  • This study aims to be of help to cope with internal and external circumstances of hospital effectively by analyzing the weight of role for a hospital manager which has been changing. It surveyed 191 top managers and administrators working in a medical institute like hospital located in Busan, Ulsan and Kyungnam area from 20 November, 2007 to 29 February, 2008. The results of this study were as follows: The top manager thought that the role as a leader is the most important role as a manager in present, but the role as an enterpriser is also very important in future, however, they had troubles in the role of a representative which they have carried out in present. In order to overcome the current medical situation that competition is getting keen, it seemed that they expected the role as an enterpriser would be more important in future for competition and organization improvement. The administrator thought the role as a leader is the most important in present, in future and in current performance. It was considered that they recognized the importance of team work, order, goal of the organization, strategies, and information interchange regarding the characteristics of hospital that there are people of various kinds of occupations.

A Study on a Direction of Modification of the Trade and International Business Curriculum for Global Trade Expert (글로벌무역인력 양성을 위한 합리적인 무역학 교과과정 개편방향에 관한 연구)

  • In Korea, the major of international trade and business introduced in the 1960s to supply trade expert to trading companies, and the heyday of the trade major was in the 1980s. However the trade major fell into decay from the middle of 1990s. The purpose of trade education in university is to supply high qualified employees to societies and companies. The problem is that companies have difficuties for recruiting of trade expert, on the other hand university graduates have few job oppertunies. It has some discrepancies between education and field. The object of this paper is to propose a direction of modification of the trade and international business curriculum for global trade expert. We research international trade and business departments' curriculums of GTEP universities. GTEP stands for global trade expert incubating program started from 2006 which have charge of MOCIE and KITA. First, in the title of department, a lot of former researchers have taken up the position to return "Trade" or "International Trade". We think more important fact is not the title of department but the curriculum, so we insist on a harmony between the department title and curriculums. The focus of modification of curriculum is to educate global trade expert, so we need to know about global business environment and companies' needs also. Second, We propose the directions for modification of curriculum are "convergence" and "specialty". Trade major is a mixed study in nature and trade major try to treat lots of subjects such as trade, business adminstration, economics, international law, international commerce, logistics and marketing etc to catch up changing global business circumstanses and companies' needs. So convergence of adjacent field is very important in study and training. Specialty means selection and concentration strategy for global trade expert. It is difficult to learn every knowledge and skills for employer's needs in 4 years and 140 credits. A students who has studied basic subject in trade, management, economics can choose 1 or 2 specailty subject such as trade and e-commerce, global marketing, logistics and transportation, commerce and policy, servive trade, foreign language and cross culture etc. In concusion, the concept of convergence and specialty is not separation but harmony each other, so we propose to promote two concept together for modification of the trade and international business curriculum for training of global trade expert.

  • Rapidly changing information technologies and changes in new information type provide a new turning point in librarian's role and job as an information specialist. A library traditionally processes and manages paper-type information resources. But, with new requirements to library and changes of information sources, a digital library for use, management, and delivery of information came into existence. The appearance of digital library provides new direction for information processing and requires various changes in roles of information specialists for appropriately and quickly providing information and knowledge for users. The developments of information technology related to information and knowledge and environmental changes around library provide information specialist, who have a role in information processing and delivery, with new challenging areas. On the other hand, the traditional library areas can be infringed upon by those factors. With such rapid changes, an information specialist with a major in library and information science makes various efforts to keep their status as an information specialist and performs their role in information siciety. Currently, they partially lead an active role in the areas relating information and knowledge. This paper focuses on information specialist' current status and role in not library areas but new areas related to information technologies, and figures out requirements to take firm position in those areas.

Effect of Food Habits and Perceived Food Quality on Satisfaction with Elementary School Lunch in Gyeonggi Province (경기도 초등학교 급식에서 식습관과 지각된 식사품질이 만족에 미치는 영향)

  • The provincial education office considers providing school lunch as a foodservice and intends to improve consumer satisfaction. This study investigates the effect of student food habits and perceived food quality on satisfaction with school lunch based on Oliver's expectancy disconfirmation theory. We test the moderating effect of student gender and school conditions, such as the location of the school, job positon of the nutrition teacher, renovating kitchen and food distributing place. Questionnaires were collected from 240 sixth graders in the eight elementary schools in Gyeonggi province from August to September 2014. Excluding inadequate questionnaires, 208 were analyzed. PLS (Partial Least Square) and bootstrap t-tests were conducted for this study. The results showed food habits affected satisfaction directly (p<0.01). The perceived food quality of the school lunch service mediated this relationship in part (p<0.01). Moderating effects identified were gender (p<0.1), nutrition teacher's position(p<0.05), and renovating kitchen (p<0.1), but not location of school or distributing place. The study revealed the importance of student food habits and perceived food quality, which had an influence on satisfaction. We make a distinction between the concepts of satisfaction and quality so as to improve student satisfaction. When it comes to offering education program about food habits, the schools with old-fashion kitchen is given priority to than renovating one.

