Preparation of Waterborne Polyurethanes Containing Polycarbonate Component and Their Applications to the Impregnation Finishing for Artificial Leathers (폴리카보네이트 성분을 포함하는 수분산 폴리우레탄의 제조와 인공피혁 함침가공에의 응용)

  • Waterborne polyurethanes (WPUs) based on isophorone diisocyanate and mixed polyols of poly(tetramethylene glycol) (PTMG)/polycarbonate diol (PCD) were synthesized. The variation of mechanical and dyeing properties and alkali resistance of the WPU films were analyzed according to the polycarbonate (PC) content. The tensile strength of the films increased and the elongation at break decreased with the PC content in the WPU film. The incorporation of PC component in the WPU film did not affect the alkaline hydrolysis behavior. The synthesized WPU solutions were used as impregnating resins for the production of PET artificial leathers. The prepared WPU resins showed the good color fastness to washing, rubbing, and light of the artificial leather fabrics. The improvement of the properties became greater with the PC content in the WPU resin.

Preparation and Physical Properties of Aqueous Polyurethane Based on Mono Methyl Ether for Skin Layer Coating (Skin layer 코팅에 사용되는 Mono Methyl Ether 기반 수성 폴리우레탄의 제조 및 물리적 성질)

  • In this study, polyether polyol polypropylene glycol and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) were synthesized based on polyrupopylene mono methyl eher (PM) for the synthesis of water - soluble polyurethane for coating on leather skin layer. After synthesis of prepolymer, PM was added at $40^{\circ}C$ to 1M, 2M, 3M, and 4M to inhibit the viscosity rise, and neutralization reaction and chain extension reaction were carried out to prepare polyurethane samples. According to the measurement results of the tensile strength, elongation and adhesive strength of the prepared sample, the tensile strength was 2.109 kgf / mm2 for PM 1M, 1.721kgf / mm2 for 4M, elongation was 496% for PM 1M, 522% for 4M, adhesion was 1.114 kgf / cm for PM 1M and 0.99 kgf / cm for 4M.

  • In this study, polybutadiene based di-functional urethane acrylate oligomer (PB-UAO) were synthesized from polybutadiene diol and isophorone diisocyanate. And then, pressure sensitive adhesive films were prepared by mixing with synthesized oligomer, tri-functional acrylate monomer (Tris(2-acryloyloxyethyl) isocyanurate (TAOEIC) or Trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) or Pentaerythritol triacrylate (PETA)), mono-functional acrylate monomer (Stearyl acrylate) and UV initiators. Effects of types and contents of trifunctional acrylate monomers on peel strength, tensile strength, elongation, thermal stability and water absorption property were studied. As the contents of tri-functional acrylate monomer increased, and as the molecular weight of tri-functional acrylate monomer decreased, peel strength, elongation and water absorption showed a tendency to decrease whereas tensile strength and thermal stability showed a tendency to increase.

Synthesis of UV Curable Polyurethane Adhesives Based on Various Compositions of Mixed Polyol with Improved Adhesion and Flexural Properties (다양한 조성의 혼용 폴리올에 기초한 접착력 및 굴곡성이 향상된 자외선 경화형 폴리우레탄 접착제의 합성)

  • In this study, the polyurethane acrylates (PUA) resin with good adhesive and flexibility for adhesive for shoes and clothing were synthesized using that poly(tetramethylene adiphate glycol) (PTAd), poly(tetramethylene ether glycol) (PTMG) as polyester polyol and polyether polyol respectively, including 4,4'-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI), isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), 1,4-butandiol (1,4-BD), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA) and dibutyl amine (DBA). The effect of polyol blend in the polyurethane acrylate on thermal and mechanical properties, adhesion strength and flexural strength were studied. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of PUA was confirmed in range of -70~-40 ℃. In addition, the glass transition temperature (Tg), decomposition temperature (Td), tensile strength adhesion strength and heat resistance were increased as increasing of PTAd amount while the elongation, water resistance and flexural properties were decreased. The synthesized polyurethane acrylate with 5:5 ratio of PTAd and PTMG indicated the highest adhesion strength and flexural properties.

