  • The primary objective of this study is to develop the new equation that can predict the flexural strength of irregular walls by applying the concept of the effective width which is used in current codes. Results obtained from this data analysis are as follows : 1. It is conservative to use PCI provision and ACI code as the effective width for evaluating the flexural capacity of irregular walls 2. The result of this study shows that the Paulay & Priestley's proposition is available for more exactly and safely predicting flexural capacity of irregular walls throughout a reduction factor.

정상 노인의 연령에 따른 철자 산출 특성 (Characteristics of Orthographic Retrieval with Age in the Elderly)

  • Many studies have reported an age-related decline in the ability to spell words correctly. The aim of this study was to investigate the deterioration on retrieving orthographic knowledge in 64 normal elderly Korean persons. The subjects were 64 in total: they were composed of 22 persons in their 50s, 20 persons in their 60s, and 22 persons in their 70s or older. We instructed them to write from a dictation of 60 words stimuli (20 regular words, 20 irregular words, 20 nonwords). Older adults made more errors than younger adults, and the age-related decline in performance was greater for irregular than regular and nonwords. With respect to the error pattern in the irregular words, the subjects showed more phonological plausible errors than phonological implausible errors. The number of self-correction was high in nonwords. Based on the results, we found that aging differentially affects the retrieval of orthographic knowledge on regular, irregular and nonwords.

  • A brake spider in an irregular shape, which is used as a part in the braking system of a vehicle like a big truck and a trailer, is subjected to a large torque and hence requires both strength and endurance over the brake heat. Manufacture of this product in practice is generally composed of hot forging processes and machining. At the present study, two or more processes were considered for the hot forging. With an initial circular billet, blocker and finisher processes were analyzed using the rigid-plastic finite element method and also in addition to the preforming process. Proper forging processes to manufacture an irregular product without forging defects, which are preforming, blocker and finisher, were discussed and commented upon.

다방향 불규칙파중의 인장계류식 해양구조물의 시간영역 해석 (Time Domain Analysis of a Tension Leg Platform in Multi-Directional Irregular Waves)

  • The main object of this study is to develop an accurate and convenient method for the response analysis of offshore structures in real sea states. A numerical procedure is described for predicting the motion responses and tension variations of the ISSC TLP in multi-directional irregular waves. The developed numerical approach in the frequency domain is based on acombination of the three dimensional source distribution method, the dynamic response analysis method, and the spectral analysis method. Frequency domain analysis in the multi-directional irregular waves is expanded to a time domain analysis by using a convolution integral after obtaining the impulse response by Fourier transformation. The results of the comparison between responses in the frequency and time domain confirmed the validity of the proposed approach.

  • 불규칙 파낭이 갖는 중요한 특성 중의 하나인 파군특성을 파낭 연이음개염과 에너지 이역 개념을 이용하여 해석하였다. 일정한 주기와 파고를 가지고 임의로 발생시킨 규칙파군에 적용하여 파군에 대한 기초적 특성을 파악한 후, 동해안에서 관측된 불규칙 파랑의 파군특성을 해석하였다. 불규칙 파낭의 파군특성을 정확히 해석하기 위해서는 기존의 스펙트럼 해석뿐만 아니라 파낭 연이음개념 및 에너지 이역개염을 함께 검토하여야 한다.

  • 이 연구는 우리나라 학교도서관 비정규직 인력 문제에 대해 구조적인 관점으로 살펴보고 정리하였다. 비정규적 인력이 확대된 배경과 계기를 살펴보고 비정규직 인력의 직무상 주요 문제점들을 검토하였다. 그리고 비정규직 인력 문제의 표면과 이면의 내용과 구조를 체계적으로 탐구하여 문제의 성격과 내적 갈등 양상을 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로 현재 제안되거나 진행되고 있는 비정규직 인력 문제의 해결 방안에 대해 점검하고 문제 해결을 위해 요청되는 기본적인 자세를 제안하였다.

스트레스가 남녀 고등학생의 식행동에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Stress on Eating Behavior of High School Boys & Girls)

  • The objectives of this study were to survey stress, eating behavior, and the influences of stress on eating behavior of high school boys and girls. The subjects of this study were 510 high school students(boys 240, girls 270) in Cheongju area. The questionaires were distributed to 510 students, self-evaluated and collected from Mar. 23 to Apr. 4, 1998. The results of this study were as follows: First, the third grade students of high school were suffering from many stress. The rate of such students was 33.9% of total students. Second, eating problems of students were unbalanced diet, irregular diet, omitting a meal. The most irregular meal was breakfast, especially girl students ate breakfast more irregular than boy students. Third, the higher the level of stress of stress of the students, the more eating problem existed. The more students met with stress, the more eating behavior was irregular in eating quantity. In conclusion, stress influences eating behavior of high school students negatively. Therefore, to improve eating behavior of students who are suffering from stress, the program on stress release and nutrition education should be developed and supplied to them.

추사파중을 항행하는 선박의 자동조타 시스템 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Automatic Steering System of Ships in Folowing Seas)

  • In the present study, irregular disturbances to ship dynamics is proposed, where irregular disturbances implying irregular wave and the fluctuating component of wind for the evaluation of automatic steering system of ship in following seas. Prediction method based on the principle of linear superposition. Irregular wave disturbances in following seas is calculated by frequency variation method. The mathematical model of each element of an automatic steering system is derived, which takes account of a few non-linear mechanisms. PD(Proportional-Derivative) controller and low-pass filter with a weather adjustment are adopted to modelling the characteristics of an autopilot. Performance index is introduced from the viewpoint of energy saving, which derived from the concept of energy loss on ship propulsion. Finally, the present methods are applied to two typical types of ship ; an ore carrier and a fishing boat. The various effects of control constants of autopilot on propulsive energy loss are investigated

Optimized Geometric LDPC Codes with Quasi-Cyclic Structure

  • This paper presents methods to the construction of regular and irregular low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes based on Euclidean geometries over the Galois field. Codes constructed by these methods have quasi-cyclic (QC) structure and large girth. By decomposing hyperplanes in Euclidean geometry, the proposed irregular LDPC codes have flexible column/row weights. Therefore, the degree distributions of proposed irregular LDPC codes can be optimized by technologies like the curve fitting in the extrinsic information transfer (EXIT) charts. Simulation results show that the proposed codes perform very well with an iterative decoding over the AWGN channel.
