The purpose of this study is to evaluate a simulation model of a stacking guidance system (SGS) with a roller guide applicable to the mobile harbor. The study used a small-scale model (1/20) made of wood with rollers in order to compare the dynamic analysis with experiment results. The law of similarity was applied for the validation of the scaled model. In order to construct a more realistic simulation model, the damping coefficient of the dynamic model was adjusted to 0.5 Ns/mm for the wood-to-wood contact condition based on the experimental results. Using this validated model, dynamic simulations were also carried out for containers of 20, 30, and 40 tons. The results showed that the reaction force of the roller guide was increased from 74.7 kN to 91.2 kN as the weight of container increased. For the design of a roller guide for SGS, the results obtained in this study can be used to reduce the reaction force by employing a rubber roller or a highly damped rotational joint.

In this paper, we consider a periodic preventive maintenance(PM) policy in which each PM reduces the hazard rate of amount proportional to the failure intensity, which increases since the last PM and slows down the wear-out speed to that of new one. And the proportion of reduction in hazard rate decreases with the number of PMs. Our model is similar to $ARI_1$ proposed by Doyen and Gaudoin(2004) in the sense of reduction of hazard rate. Our model has totally different wear-out pattern of hazard rate after PM's, however, and the proportion of reduction depends on the number of PM's. Assuming that the system undergoes only minimal repairs at failures between PM's, the expected cost rate per unit time is obtained. The optimal number N of PM and the optimal period x, which minimize the expected cost rate per unit time are discussed. Explicit solutions for the optimal periodic PM are given for the Weibull distribution case.

This monograph was probed effectively by using practical methods in a subjectivity study that was accessible in depth, departing from bygone behavior of functional quantity analysis of awareness and the opinions of young people about the general (public) model of TV advertising. The perception patterns resolved in this study sorted out four types in a Q-methodology. The result is divided as follows: 1 [(N=7): Advertising Consensus Type], 2 [(N=7): Advertising Negative Type], 3 [(N=5): Advertising Purchasing Reduction Type], and 4 [(N=1): Advertising Persuasion Orientation Type]. As such, we found very different types all over. Finally, this study reviews subjective acceptance as to the type of model reception with regard to general TV advertising, offering a developmental suggestion on the issue, and an agenda about it.

The purpose of this paper is to present an optimization scheme that aims at minimizing the expected cost per unittime. This study considers a linear connected-(r, s)-ouI-of-(m, n):f lattice system whose components are orderedlike the elements of a linear (m, n)-matrix. We assume that all components are in the state 1 (operating) or 0(failed) and identical and s-independent. The system fails whenever at least one connected (r, s)-submatrix offailed components occurs. To find the optimal threshold of maintenance intervention, we use a simulatedannealing(SA) algorithm for the cost optimization procedure. The expected cost per unit time is obtained byMonte Carlo simulation. We also has made sensitivity analysis to the different cost parameters. In this study, utility maintenance model is constructed so that minimize the expense under full equipment policy throughcomparison for the full equipment policy and preventive maintenance policy. The full equipment cycle and unitcost rate are acquired by simulated annealing algorithm. The SA algorithm is appeared to converge fast inmulti-component system that is suitable to optimization decision problem.

