Robust investment model for long range capacity expansion of chemical processing networks using two-stage algorithm

  • The problem of long range capacity expansion planing for chemical processing network under uncertain demand forecast secnarios is addressed. This optimization problem involves capactiy expansion timing and sizing of each chemical processing unit to maximize the expected net present value considering the deviation of net present values and the excess capacity over a given time horizon. A multiperiod mixed integer nonlinear programming optimization model that is both solution and modle robust for any realization of demand scenarios is developed using the two-stage stochastic programming algorithm. Two example problems are considered to illustrate the effectiveness of the model.

  • An employee employment of Enterprise must consider efficiency, balance attribute and effectiveness as important variable. but Our country's Enterprise reduce the personnel without basic guide line about employee employment. because Our country's Enterprise thinks of personnel expenses or sales amount decrease as important variable. Therefore, Research background sets out that there is no basic guideline for employment management one of the most important elements in Enterprise administration. and I examined employment control's concept and concept about softness of labor market in theoretical background setting. Also, was abreast of employment control effect, case study and literature research about employment control's basis. Finally, In fluctuation change of Enterprise's employee number, I examined which relation is formed in comparison with sales amount, net profit and the employee number of individual Enterprise using investment analysis material of Stock Company focused on Enterprise that stock is listed on the stock exchange.

  • A method of optimum design of an axial rotary sensible heat exchanger for the heat recovery of exhaust gas from the air conditioning space was developed in consideration of economics of investment cost and profit according to the installation of heat exchangers. Leakage rate of exhaust gas was calculated and the correlation for the pressure drop due to leakage of exhaust gas was proposed. Heat transfer between the matrix and exhaust and intake gas was analysed to calculate the effectiveness of heat exchanger, which was used for the optimum design of rotary heat exchanger. The results show that optimum rotational speed increases as the length of rotor increases and there exists optimum NTU which maximizes the gain of total cost according to the installation of rotary heat exchanger.

  • This paper Presents a heuristic algorithm based on branch exchange method to solve ORP (Optimal Routing Problem) for distribution system planning. The ORP is a complex task which is generally formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem with various constraints. The cost function of ORP is consisted of the investment cost and the system operation cost that is generally expressed with system power loss. This paper also adopt an specialy designed selection method of maximum loss reduction loop and branch to reduce optimization time. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm was shown with 32, 69 bus example system.

  • The level of reliability attained largely depends upon the investment in reliability growth programs during development phase. In order to find the relationship between reliability growth test time and BRTE(basic reliability tasks effectiveness) in a reliability improvement program that minimizes LCC in which contains the reliability growth cost, repair and replacement costs, and spare parts ordering costs in service with given service rate in management policy, the growth rate has been suggested proper LCC versus growth rate. This model employs the reliability growth projection with delayed fixes in avionic equipment based on AMSAA.

  • Currently, advanced countries such as European countries and Japan invest lots of efforts to develop improvement of electric power production and supply, environmental countermeasure, and renewable energy development. Accordingly, Korea has been putting efforts to all kinds of electric related technical development based on the mid-long term plan. Further, it is necessary to increase effectiveness of R&D investment by propelling joint research activities with advanced countries for development of important technologies. Based on this background, this study tries to find thought-provoking suggestions of energy projects, programs and policies. For a comparative analysis, Japan which is similar to Korea in terms of market size and policies, and EU where joint research has been actively carried out among nations are analyzed and compared to policies and joint R&D activities of Korea.

  • The recent technological and industrial revolution dictates a new approach in constructing Korean Information Infrastructure. Lacking past data on the newly emerging markets, econometrics methodologies cannot accurately forecast future path of advanced networks, let alone dynamic impacts of public policies. In this paper, we have built a system dynamics model of the Korean Information Infrastructure and simulated diverse policy measures including market integration and government initiative in investment for experimenting their effectiveness. The most counterintuitive result of our research is that the market integration policy will facilitate CATV networks at an early stage until the year 2010, but will result in a diminished market size in the long run. With the system dynamics approach, we can enhance our understanding of the complex policy systems and get valuable insights through learning by modeling and simulation.

  • Recently the role of a railroad is emphasized as the imprortant part for growth for the low carbon green growth and the social consensus about the railroad investment is actively progressed. The various social economic value in which the travel demand change over of the environment-friendly railroad system can bring becomes with public debate as much as a discussion is not any more necessary. In this research, the influence that it recognized that the travel time improvement by the high speed rail was the most important element among many method that it can increase the railroad use efficiency in which it connects the interregional major cities and the railway travel time improvement reaches to the rate of railway and road travel time, and the environment like the carbon emission quantity was comprehensively inquired.

도시철도 표준화 연구개발사업의 경제성 분석 (Economic Analysis for Standardization R&D of Urban Rail System)

  • This study is to estimate economic benefits of Standardization R&D of Urban Rail System. Benefit was to be realized through standardization of main areas such as train vehicle, railway, power system, and signal system. To derive and calculate the quantitative benefit, the sources of economic impact was divided into three dimensions -operational cost savings, import substitution, and safety effects. Economic effect of the standardization was categorized based on a modified BSC model. Economic benefits from time and labor savings are converted into cost savings. Import substitution and investment multiplier effect have a positive impact in addition to cost savings. The estimation of the standardization R&D of Urban Rail System was conservatively estimated 370 billion Won. Cost effectiveness of standardized safety system was conservatively translated into economic benefit in this analysis. This study provides a practical guide to economic evaluation of the various railway R&D projects.

자연광 다층 작물재배를 위한 광선반 시스템에 관한 연구 (Exploration of a Light Shelf System for Multi-Layered Vegetable Cultivation)

  • This study is to eliminate the need for conventional high density plant factory's artificial light source such as LED to reduce the initial investment of the light source installation as well as the operation cost. Use of solar light could enhance the quality of the vegetables similar to those grown in the natural environment. Provision of solar light into the multilayer vegetable cultivation facilities and collecting maximum and sustainable sunlight without too much loss by tracing solar path and properly distributing it through careful control during daytime are crucial for realizing the investigated rooftop light shelf system for multi-layered vegetable cultivation. In this study, we developed an innovative way of effectively allocating sunlight inside even to otherwise shaded zone of a multi-layer vegetable cultivation facility. To prove the effectiveness of the system's sunlight collection and distribution capability, both simulation and experiment in Daejeon are performed and the outcome is analyzed.
