  • Let m be any positive integer, R be a ring with identity, $M_m(R)$ be the matrix ring of all m by m matrices eve. R and $G_m(R)$ be the multiplicative group of all n by n nonsingular matrices in $M_m(R)$. In this pape., the following are investigated: (1) for any pairwise coprime ideals ${I_1,\;I_2,\;...,\;I_n}$ in a ring R, $M_m(R/(I_1{\cap}I_2{\cap}...{\cap}I_n))$ is isomorphic to $M_m(R/I_1){\times}M_m(R/I_2){\times}...{\times}M_m(R/I_n);$ and $G_m(R/I_1){\cap}I_2{\cap}...{\cap}I_n))$ is isomorphic to $G_m(R/I_1){\times}G_m(R/I_2){\times}...{\times}G_m(R/I_n);$ (2) In particular, if R is a finite ring with identity, then the order of $G_m(R)$ can be computed.

  • Let P be a prime ideal of a commutative unital ring R; X an indeterminate; D := R/P; L the quotient field of D; F an algebraic closure of L; ${\alpha}$ ${\in}$ L[X] a monic irreducible polynomial; ${\xi}$ any root of in F; and Q = ${\alpha}$>, the upper to P with respect to ${\alpha}$. Then R[X]/Q is R-algebra isomorphic to $D[{\xi}]$; and is R-isomorphic to an overring of D if and only if deg(${\alpha}$) = 1.

  • For a k-connected inverse system $({\scr{X}},\;*)=((X_{\lambda},\;*),p_{{\lambda}{{\lambda}}^{\prime}},\;{\Lambda})$ of pointed topological spaces and pointed preserving weak fibrations, inducting epimorphic chain maps, over a directed set, we show that the homotopy group ${\pi}_k(lim{\scr{X}},\;*)$ of the inverse limit is isomorphic to the integral homology group $$H_k(lim{\scr{X}};\mathbb{Z})$. Using the result of S. $Marde{\check{s}}i{\acute{c}}$, we prove that the group of pure extension $Pext(colimH^n({\scr{X}},\;A)$ is isomorphic to the group of extension $Ext({\Delta}({\lambda}),\;Hom(H^n({\scr{X}}),\;A))$.

  • This paper deals with the problem of one-to-one mapping of 2$^n$ task modules of a parallel program to an n-dimensional hypercube multicomputer so as to minimize the total communication cost during the execution of the task. The problem of finding an optimal mapping has been proven to be NP-complete. First we show that the mapping problem in a hypercube multicomputer can be transformed into the problem of finding a set of maximum cutsets on a given task graph using a graph modification technique. Then we propose a repeated mapping scheme, using an existing graph bipartitioning algorithm, for the effective mapping of task modules onto the processors of a hypercube multicomputer. The repeated mapping scheme is shown to be highly effective on a number of test task graphs; it increasingly outperforms the greedy and recursive mapping algorithms as the number of processors increases. Our repeated mapping scheme is shown to be very effective for regular graphs, such as hypercube-isomorphic or 'almost' isomorphic graphs and meshes; it finds optimal mappings on almost all the regular task graphs considered.

  • Let G be a p-mixed abelian group with semi-complete torsion subgroup $G_t$ such that G is splitting or is of torsion-free rank one, and let R be a commutative unitary ring of prime characteristic p. It is proved that the group algebras RG and RH are R-isomorphic for any group H if and only if G and H are isomorphic. This isomorphism relationship extends our earlier results in (Southeast Asian Bull. Math., 2002), (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., 2002) and (Bull. Korean Math. Soc., 2005) as well as completely settles a problem posed by W. May in (Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., 1979).

  • In this article we study almost contact manifolds admitting weakly Einstein metrics. We first prove that if a (2n + 1)-dimensional Sasakian manifold admits a weakly Einstein metric, then its scalar curvature s satisfies -6 ⩽ s ⩽ 6 for n = 1 and -2n(2n + 1) ${\frac{4n^2-4n+3}{4n^2-4n-1}}$ ⩽ s ⩽ 2n(2n + 1) for n ⩾ 2. Secondly, for a (2n + 1)-dimensional weakly Einstein contact metric (κ, μ)-manifold with κ < 1, we prove that it is flat or is locally isomorphic to the Lie group SU(2), SL(2), or E(1, 1) for n = 1 and that for n ⩾ 2 there are no weakly Einstein metrics on contact metric (κ, μ)-manifolds with 0 < κ < 1. For κ < 0, we get a classification of weakly Einstein contact metric (κ, μ)-manifolds. Finally, it is proved that a weakly Einstein almost cosymplectic (κ, μ)-manifold with κ < 0 is locally isomorphic to a solvable non-nilpotent Lie group.

  • Recently, Lesieutre constructed a 6-dimensional projective variety X over any field of characteristic zero whose automorphism group Aut(X) is discrete but not finitely generated. As an application, he also showed that X is an example of a projective variety with infinitely many non-isomorphic real structures. On the other hand, there are also several finiteness results of real structures of projective varieties. The aim of this short paper is to give a sufficient condition for the finiteness of real structures on a projective manifold in terms of the structure of the automorphism group. To be more precise, in this paper we show that, when X is a projective manifold of any dimension≥ 2, if Aut(X) does not contain a subgroup isomorphic to the non-abelian free group ℤ ∗ ℤ, then there are only finitely many real structures on X, up to ℝ-isomorphisms.

  • Let A be a locally finite total algebra of finite type such that $k^A(a_1,\cdots,a_n)\;{\neq}\;a_i$ ai for every operation $k^A$, elements $a_1,\cdots,a_n$ an and $1\;\leq\;i\;\leq\;n$. We show that the weak subalgebra lattice of A uniquely determines its (strong) subalgebra lattice. More precisely, for any algebra B of the same finite type, if the weak subalgebra lattices of A and B are isomorphic, then their subalgebra lattices are also isomorphic. Moreover, B is also total and locally finite.

  • A graph G is self-complementary (sc) if it is isomorphic to its complement. G is perfect if for all induced subgraphs H of G, the chromatic number of H (denoted ${\chi}$(H)) equals the number of vertices in the largest clique in H (denoted ${\omega}$(H)). An sc graph which is also perfect is known as sc perfect graph. A comparability graph is an undirected graph if it can be oriented into transitive directed graph. An sc comparability (scc) is clearly a subclass of sc perfect graph. In this paper we show that no two non-isomorphic scc graphs with n vertices each, (n<13) have same spectrum, and that the smallest positive integer for which there exists hyper-energetic scc graph is 13.

  • Let R be a ommutative ring with unity and F a finite free R-module. For a nonnegative integer r, there exists a natural filtration of$S_r(S_2F)$ such that its associated graded module is isomorphic to $\Sigma_{{\lambda}{\epsilon}{\tau}_r}\;L_{\lambda}F$, where ${\Gamma}_{\gamma}$ set of partitions such that $$\mid${\lambda}$\mid$-2r,{{\widetilde}{\lambda}}-{{\widetilde}{\lambda}}_1},...,{{\widetilde}{\lambda}}_k},\;each\;{{\widetilde}{\lambda}}_t}$,is even. We call such filtrations plethysm formulas. We extend the above plethysm formula to the version of chain complexes. By plethysm formula we mean the composition of universally free functors. $Let{\emptyset}:G->F$ be a morphism of finite free R-modules. We construct the natural decomposition of $S_{r}(S_2{\emptyset})$,up to filtrations, whose associated graded complex is isomorphic to ${\Sigma}_{{\lambda}{\varepsilon}{\tau}}_r}\;L_{\lambda}{\emptyset}$.