The present study was carried out to investigate the effect of MA processing variables on the microstructural properties of composite powders and the coefficient of thermal expansion of pulse electric current sintered AlN-Cu powder compacts. The AlN-Cu powders had a size of less than 15 $\mu\textrm{m}$ with 25 nm size of copper crystallite after MA 32 hours. The finely distributed AlN-Cu powder compacts were completely achieved after PECS. The residual oxygen was considerably removed after hydrogen reduction treatment. The residual carbon was completely removed to 97%. The CTE of AlN-Cu powder compacts showed a good consistency with Kingery-Tuner model when the volume fraction of copper was less than 60%. When it was more than 60%, the CTE had a good agreement with Series model.
Accurate estimations of pre-failure deformations and post-failure responses of geostructures require that the simulation tool possesses at least three main ingredients: 1) a constitutive model that is able to describe the macroscopic stress-strain-strength behavior of soils subjected to complex stress/strain paths over a wide range of confining pressures and densities, 2) an embedded length scale that accounts for the intricate physical phenomena that occur at the grain size scale in the soil, and 3) a computational platform that allows the analysis to be carried out beyond the development of an initially "contained" failure zone in the soil. In this paper, a two-scale micropolar plasticity model will be used to incorporate all these ingredients. The model is implemented in a finite element platform that is based on the mechanics of micropolar continua. Appropriate finite elements are developed to couple displacement, micro-rotations, and pore-water pressure in form of $u_n-{\phi}_m$ and $u_n-p_m-{\phi}_m$ (n > m) elements for analysis of dry and saturated soils. Performance of the model is assessed in a biaxial compression test on a slightly heterogeneous specimen of sand. The role of micropolar component of the model on capturing the post-failure response of the soil is demonstrated.

This paper presents a new structural system to use as retaining walls. In civil works, there is a general trend to use traditional reinforced concrete (RC) retaining walls to resist soil pressure. Despite their good resistance, RC retaining walls have some disadvantages such as need for huge temporary formworks, high dense reinforcing, low construction speed, etc. In the present work, a composite wall with only one steel plate (steel-concrete) is proposed to address the disadvantages of the RC walls. In the proposed system, steel plate is utilized not only as tensile reinforcement but also as a permanent formwork for the concrete. In order to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed SC composite system, an experimental program that includes nine SC composite wall specimens is developed. In this experimental study, the effects of different parameters such as distance between shear connectors, length of shear connectors, concrete ultimate strength, use of compressive steel plate and compressive steel reinforcement are investigated. In addition, a 3D finite element (FE) model for SC composite walls is proposed using the finite element program ABAQUS and load-displacement curves from FE analyses were compared against results obtained from physical testing. In all cases, the proposed FE model is reasonably accurate to predict the behavior of SC composite walls under out-of-plane loads. Results from experimental work and numerical study show that the SC composite wall system has high strength and ductile behavior under flexural loads. Furthermore, the design equations based on ACI code for calculating out-ofplate flexural and shear strength of SC composite walls are presented and compared to experimental database.
Seismic performance evaluation of shear wall is essential as it is the major lateral load resisting member of a structure. The ultimate load and ultimate drift of the shear wall are the two most important parameters which need to be assessed experimentally and verified analytically. This paper comprises the results of monotonic tests, quasi-static cyclic tests and shake-table tests carried out on a midrise shear wall. The shear wall considered for the study is 1:5 scaled model of the shear wall of the internal structure of a reactor building. The analytical simulation of these tests is carried out using micro and macro modeling of the shear wall. This paper mainly consists of modification in the hysteretic macro model, developed for RC structural walls by Lestuzzi and Badoux in 2003. This modification is made by considering the stiffness degradation effect observed from the tests carried out and this modified model is then used for nonlinear dynamic analysis of the shear wall. The outcome of the paper gives the variation of the capacity, the failure patterns and the performance levels of the shear walls in all three types of tests. The change in the stiffness and the damping of the wall due to increased damage and cracking when subjected to seismic excitation is also highlighted in the paper.

This paper deals with a continuous-review two-echelon inventory model with one-for-one replenishment and Poisson demand where transshipments among retailers are allowed. Two classes of inventory systems are considered by the number of distribution centers(DCs) which provide each retailor with inventory items. 1:N class inventory system and M:N class inventory system respectively. Two-phase model is constructed to find out the optimal inventory positions which minimize supply chain costs. Approximations for customer service levels of the system are evaluated in the first phase, and the optimal inventory positions are found subject to the constraints for service level in the second phase. Simulation tests are performed to assure the effectiveness of the proposed model. The effect of transshipment is evaluated.
