  • The electrical property of polyvinylalcohol (PVA) films (several hundreds ∼ several $\mu\textrm{m}$ in thickness) formed by sphere bulb blowing technique, has been studied. The electrical conductivity of relatively thick films (>several thousands ) has been very high and enhanced by the exposure either to high humidity fo air or NH$_3$. which can be explained in terms of the role of ionic transport. The use of PVA film as NH$_3$ sensor is also proposed. In PVA films less than 1500 , two conducting states: high conducting and low conducting states, are observed.

이온성 액체를 이용한 dodecanethiol로 안정화된 금속 나노입자 합성 (Synthesis of Dodecanethiol-Capped Nanoparticles Using Ionic Liquids)

  • 가장 널리 이용되고 있는 금속나노입자 중 금과 은을 친환경용매인 RTILs (room temperature ionic liquids)를 이용하여 제조하고자 하였다. 본연구에서는 두 종류의 이온성 액체, 즉 비수용성인 [BMIM][$PF_6$] (1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate)과 수용성인 [BMIM][Cl](1-Buthy-3-methylimdazolium chloride)를 이용하여 리간드로 안정화된 금속 나노입자를 제조하고자 하였다. 이 중 [BMIM][Cl]은 논연구에서 Dupont 등의 방법으로 직접 합성하여 물성 분석 후 사용하였으며, [BMIM][$PF_6$]은 완제품을 구입하여 사용하였다. 금과 은의 나노입자들을 습식으로 제조하는 경우의 Brust et al.[6]의 방법이 널리 알려져 있으며, 본 연구에서도 이를 기초로 하여 나노입자를 제조하였다. [BMIM][$PF_6$]로 나노입자 제조시는 이 용매가 물에 녹지 않으므로 기본적으로는 유기용매 대신 [BMIM][$PF_6$]를 사용하는 것 외에는 Brust 등과 같은 방법제조하였다. [BMIM][Cl]로 나노입자를 제조하는 경우는 이 용매가 수용성이므로 상전이제와 ethanol은 사용하지 않고 입자를 제조하였다. 이렇게 얻어진 나노입자들의 경우 [BMIM][$PF_6$]로 합성한 경우는 FT-IR, UV-vis, TEM 그리고 TGA 분석을 통하여 Brust 등이 합성한 경우와 유사한 결과를 얻었지만, [BMIM][Cl]의 경우는 형태학적으로 다른 나노입자를 얻었다. 기존의 나노입자를 제조하는 과정에서 이용되는 유기용매를 이용하는 방법을 그린용매인 이온성 액체로 대체할 수 있다는 가능성을 확인할 수 있었고, 이온성 액체의 특성에 따라서 형태학적으로 다른 입자를 얻을 수 있었으나, 이 부분은 추후 더 많은 연구가 필요하다.

전도성 네피온필름-금 전극층 액츄에이터에 관한 연구 (Study of a Conducting Nafion Film-Gold Electrode Actuator)

  • For conventional electrical actuators, the materials are mainly made up of metals, which mean they are prone to corrosion and electrical sparking. Replacing these systems with polymer metal composite based materials can be solved both problems. Considering their excellent electromechanical property, low device fabrication cost, light weight, and good electrical conductivity, the actuator based on ionic polymer metal composite (IPMC) was fabricated using Nafion film, NaOH 0.1 molar solution, and Au electrode. IPMCs exhibit good electrostatic property which means they can in principle be used in making actuators based on electromechanical motions. The resistance measurements of Nafion film after soaking in NaOH and deionized water were demonstrated and compared each other. The result of sample soaked in NaOH showed better electrical conductivity than in deionized water. The fabricated IPMC actuator exhibits a large deformation of bending displacement of approximately 9 mm with applied low AC voltage 6.89 V at 2.84 Hz. The result of computer simulation was also very similar and shown as a bending displacement of 8.6085 mm.

