary anterior segment composed of the central and lateral incisors and canines is between the canine and the 1st premolar crowns at the coronal level.

복층터널 내부슬래브의 연결형식에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical study on the connection type of inner-slab in double deck tunnel)

  • 본 연구에서는 쉴드 TBM에 의한 대심도 복층터널의 계획 시 세그먼트 라이닝의 거동을 주요 구조물인 내부 슬래브의 연결구조 형식에 따라 검토하였다. 복층터널의 내부슬래브와 세그먼트 라이닝 설계 요구조건을 정립하기 위하여 용도에 따라 내부 구조물의 형식을 정의하고, 터널 라이닝과 내부 슬래브의 연결구조를 비교하였다. 그리고 MIDAS Civil 2012 프로그램으로 빔-스프링 모델을 이용하여 수치해석을 수행하였다. 본 연구결과 중간슬래브 및 하부슬래브, 내부슬래브와 세그먼트 라이닝의 연결 형식 그리고 측압계수들은 복층터널 계획시 주요 설계사항임을 확인하였다.

가상 메시 오버레이 네트워크상에서의 P2P VOD 서비스를 위한 클러스터 세그먼트 인덱스 기법 (Clustered Segment Index Scheme for P2P VOD Service on Virtual Mesh Overlay Network)

  • Video-on-Demand(VoD) is one of the most popular media streaming which attracted many researchers' attention. VMesh is one of the most cited works in the field of the VoD system. VMesh is proposed to solve the problem of random seeking functionality. However, a large number of the DHT(Distributed Hash Table) searches in VMesh is sill the main problem which needs to be solved. In order to reduce the number of the DHT searches, the clustered segment index(CSI) scheme is proposed. In this scheme, the video segments are divided into clusters. The segment information of the video segments, which are clustered into the same cluster, are stored in the same clustered segment index that can be searched by using the hash key. Each peer also can request the required segments by using this clustered segment index. The experiment results show that the number of the DHT searches in the proposed scheme is less than that of VMesh even in case of peers leave and join the network or peers perform the fast forward/backward operations.

한탄바이러스 호왕균주의 M, S 유전자 절편의 염기서열 및 분자생물학적 특성 (Molecular Characterization of a New Hantaan Virus Howang Strain)

  • Hantaan virus Howang strain which isolated from the blood of severe case of Korean hemorrhagic fever is more virulent than HTN 76/118 and showed different RFLP from partial PCR amplifed M genome segment to established Hantaan serotype viruses. We have determined the nucleotide sequence of the M and S genome segments and compared to HTN 76/118. The M and S segment of Howang strain has 3615 and 1696 nucleotides long, respectively. The M segment sequence of Howang strain is one mucleotide shorter than HTN 76/118. The sequence data of Howang strain shows 93.5% homology to HTN 76/118. One long open reading frame, which strats from 41nt. to 3448nt. of the M segment and from 37nt. to 1326nt. of the S segment, exist to on complementary sense of the virus genome. There are no significant difference between HTN 76/118 and Howang strain on hydrophobicity of deduced polypeptides, but has slight difference on secondary structure.

Symptomatic Adjacent Segment Degeneration Following Posterior Lumbar Arthrodesis : Retrospective Analysis of 26 Patients Experienced in. 10-year of Periods

  • Objective : The authors retrospectively analyzed clinical and radiographic features of patients who developed symptomatic adjacent segment degeneration (ASD) that required re-operation. Methods : From 1995 to 2004, among 412 patients who underwent posterior lumbar fusion surgery, the authors experienced twenty-six patients who presented symptomatic ASD. Records of these patients were reviewed to collect clinical data at the first and second operations. Results : The patients were 9 males and 17 females whose mean age was $63.5{\pm}8.7$ years. Among 319 one segment and 102 multi-segment fusions, 16 and 10 patients presented ASD, respectively. Seventeen ASDs were noticed at the cephalad to fusion (65%), eight at the caudad (31%), and one at the cephalad and caudad, simultaneously (4%). All patients underwent decompression surgery. Nine patients underwent additional fusion surgeries to adjacent degenerated segments. In 17 patients who underwent only decompression surgery without fusion, the success rate was 82.4%. In fusion cases. the success rate was observed as 55.5%. There were no statistically significant factors to be related to development of ASD. However, in cases of multi-level fusion surgery, there was a tendency toward increasing ASD. Conclusion : Multi-segment fusion surgery could be associated with a development of ASD. In surgical treatment of symptomatic ASD, selective decompression without fusion may need to be considered as a primary procedure, which could reduce the potential risk of later occurrence of the other adjacent segment disease.