  • Maleimide modified epoxy compounds were prepared by reacting N-(4-hydroxyphenyl) maleimide (HPM) with diglycidylether of bisphenol-A. Triphenylphosphine was used as catalyst and methylethylketone as solvent. The resulting compound possessed both the oxirane ring and maleimide group. The curing reaction of the maleimide epoxy compound with amine curing agents such as 1-(2-aminoethyl) piperazine (AEP) and 5-amino-1,3,3-trimethylcyclohexane methylamine isophorone diamine, IPDA) were studied. Incorporation of maleimide groups in the epoxy resin provides cyclic imide structure and high cross-linking density to the cured resins. The cured samples were found to have good thermal stability, chemical resistance (acid/alkali/solvent) and water absorption resistance.

  • The hardening system of polyurethanes has usually caused by air pollution. bad working condition and fire hazard according to using orgarnic solvents. Therefore there have been researched on emulsion, water soluble and colloid-dispersion based water soluble instead of using organic solvents recently. This study synthesized polyurethane dispersing particle by means of mixing precursor and neutralized emulsion method. In the first step, polyurethane was preparated from isophorone diisocyanate and poly (ethylene-adipate) glycol, and got precursor by introducing dimethyl propionic acid as a hydrophilic group. Synthesized polyurethane was bonded to the surface of fiber and crosslinked as a anti-static agent, and then looked for the change of color and softening property.

Synthesis of Polyurethane Emulsion Modified with Phosphorus Compounds (인 변성 폴리우레탄 에멀젼의 합성에 관한 연구)

  • Aqueous polyurethane dispersion was synthesized using phosphorus compound which received significant attention for the replacement of halogenated flame retardants. In this study, polyols which have phosphorus moity in their structural unit were synthesized by two-step polycondensation reaction using dimethyl phenylphosphonate, ethylene glycols. adipic acid, and 1,4-butanediol. In the next step, polyurethane dispersion was prepared using these polyols, isophorone diisocyanate with dimethyl propionic acid. The particle size of polyurethane latex was reduced from 347 nm to 240 nm with increasing DMPA content. It was observed that the LOI values of prepared coatings increased from 27% to 35% with increasing phosphorus content.

Preparation and Physical Properties of Polycaprolactone Diol-based Water-based Polyurethanes for Split Leather Coatings (스플릿 레더 코팅을 위한 폴리 카프로 락톤 디올 기반 수성 폴리 우레탄의 제조 및 물리적 특성)

  • In this study, isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and dimethylolbutanoic acid (DMBA) were used on the basis of poly caprolactone diol (3M, 3.5M, 4M, 4.5M) for the synthesis of water-based polyurethanes for coating on skin layers of leather. Tensile strength, elongation, and adhesive strength of the prepared samples were measured. As a result of measuring the tensile strength, the tensile strength was found to be 4.09 kgf / ㎟ when 3 moles were applied, and 1.071 kgf / ㎟ when 4.5 moles were applied. Elongation was 366 % when 3 moles of PCL were applied, and 709 % at 4.5 moles. Adhesive strength was 2.887 kgf / cm when 3 moles of PCL was applied and 0.998 kgf / cm when 4.5 moles were applied.

  • Poly(urethane acrylate) siloxane oligomers with Interpenetrating polymer netwoked nanoparticles were prepared to synthesize hard coating solution by reaction with diisocyanates. The diisocyanate combined siloxane hard coating solution showed more flexibility than the siloxane solution. In addition, diisocyanate resulted in improvement of curl property and surface hardness in the siloxane solution. Of the used diisocyanates, isophorone diisocyanate and acryloyloxy ethyl diisocyanate were good for UV hard coating solution. This effect will decrease brittleness in the siloxane solution using for plastic display plate.

Relationship between Structure and Properties of UV-Curable Polyurethane Acrylate Ionomers

  • A series of UV-curable polyurethane acrylate ionomer were synthesized from isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI), poly(tetramethylene ether glycol)(PTMG), 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid (CMPA), triethylamine(TEA), 2-hydroxy ethyl acrylate (HEA), and dibutyl tin dilaurate (DBT) as a catalyst. 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenyl acetophenone(DMPAP) was used as a photoinitiator. The films of UV-cured polyurethane acylate ionomer were prepared by casting the formulated materials onto a glass plate at room temperature and cured using a medium pressure mercury lamp (80 W/cm, max = 365nm). Effects of DMPA content, molecular weight of PTMG and degree of neutralization on the properties were invesigated. It is found that the storage modulus increased with increasing DMPA content. The glass transition temperature of sample A shifted to higher temperature as the content of DMPA was increased. Tensile modulus also increased with increasing DMPA content. Modulus and Tg decreased with increasing molecular weight of PTMG form 650 to 2000. With increasing the degree of nutralizaion, ionomers exhibited improved modulu.