BaTiO3 세라믹 내 희토류(Dy, Y, Ho) 첨가 효과 (The Doping Effects of Intermediate Rare-earth Ions (Dy, Y and Ho) on BaTiO3 Ceramics)

  • The electrical property and microstructure in $BaTiO_3$ ceramics doped rare-earth ions with intermediate ionic size ($Dy^{3+},Ho^{3+},Y^{3+}$) were investigated. Microstructures have been characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Incorporation of rare-earth ions to $BaTiO_3$ ceramics depended on their ionic radius sensitively. Compared to Ho and Y ions, Dy ions provide $BaTiO_3$ ceramics with the high rate of densification and well-developed shell formation, due to their high solubility in the $BaTiO_3$ lattice, but the microstructure of Dy doped $BaTiO_3$ ceramics is unstable at high temperature, because Dy ions could not play a role of grain growth inhibition, leading to diffuse into $BaTiO_3$ lattice continuously after completion of densification during sintering. Comparing electrical property and microstructure, it is shown that the reliability of capacitor improved by high shell ratio.

Carboxylic acid와 nano zinc oxide를 도입한 열가소성 폴리우레탄 탄성체의 슬립특성 및 기계적 물성에 관한 연구 (Studies on Slip and Mechanical Properties of Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomer with Carboxylic acid and Nano zinc oxide)

  • 산성기를 도입한 폴리우레탄에 나노산화아연을 첨가하여 열가소성 폴리우레탄 탄성체를 합성하였으며, 합성된 폴리우레탄 탄성체의 기계적물성, 열적특성, 접촉각, 그립특성을 평가하였다. 그리고 산화아연의 함량과 입자 크기가 폴리우레탄 탄성체에 미치는 영향에 대해서 연구하였다. 나노산화아연을 도입한 경우 이온결합이 형성되어 산성기에 의한 수소결합과 동시에 작용하기 때문에 인장강도, 마모 등 기계적 물성 및 그립특성이 향상되는 것이 확인되었다. 폴리우레탄내의 산화아연 함량에 따른 물성평가 결과 나노산화아연 함량이 증가할수록 이온결합 도입에 의한 친수성이 커져서 wet slip이 지속적으로 상승되었으며, 기계적 물성은 산화아연에 의한 이온화율 50%까지 향상되다가 그 이후에는 감소되는 현상을 나타내었다.

폴리스티렌 이오노머의 열적·유변학적 성질에 미치는 스테아린산 아연의 영향 (Effects of Zinc Stearates on the Thermal and Rheological Properties of Polystyrene Ionomers)

  • 괴상 중합과 현탁 중합 및 수산화나트륨을 이용한 중화를 통하여 제조된 poly(styrene-co-sodium methacrylate) 이오노머의 가소제로 스테아린산 아연을 첨가하여 열적 성질과 유변학적 성질에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 이오노머 중 스테아린산 아연은 이온기 함량에 따라 부분적으로 결정화가 억제됨이 관찰되었다. 이오노머 중 이온기들은 스테아린산 아연을 용해시키고 결정화를 억제하는 것으로 판단되었으며, 이온기 1몰이 0.4~0.6몰의 스테아린산 아연을 용해시키는 것으로 추정할 수 있었다. 용해된 형태의 스테아린산 아연만을 포함한 이오노머는 Cox-Merz 플롯에서 전형적인 균일계의 유변학적 거동을 보였다. 그러나 용해된 스테아린산 아연뿐 아니라 결정성 스테아린산 아연을 포함한 이오노머들은 Cox-Merz 플롯에서 불균일계의유변학적 거동을 보였다.

