  • Objective: To explore the application of joint detection of serum AFP, CA19-9, CA125 and CEA in identification and diagnosis of cholangiocarcinoma (CC). Materials and Methods: The levels of serum AFP, CA19-9, CA125 and CEA of both 30 patients with CC and 30 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) were assessed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to evaluate the diagnostic effects of single and joint detection of those 4 kinds of tumor markers for CC. Results: The levels of serum CA19-9, CA125 and CEA in CC patients were higher than that in HCC patients, whereas that of serum AFP was significantly lower s. The area under ROC curve of single detection of serum AFP, CA19-9, CA125 and CEA were 0.05, 0.86, 0.84 and 0.83, with the optimal cutoff values of 15.4 ng/ml, 125.1 U/ml, 95.7 U/ml and 25.9 ng/ml, correspondingly, and the percentage correct single diagnosis was <79%. With joint detection, the diagnostic effect of combined AFP, CA19-9, CA125 and CEA was the highest, with an area under the ROC curve of 0.94 (95%CI 0.88~0.99). Conclusions: Single detection of serum CA19-9, CA125 and EA is not meaningful. The sensitivity, specificity, the rate of correct diagnosis and the area under ROC curve of joint detection of AFP, CA19-9, CA125 and CEA are highest, indicating that the joint detection of these 4 tumor markers is of great importance in the diagnosis of CC.

  • SAR radar and FLIR images, which are taken from sensors on aircrafts or satellites, are compressed prior to transmission to facilitate rapid transfer through the limited bandwidth channels. In this case, it is important that it achieves compression ratio as high as possible as well as high target detection rate. In this paper a joint ATR-compression system based on the subband coding and VQ is proposed, which utilizes the encoder as a predictor or classifier for target detection. Simulation result shows that the proposed system achieves a relatively high level of target detection performance as well as a high compression ratio over 200:1.

  • In the non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system, multiple user signals on the single carrier are superimposed in a non-orthogonal manner, which results in the interference between non-orthogonal users and noise interference in the channel. To solve this problem, an improved algorithm combining regularized zero-forcing (RZF) precoding with minimum mean square error-serial interference cancellation (MMSE-SIC) detection is proposed. The algorithm uses RZF precoding combined with successive over-relaxation (SOR) method at the base station to preprocess the source signal, which can balance the effects of non-orthogonal inter-user interference and noise interference, and generate a precoded signal suitable for transmission in the channel. At the receiver, the MMSE-SIC detection algorithm is used to further eliminate the interference in the signal for the received superimposed signal, and reduce the calculation complexity through the QR decomposition of the matrix. The simulation results show that the proposed joint detection algorithm has good applicability to eliminate the interference of non-orthogonal users, and it has low complexity and fast convergence speed. Compared with other traditional method, the improved method has lower error rate under different signal-to-interference and noise ratio (SINR).

  • This paper proposes an efficient detection of absolute position of a robot joint using two incremental encoders. We considers a robot joint comprising a motor, a reducer, two encoders, and a motor drive. An incremental(first) encoder provides motor's rotor position or input position of reducer while another incremental(second) encoder does output position of the reducer. A table is made where the relationship between the first and the second encoder counts is recorded. The key point is placed where the table is constructed: when a pulse occurs in the second encoder, there exists a corresponding unique count value of the first encoder. The absolute position is detected using the table by searching the second encoder position corresponding to the first encoder count value when a pulse occurs in the second encoder. The proposed method needs a small rotation, as just one second encoder's pulse angle, for the initial absolute position detection.

  • In this paper, the bit error ratio(BER) performance of multi-carrier CDMA system in multi-user/multi-path environment is analytically derived, and effect of interferences due to multi-user, multi-carrier, multi-path is analyzed. A multi-carrier/multi-user/multi-path joint detection scheme incorporating a decorrelating detector is proposed, and its performance as well as the enhancement of noise due to decorrelating process are analyzed. BER of the proposed joint detection scheme is only slightly degraded compared to the ideal case of single user environment.

  • Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is an effective data analysis technique which is commonly used for fault detection on collected data of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), However, applying PCA on the whole data make the detection performance low. In this paper, we propose Joint PCA and Adaptive Threshold for Fault Detection (JPATAD). Experimental results on a real dataset show a remarkably higher performance of JPATAD comparing to conventional PCA model in detection of noise which is a popular fault in collected data of sensors.

  • With the rising interaction between robots and humans, detecting collisions has become increasingly vital for ensuring safety. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for detecting collisions without using force torque sensors or tactile sensors, utilizing a Transformer-based neural network architecture. The proposed collision detection approach comprises a torque estimator network that predicts the joint torque in a free-motion state using Synchronous time-step encoding, and a collision discriminator network that predicts collisions by leveraging the difference between estimated and actual torques. The collision discriminator finally creates a binary tensor that predicts collisions frame by frame. In simulations, the proposed network exhibited enhanced collision detection performance relative to the other kinds of networks both in terms of prediction speed and accuracy. This underscores the benefits of using Transformer networks for collision detection tasks, where rapid decision-making is essential.

  • In this paper, we study STBC(Space Time Block Code) detection scheme in time varying Rayleigh fading channel. When the channel is varying during the time duration of STBC, the channel matrix of orthogonal STBC is not orthogonal. To get the optimum reception performance in this channel, joint ML detection scheme may be used, however this scheme requires high computation complexity. Decision feedback scheme is proposed to reduce the computation complexity with less reception performance. In this paper, we propose a novel STBC detection algorithm using double decision feedback which is less complex than the joint ML scheme and outperforms the conventional decision feedback scheme.

  • Organized hematoma is a pseudo-tumorous lesion mostly occurs at sinonasal cavity and often confused with malignant neoplasm. The initiation of this lesion is blood accumulation, probably due to trauma, and this hematoma develops into organized hematoma as it encapsulated with fibrous band and neo-vascularized. Since it is uninformed at temporomandibular joint (TMJ) region, imaging diagnosis might be challenging. Also, delayed detection of mass involving TMJ is not uncommon due to confusion with joint disorder. Thus, this report introduced the rare pathology, organized hematoma on TMJ with advanced imaging features. Also, diagnostic point for early detection was described for the TMJ tumors and pseudo-tumors considering complexity of surgical intervention in this region.