쉴드 터널 세그먼트 라이닝 설계에서 빔-스프링 구조 모델이 단면력에 미치는 영향 (A study on the factors influencing the segment lining design solved by beam-spring model in the shield tunnel)

  • 쉴드터널의 세그먼트 라이닝 단면 설계는 일반적으로 빔-스프링 모델을 사용하여 이루어지며, 산정되는 단면력은 모델구성요소인 작용하중, 지반반력계수, 세그먼트 조인트 위치 및 강성 등의 영향을 받는다. 국내 쉴드터널 세그먼트라이닝의 설계는 해외에서 사용되고 있는 구조해석 모델과 이음부 강성을 주로 이용하고 있으며, 기존 설계에서 사용하고 있는 구조해석 모델이나 조인트 강성을 적합여부 검토 없이 관행적으로 사용해오고 있다. 본 연구에서는 쉴드터널 세그먼트 라이닝의 부재력을 산정하기 위해 필요한 지반반력계수, 모델링 방법 등 빔-스프링 모델의 기본 구성요소들에 대한 비교 검토를 통하여 세그먼트 라이닝 설계법을 구성하는 기본 요소들의 적용방법을 제안하였다.

Experimental study on fatigue crack propagation of fiber metal laminates

  • This study aimed to investigate the fatigue crack growth behavior of a kind of fiber metal laminates (FML) under four different stress levels. The FML specimen consists of three 2024-T3 aluminum alloy sheets and two layers of glass/epoxy composite lamina. Tensile-tensile cyclic fatigue tests were conducted on centrally notched specimen at four stress levels with various maximum values. A digital camera system was used to take photos of the propagating cracks on both sides of the specimens. Image processing software was adopted to accurately measure the length of the cracks on each photo. The test results show that: (1) a-N and da/dN-a curves of FML specimens can be divided into transient crack growth segment, steady state crack growth segment and accelerated crack growth segment; (2) compared to 2024-T3 aluminum alloy, the fatigue properties of FML are much better; (3) da/dN-${\Delta}K$ curves of FML specimens can be divided into fatigue crack growth rate decrease segment and fatigue crack growth rate increase segment; (3) the maximum stress level has a large influence on a-N, da/dN-a and da/dN-${\Delta}K$ curves of FML specimens; (4) the fatigue crack growth rate da/dN presents a nonlinear accelerated increasing trend to the maximum stress level; (5) the maximum stress level has an almost linear relationship with the stress intensity factor ${\Delta}K$.

Adenosine 부하 $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI 심근 관류스캔도중 나타나는 ST절 하강과 관상동맥 질환의 중증도와의 관계 (Relationship Between Adenosine-Induced ST Segment Depression During $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI Scintigraphy and The Severity of Coronary Artery Disease)