음이온교환막 연료전지를 위한 TiO2 함량 조절에 따른 QPAE/TiO2-x 복합막의 치수안정성 및 이온전도도 동시 개선 연구 (Simultaneous Improvement of Dimensional Stability and Ionic Conductivity of QPAE/TiO2-x Composite Membranes According to TiO2 Content Control for Anion Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells)

  • A series of QPAE/TiO2-x (x = 1, 4, 7 and 10 wt%) organic/inorganic composite membranes were prepared as electrolyte membranes for alkaline anion exchange membrane fuel cells by controlling the content of inorganic filler with quaternized poly(arylene ether) (QPAE) random copolymer. Among the prepared QPAE/TiO2-x organic/inorganic composite membranes, the highest ionic conductivity was 26.6 mS cm-1 at 30℃ in QPAE/TiO2-7 composite membrane, which was improvement over the ionic conductivity value of 6.4 mS cm-1 (at 30℃) of the pristine QPAE membrane. Furthermore, the water uptake, swelling ratio, ionic exchange capacity, and thermal property of QPAE/TiO2-x composite membranes were improved compared to the pristine QPAE membrane. The results of these studies suggest that the fabricated QPAE/TiO2-x composite membranes have good prospects for alkaline anion exchange membrane fuel cell applications.

Sulfur Tolerance Effects on Sr0.92Y0.08Ti0.5Fe0.5O3-δ as an Alternative Anode in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

  • $Sr_{0.92}Y_{0.08}Ti_{0.5}Fe_{0.5}O_{3-{\delta}}$ (SYTF0.5) is investigated as an alternative anode in $H_2$ fuels containing $H_2S$ (0-200 ppm). Although additional ionic conductivity is introduced by aliovalent substitution of $Ti^{4+}$ by $Fe^{3+}$ in the B-site, the SYTF0.5 has lower electrical conductivity than that of the $Sr_{0.92}Y_{0.08}TiO_{3-{\delta}}$. Due to the mixed ionic and electronic conductive (MIEC) property exhibited in the SYTF0.5 anode, the electrochemical performance of the SYTF0.5 anode is improved, as well as the sulfur tolerance. The maximum power densities in $H_2$ at $900^{\circ}C$ for the SYT anode and the SYTF0.5 anode were 56.9 and $98.6mW/cm^2$, respectively. The maximum power density in the SYTF0.5 anode at 200 ppm of $H_2S$ concentration decreased by only 12.9% (86.3 to $75.2mW/cm^2$).

유용성 몰리부덴 화합물의 산화방지기능에 관한 연구 (Anti-Oxidation Property of Organo-Molybdenum Dialkyldithiophosphate)

  • ln this paper, the fuction of molybdenum dialkyl dithiophosphate (MoDTP) as an oxidation inhibitor of mineral oils was investigated and compared with 2,6-Di-tert-Butyl-4-Methylphenol (DBMP). Oxidation tests were conducted using an oxygen absorption apparatus. MoDTP showed anti-oxidation property, and length of induction time prolonged by increasing MoDTP concentration. However the induction time of DBMP was longer than those of MoDTP. The anti-oxidation property of MoDTP was found to be inferior to that of DBMP The capability of hydroperoxide decomposition ability with MoDTP was much greater than that with DBMP. However the rate constant of radical scavenging with MoDTP was much better than that with DBMP. It was found that the performance of MoDTP is exellent with respect to hydroperoxide decomposition but it is susceptible to chemical decomposition. From the fact that formation of phenol was observed when MoDTP was added to hexane solution of cumene hydroperoxide (CHPO), it is indicated that the decomposition of hydroperoxide with MoDTP occurs by means of ionic mechanism.

Preparation and Characterization of the Asymmetric Microporous Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) Blend Membranes with Hydrophilic Surfaces

  • To prepare chemically stable asymmetric microporous membranes with a hydrophilic surface, which would be expected to have better antifouling properties, poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) blend membranes were prepared by the phase inversion process. PVDF mixture solutions in N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) blended with several polar potential ionic polymers such as polyacrylonitrile (PAN), poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (NIPAM) were used for the formation of the PVDF blend membranes. They were then characterized with several analytical methods such as FESEM, FTIR, contact angle measurement, pore size distribution and permeability measurement. Regardless of different polar polymers blended, they all showed a finger-like structure with more hydrophilic surface than the pristine PVDF membrane. For all the PVDF blend membrane, due to the polar potential ionic polymers used, the flux of those was improved. Especially the PVDF blend membrane with NIPAM showed the highest flux among the membranes prepared. Also antifouling property of the PVDF membrane was improved by the use of the polar polymers.
