  • Deadlock is a situation in which two or more processes competing for resources are waiting for the others to finish, and neither ever does. There are two different forms of systems, multi-unit and single-unit resource systems. The difference is the number of instances (or units) of each type of resource. Deadlock problem can be modeled as a constrained combinatorial problem that seeks to find a possible scheduling for the processes through which the system can avoid entering a deadlock state. To solve deadlock problem, several algorithms and techniques have been introduced, but the use of metaheuristics is one of the powerful methods to solve it. Genetic algorithms have been effective in solving many optimization issues, including deadlock Problem. In this paper, an improved parallel framework of the genetic algorithm is introduced and adapted effectively and efficiently to deadlock problem. The proposed modified method is implemented in java and tested on a specific dataset. The experiment shows that proposed approach can produce optimal solutions in terms of burst time and the number of feasible solutions in each advanced generation. Further, the proposed approach enables all types of crossovers to work with high performance.

  • Platform lending or online lending, sometimes called peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, arose due to the digital revolution to meet people's requirements for simple fund borrowing. It quickly became an alternative to other traditional lending techniques, for example, loans banks. Along with the growth of P2P lending, several academics have investigated how information technology is used in financial services, emphasizing extended application methods. This study proposes an enhanced technology acceptance model (TAM) that investigates how consumers embrace P2P lending platforms by using quality of service and perceived risk as drivers of trust, relative advantage and compatibility as drivers of perceived usefulness. For the purpose of this study, we created a questionnaire, distributed it to clients of P2P lending platforms and fintech services in general in cities in Java, Indonesia. We received 290 replies to our questionnaire. The data was analyzed to test the hypotheses using structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings show that consumers' trust, relative advantage, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use in P2P lending platforms substantially affect their views toward adoption. The research's findings are useful for fine-tuning platform marketing strategies and putting strategic goals into action.

  • The purpose of this study was to propose useful suggestions for enhancing reliability to determine the resistance against surface wetting, KS K 0590, by an imaging process. We validated the standard spray test rating chart for determining quantification standard using JAVA script-based imaging process program. All of the acquired images were processed with the image software, Image J (NIH, Nethesda, MD, USA). The study results are as follows. We established the surface area measurement-based quantitative criteria for determining resistance to surface wetting. The standard spray test rating chart was converted into a numerical standard which leads easy-to-determine ratings. We also validated the procedure for imaging treatment by analyzing quantitative data. We introduced the fluorescence image for determining ratings by enabling threshold settings and binary image conversion as an optimal imaging process. It is expected that imaging-based determination for resistant to surface wetting will serve as an accurate and reliable method for KS K 0590.

  • Recently various types of digital maps are widely available through the internet. Such e-maps have an advantage that user can easily get the information of destination by using only the search function. But these e-naps are based on 2D coordinate system so that they have limits that the virtual shapes of ground are very different from the real ones. Therefore, for more actual services of location information, we made a 3D model of Yonsei University with JAVA 3D and VRML technology and built the 3D e-map of Yonsei University, which is applied through the interaction between the web server and clients.

  • The electronic voting becomes new challenging area in cryptographic application. A variety of schemes are designed and implemented based on cryptographic protocols. Initiated by ICU, one of best practices was votopia[1] which was successfully served into the Internet voting based on modified Ohkubo et al.'s scheme[2] under Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Java technology. Votopia was used to select the Most Valuable Player and Best Goal Keepers of 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan$\^$TM/ through the Internet where most voters can access and cast their ballots from any place and at any time. However, votopia assumed that the resources of the Internet voters only connected via wired environment. In this paper, we suggest how to extend votopia to mobile voting which has limited computing resources.

  • In this paper, we describe the development of a platform-based SoC of a 32-bit smart card. The smart card uses a 32-bit microprocessor for high performance and two cryptographic processors for high security. It supports both contact and contactless interfaces, which comply with ISO/IEC 7816 and 14496 Type B. It has a Java Card OS to support multiple applications. We modeled smart card readers with a foreign language interface for efficient verification of the smart card SoC. The SoC was implemented using 0.25 ${\mu}m$ technology. To reduce the power consumption of the smart card SoC, we applied power optimization techniques, including clock gating. Experimental results show that the power consumption of the RSA and ECC cryptographic processors can be reduced by 32% and 62%, respectively, without increasing the area.

  • We developed a web-based virtual laboratory system for electronic circuit experiments on the client/ server distributed environment. Through our virtual laboratory, the learners will be capable of learning the concepts and theories related to electronic circuit experiments and how to operate the experimental equipments such as multimeters, function generators, digital oscilloscopes and DC power suppliers. The proposed virtual laboratory system is composed of four important components: Principle Classroom to explain the concepts and theories of electronic circuit operations, Virtual Experiment Classroom to provide interactive multimedia contents about the syllabus of off-line laboratory class, Assessment Classroom, and Management System. With the aid of the Management System every classroom is organically tied together collaborating to achieve maximum learning efficiency. We have obtained several affirmative effects such as high learning standard, reducing the total experimental hours and the damage rate for experimental equipments.

  • This paper is concerned with the compression test and forming process of flange by using virtual reality and analysis(simulation) program. This virtual manufacturing can be carried out one personal computer without any expensive devices for experiment. The virtual manufacturing composed of three modules such as the imput, calculation and the output modules on internet. Internet user can give the material's property and process parameters to the sever computer at the input module. On the calculation module, a simulator computes the virtual manufacturing process by analysis program and stores the data as a file. The output module is the program in which internet user can confirm virtual manufacturing results by showing tables, graphs, and 3D animation. This programs is designed by an internet language such as HTML, CGI, VRML and JAVA ,while analysis programs use the finite increasing, the virtual manufacturing technique will substitute many real experiments in the future.

  • In this paper we present 3-D Navigation View, a three-dimensional visualization of indoor environment which serves as an intuitive and unified user interface for our developed indoor location tracking system via Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) in web environment. The extracted user's spatial information from indoor location tracking system was further processed to facilitate the location indication in virtual 3-D indoor environment based on his location in physical world. External Authoring Interface (EAI) provided by VRML enables the integration of interactive 3-D graphics into web and direct communication with the encapsulated Java applet to update position and viewpoint of user periodically in 3-D indoor environment. As any web browser with VRML viewer plug-in is able to run the platform independent 3-D Navigation View, specialized and expensive hardware or software can be disregarded.

  • This study discusses an effort to build a model to link normalized difference vegetation indices (NDVI) and socio-economic indicators derived from village survey (1990, 1993, 1996, and 2000) statistical data in Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia. Socio-economics indicators of sub-district level, in this study the number of agricultural households (AH), are aggregated from village level data. NDVI from Landsat-TM resolution data (1989 and 1997) are computed to detect land use/land cover (LULC) dynamics in the sub-district areas. Attention is mainly paid on the examination of agricultural land cover changing in the sub-district level. NDVI measurements might be used to predict AH dynamics as showed by computed linear regression models.