Epidemiological and Lumbar x-ray Studies on the Low Back Pain of the Workers in an Automobile Industry (자동차 제조업체 근로자들의 요통에 대한 역학적 요추 x-선학적 고찰)

  • To investigate the risk factors of low back pain, an epidemiological study was carried out among male workers aged 20-55 employed in an automobile industry in Korea during the time period from February 1993 to October 1995. Workers participated to this study were divided into low back pain group(LBP) and control group, according to the self-reports by written questionnaires. General characteristics, medical history, work related factors, fatigue, and MMPI were compared between two groups. To clarify the relationship between job related low back pain and radiologic features of lumbar spine, radiographic study was carried out. The resultant data were processed for $x^2-test$, t-test, and stepwise logistic regression to confirm the adjusted odds ratios. The results were as follows: 1. History of back disease, lifting and carrying work, excessive physical fatigue, and weakend back strength of individual workers were directly associated with low back pain. Odd ratios of these 4 risk factors of low back pain were 5.07, 3.34, 1.49, and 1.22 respectively. 2. The frequency of low back pain history was significantly higher in LBP group. 3. Back muscle strength of lumbar spine of LBP group were significantly lower than control group. 4. The workers in LBP group revealed high fatigue symptoms. 5. In MMPI test LBP group showed higher scales in hypochondriasis, depression, hysteria, psychopathic deviate, paranoia, psychasthenia, schizophrenia, and hypomania. 6. LBP group were more frequently involved in lifting and carrying, working in awkward position, bending, twisting and using lower extremities. 7. LBP group were exposed more to vibration during working. 8. In the Analysis of radiographs of lumbar spine, Jacob's line not crossing fourth lumhar disc space, transitional vertebrae and lumbar displacement more than 4.4mm in standing lateral view were more frequently observed in LBP group than control group. Through these results, it is concluded that identification of previous history of back problem, change of work or working environment for workers with previous back problem and measures to relieve both physical and psychological fatigue of the workers are required for optimal management of work-related back problems among workers. In the present study, several results were different from the previous reports: Jacob's line not corssing fourth lumbar disc space, lumbarization, and vertebral slipping (spondylolisthesis) more than 4.4mm are related to backache. Meticulous studies are required to elucidate the difference.

The influence of the burden of nurse's work and health problems on presenteeism (간호사의 건강문제와 업무에 대한 부담감이 프리젠티즘에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of nurses' perceived burden from work and health problems on the presentism of nurses. The study subjects were recruited from four general and tertiary hospitals in K province and D metropolitan city. A quarter of nurses had shoulder, back, and neck pain and average number of health problems was 3.62. The nurses' presenteeism score was $43.37{\pm}12.43$ points out of 100 points. There was a statistically significant relationship between nurses' perceived burden, numbers of health problems, and presenteeism. The numbers of health problems and perceived burden of nurses had significant effects on presenteeism of nurses while controlling demographic factors such as length of work experience, job position, types of hospital, and gender. These results suggested that the less burden from work and the lower number health problems could result in the lower level of presenteeism of nurses. Therefore, it is necessary to develop diverse strategies to reduce the burden of nurses and health problems at both individual and organizational levels as a way to increase productivity of hospital.

Strategic surgical-combined orthodontic treatment planning of patient with missing incisors on maxilla: a case report (상악 전치부 결손 환자의 수술을 동반한 전략적 교정치료 증례)

  • Proper positioning of maxillary incisors is key to success of surgery combined treatment. Establishing surgery plan would be a difficult job if maxillary incisors are lost. Patient who lost all of her maxillary incisors due to accident came for orthodontic treatment. Through careful modification of maxillary archform, pre-surgical orthodontic treatment was conducted with four prosthetic space consolidation. Position of incisors was decided by help of 3D prosthetic set-up, and 1-jaw surgery was planned. After relative short treatment period of 28 months, final prosthesis was done. When alveolar bone loss happens, harmonious prosthesis of upper incisors is difficult. Utilizing mandibular set-back surgery and incisor positioning using 3D set-up could make a better environment for treatment outcome. Strategic pre-surgical orthodontic treatment can allow shorter time and less number of prosthetics.

