Complex structures are usually assembled from several substructures with joints connecting them together. These joints have significant effects on the dynamic behavior of the assembled structure and must be accurately modeled. In structural analysis, these joints are often simplified by assuming ideal boundary conditions. However, the dynamic behavior predicted on the basis of the simplified model may have significant errors. This has prompted the researchers to include the effect of joint stiffness in the structural model and to estimate the stiffness parameters using inverse dynamics. In the present work, structural joints have been modeled as a pair of translational and rotational springs and frequency equation of the overall system has been developed using sub-structure synthesis. It is shown that using first few natural frequencies of the system, one can obtain a set of over-determined system of equations involving the unknown stiffness parameters. Method of multi-linear regression is then applied to obtain the best estimate of the unknown stiffness parameters. The estimation procedure has been developed for a two parameter joint stiffness matrix.

Traditionally, the continuum-based topology optimization methods employing the SIMP technique have been used to design compliant mechanisms. Although they have been successful, the optimized mechanisms by the methods are usually difficult to manufacture because of their geometrical complexities. The objective of this study is to develop a topology optimization method that can produce easy-to-fabricate mechanism structure. The proposed method is a ground beam method where beam connectivity is controlled by the beam joint stiffness. In this approach, beam joint stiffness determines the mechanism configuration. Because b the ground structure beams have uniform thicknesses varying only discretely, the resulting mechanism topologies become easily manufacturable.
The dynamic behavior of a complex mechanical structure can be identified by dividing the structure into a series of smaller structure, called sub- structure and by studying the dynamic characteristics of these components. Generally, the dynamic characteristics of mechanical structure are strongly affected by the properties of joint parameters. In this paper, to identify the dynamic characteristics of mechanical structure, and experimental identification method in which directrly measured frequency response function(FRF) is used is considered. The method does not use the procedure of complex matrix calculation but use that of real matrix calculation. To confirm this method, computer simulation is performed by using frequency response function mixed with noise, and the experimental study is performed about the simple structure. The dynamic characteristics of joint parameters and identified more accurately than in using the prcedure of complex matrix calculation.

The K-joint is one of the commonly applied element in offshore structures. Due to its structural configuration, the stress concentration occurs in the joint. Considering the important effect to the structural safety and the design optimization, a design guideline is strongly required. The main variables determining the configuration of K-joint including ${\alpha},\;{\beta},\;{\gamma},\;{\tau}$ and ${\theta}$ are closely investigated to find the individual effect to the Stress to K-joint. The maximum Stress of joint has been differed as per the variation of parameters. The parametric study has been numerically carried out and compare with the experimental data.
Purpose - This study applies the traditional Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) model from industrial organization theory to investigate the relationship between market structure and performance in China's banking industry. Design/methodology/approach - For analysis, financial data from the People's Bank of China's "China Financial Stability Report" and financial reports of 6 state-owned banks and 11 joint-stock banks for the period 2010 to 2021 were collected to create a balanced panel dataset. The study employs panel fixed-effects regression analysis to assess the impact of changes in market structure and ownership structure on performance variables including return on asset, profitability, costs, and non-performing loan ratios. Findings - Empirical findings highlight significant differences in the effects of market structure between state-owned and joint-stock banks. Notably, increased market competition positively correlates with higher profits for state-owned banks and with lower costs for joint-stock banks. Research implications or Originality - State-owned banks demonstrate larger scale and stability, yet they struggle to respond effectively to market shifts. Conversely, joint-stock banks face challenges in raising profitability against competitive pressures. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance for Chinese banks to strengthen risk management due to the increase of non-performing loans with competition. The results provide insights into reform policies for Chinese banks regarding the involvement of private sector in the context of market liberalization process in China.

The neighbouring gaps at the mortise-tenon joint in traditional timber structure, which leads to the complexity of the joint, are considered to impair the mechanical performance of the joint. In this paper, numerical simulation of loose joint was conducted to examine the deformation states, stress distributions, and bearing capacities, which was verified by full-scale test. On the basis of the experimental and numerical results, a simplified mechanics model with gaps has been proposed to present the bending capacity of the loose joint. Besides, the gap effects and parameter studies on the influences of tenon height, friction coefficient, elastic modulus and axial load were also investigated. As a result, the estimated relationship between moment and rotation angle of loose joint showed the agreement with the numerical results, demonstrating validity of the proposed model; The bending bearing capacity and rotational stiffness of loose joint had a certain drop with the increasing of gaps; and the tenon height may be the most important factor affecting the mechanical behaviors of the joint when it is subjected to repeated load; Research results can provide important references on the condition assessments of the existing mortise-tenon joint.

Guided missiles assembled with the bolted joint are subjected to various shock loading conditions while flying in the air and operating on the ground or platform. Especially, It is important to analyze the effect of the shock load on the structure because it affects the structure for a short duration time while its acceleration magnitude is quite large. In this study, mechanical shock tests on the structure with the bolted joint have been carried out to measure the acceleration changes of the structure against external shock loads by electrical exciter. Variation of dynamic characteristics of a structure with fastening methods and fastening forces has been investigated through Shock Response Spectrum analysis.
In the field of welding the mechanical behavior of a welded structure under consideration may be predicted via heat transfer and welding residual stress analysis. Usually such numerical analyses are limited to small regular mesh models or test specimens. Nevertheless, there is very few strength assessment of the whole structure that includes the effect of welded residual stress. The present work is based on the specialized finite element codes for the calculation of nonlinear heat transfer details and residual stress including the external load on the welded RHS (Rectangular Hollow Section) T-joint connections of the whole structure. First the thermal history of the combined fillet and butt-welded T-joint equal width cold-formed RHS are calculated using nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA) considering the quarter model of the joint. Then using this thermal history the residual stress around the joints has been evaluated. To validity the FEA result, the calculated residual stresses were compared with the available experimental results. The residual stress obtained from the quarter model is mapped to the full model and then to the whole structure model using FEM codes. The results from the FEM codes were exported to the commercial package for visualization and further analysis applying loads and boundary conditions on the whole structure. The residual stress redistribution along with the external applied load is examined computationally.
An experimental and analytical study on the behavior of the wall-support joint in SC(steel plate-concrete) structure was performed. Nine full-scale specimens were tested with a horizontal monotonic load, all acting in the same plane, causing a uni-axial moment on the SC structure's wall-support beam joint. The main focus is to examine thenonlinear behavior and ultimate strength of the SC wall-support joint. The effects of parameters, such aslocation of support, thickness of the steel plate, and size of support, were studied. The yield strength and ultimate strength of the plate-concrete wall was defined by examining the load-deflection relationship, showing the tension membrane action.
This study proposed to beam-column joint model consisting of different type structural member to develop new structural system in the structural viewpoint as to a method to overcome various problem according to change of construction environment. This study promoted rigidity and capacity to stiffen reinforced concrete for steel structure end to increase rigidity of long spaned steel beam, and welt to steel flange to anchor U-shaped main bar of SRC structure end to easy stress flow between the different type structure. Through the series of experiments, proposed to possibility of this joint model, and investigated joint rigidity and capacity.