  • Pharmacologic coronary vasodilation in conjunction with myocardial perfusion scintigraphy has become an alternative to dynamic exercise test for the diagnosis and risk stratification of coronary artery disease, especially in patients who are unable to perform adequate exercise. Dipyridamole and adenosine have been used for pharmacologic stress testing with myocardial perfusion imaging. Adenosine is a potent coronary vasodilator with rapid onset of action, short half-life, near maximal coronary vasodilation and less serious side effects. ST segment depression has been reported in about 7-15% of patients with coronary artery disease receiving dipyridamole in conjunction with myocardial perfusion imaging. The exact cause and clinical significance are not known. In order to evaluate the relationship between adenosine-induced ST segment depression during $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI myocardial perfusion scintigraphy and the severity of coronary artery disease, we performed $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI imaging after intravenous Infusion of adenosine In 120 patients with suspected coronary artery disease. Of the 120 patients, 28 also performed coronary angiography. There were 24 patients with ST segment depression during $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI scintigraphy and 96 patients without ST segment depression. Adenosine was infused Intravenously at a dose of 0.14mg/kg per minute lot 6minutes and $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI was injected at 3 minute. We then com-pared the hemodynamic changes, side effects, scintigraphic and angiographic findings. Heart rate increased $90{\pm}19$ beats/minute in the group with ST depression compared with $80{\pm}16$ beats/minute in the group without ST depression(p<0.05). Baseline systolic blood pressure was significantly higher in the group with ST depression($152{\pm}27$ mmHg) than in the group without 57 depression($140{\pm}21$mmHg, p<0.05). Double product at baseline($10.90{\pm}2.77$ versus $9.55{\pm}2.34\;beats/minute{\times}mmHg$) and during adenosine infusion($12.72{\pm}3.89$ versus $10.83{\pm}2.98\;beats/minute{\times}mmHg$) were significantly higher in the group with ST depression(p<0.05). The incidence of anginal chest pain was also significantly higher in the group with ST depression(ST versus 29%, p<0.0001). The $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI images were abnormal in 23(96%) patients with ST segment depression and 66(69%) patients without ST segment depression(p<0.05). In patients with ST segment depression, there were more reversible perfusion defects than in patients without ST segment depression(83 versus 55%, p<0.05). The number of abnormal segments were significantly higher in the group with ST depression($3.05{\pm}2.01$ versus $1.51{\pm}1.45$, p<0.005). In patients with ST segment depression, there were more segments of reversible perfusion defects than in patients without segment depression($2.15{\pm}2.11$ versus $0.89{\pm}1.24$, p<0.05). There were no differences in the angiographic severity by vessel(p ; NS). We concluded that ST segment depression during $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI myocardial perfusion scintigraphy with Intravenous adenosine is related to the severity of coronary artery disease.

  • This paper presents an algorithm for building detection from aerial image using segment measure function and line relation. In the detection algorithm proposed, edge detection, linear approximation and line linking are used and then line measure function is applied to each line segment in order to improve the accuracy of linear approximation. Parallelisms, orthogonalities are applied to the extracted liner segments to extract building. The algorithm was applied to aerial image and the buildings were accurately detected.

음향특성에 따른 태음인 체질병증(體質病證) 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Sasang Constitutional Symptom of Taeumin by Voice Characteristics)

Objectives and Methods This study was done to investigate the relationships of Sound parameters between Liver Heat Symptom and Esophagus Symptom of Taeumin using PSSC(Phonetic System of Sasang Constitution) in a sentence. Experimental Participants were 20 Korean adult males including, each 10 Liver Heat Symptom and Esophagus Symptom of Taeumin. 2. Results In Pitch segment, APQ segment and Shimmer segment, there were no significant differences between Liver Heat Symptom and Esophagus Symptom of Taeumin. In Octave segment, there were significant differences in Octave 1, Octave 3, Octave 4, Octave 6 of Liver Heat Symptom of Taeumin were significantly high compared with Esophagus Symptom of Taeumin. In Energy segment, FreQ Domain Total Sum / cnt(0), 0k-2k Total Sum,0k-2k sum dev., 2k-4k Total Sum, 2k-4k sum dev., A# Tot E, B__TOT_E, C__TOT_E, C# Tot E, D__TOT_E, A sum dev., A# sum dev., B sum dev., C sum dev., C# sum dev., Dsum dev., D# sum dev., E sum dev., F sum dev., F# sum dev., G sum dev., G# sum dev. of Liver Heat Symptom of Taeumin were significantly high compared with Esophagus Symptom of Taeumin. In Voice Recording time segment, Total Voice Recording Time, Voice Recording Time, Divide By Time3, Divide By Energy10, Total Unit, Max Unit Position, U_0 TO 3 of Liver Heat Symptom of Taeumin were significantly high compared with Esophagus Symptom of Taeumin. 3. Conclusion From above result, there is the postbility of efficiency quide constitutional sx. of Taeumin by Voice characteristics. More Soeumin, Soyangin and Taeyangin Symptoms are needed to determine Sasang Constitution using PSSC and to make PSSC effective.