Importance awareness and Compliance on Patient Safety for Nurses Working in Operating Rooms (수술실간호사의 수술환자 안전관리에 대한 중요성인지도와 실천이행도)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the perceived patient safety, type of errors related to patient safety, importance awareness and compliance on patient safety for operating room nurses and to identify factors influencing compliance. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire from 191 perioperative nurses. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, paired t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. The perceived patient safety score was 6.3 as moderate level. Types of errors were mostly happened in patient injury (39.8%), counts (18.4%) and infection control (17.5%). The level of compliance on patient safety was significantly lower than that of importance awareness (t=18.01, P<.001). Compliance on patient safety showed significantly positive correlations to importance awareness (r=.56, p<.001). Experience of patient safety education, experience of errors in colleague, job position and working experience in hospital explained 13.9% of variance compliance on patient safety(F=8.407, P<.001). In conclusion, Hospital should develop education program related to patient safety, encourage nurses to manage safety protocol and ensure cultivating patient safety culture in the perioperative practice setting.

Investigation about the Actual Prevention of Infection and Vaccination against B-type Hepatitis among Dental Workers in Daegu (대구지역 치과 의료기관 종사자의 B형간염 예방접종 및 감염관리 실태)

  • This study was conducted on 185 workers at 73 dental clinics and university hospitals in Daegu to investigate the actual prevention of infection and vaccination against B-type hepatitis among dental workers. 1. According to the result of medical examination, only 35 out of 144 (24%) dental clinic workers had periodic health examination while 7 out of 9 (78%) university hospital workers did. 2. In a survey on vaccination against B-type hepatitis, 52 workers aged 29 or younger (96.3%), 38 dental hygienists (51.9%) and 44 dental workers at dental clinics (81.5%) have not had any vaccination against B-type hepatitis. The rest appeared to have had vaccination or be aware that they had antibody against B-type hepatitis without having to have any vaccination. 3. According to the result of a survey on the existence of antibody by job, 42 (56%) of dental hygienists, 15 (20%) of assistant nurses, 12 (16%) of medical assistants and 6 (8%) of dental technicians did not know whether or not they had antibody. This suggests that all types of dental workers except dental hygienists have low awareness of whether or not they have antibody. 4. In a survey on the relation between general characteristics of subjects and the sterilization of dental equipment, alcohol disinfection of high speed handpiece and low speed handpiece was most common among dental workers aged 29 or younger, and all of those aged over 40 used autoclave. By position, alcohol disinfection was used most commonly for high-speed handpiece. antiseptic solution deposition for disposable suction lips, and autoclaving for impression. By workplace, dental workers at university hospitals used autoc1aving most frequently for high/low speed handpiece while those at dental hospitals and dental clinics used alcohol disinfection most frequently and even some respondents replied that they did not disinfect. For metal cups, workers at dental clinics and dental hospitals did not use any sterilizing method while those at university hospitals used autoclaving. For disposable suction tips, workers at dental clinics used antiseptic solution deposition and those at dental hospitals used alcohol disinfection but some respondents replied that they did not disinfect. For metal suctions and impression trays, autoclaving was most common in all workplaces but some dental clinics replied that they did not disinfect impression trays. According to work experience, alcohol disinfection was most common for high/low speed handpiece. For disposable suction tips, dental workers with 3 years' or shorter work experience, those with 3~6 years' experience and those with 9~12 years' experience used antiseptic solution deposition most commonly, and many of those with 6~9 years replied that they did not disinfect. The results of this study stated above suggest that systematic education is necessary for all dental workers for enhancing th eir awareness of B-type hepatitis and the prevention of infection. Moreover, dental workers are required to make efforts to prevent infection with B-type hepatitis voluntarily and actively.

  • This study is concerned on how much effect to activate private security officers from the attitude of CEO in private security companies. Of course the philosophy of CEO at the work is much important element on the company activity. And in small-medium size private security company the effect of CEO is tremendous because most of decision making comes from CEO and company is operated. The result of the analysis of the survey on the CEO in private security business is as belows. a) Most of them are not satisfied and negative from current situation of private security industry because too many companies are scattered and the expected social understanding is too low even though the company was established by their own decision due to it was fit to their aptitude. b) The job position is estimated not high by socio-economical perspective, which would be improved to get higher because this industry is very future business. c) Most of members of the korea security association are in negative on the policy of the korea security association but to enhance of the activity all the members should be in union. d) Must make and settle down a channel to communicate and cooperate each other between public and private sector of security business.
