  • This paper explores the power distribution problem of parallel-connected inverter system which supplies auxiliary power for railway facilities. We propose a droop control method which facilities power distribution and restrain of voltage drop by tracking the average power control command by adjusting the virtual impedance. The performance of proposed droop method is verified by the PSIM simulation.

  • 모델 예측전류제어 과정에서 공통모드전압을 저감 하기 위한 기존연구방안들이 제시되어 왔지만 두 상의 스위치 함수가 변동하는 데드 타임 구간이나 영 전압벡터 두 가지를 모두 저감시키지는 못하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 모델예측전류제어는 영 전압벡터와 데드 타임에서의 공통모드전압을 고려하여 H8 인버터시스템에서 공통모드전압을 저감하였을 뿐만 아니라 영 전압 벡터 사용으로 인한 THD도 개선하였다. 모델예측전류제어를 적용한 H8 인버터 시스템의 공통모드전압의 저감과 출력전류 THD 개선을 시뮬레이션을 통해 증명하였다.

Double-Objective Finite Control Set Model-Free Predictive Control with DSVM for PMSM Drives

  • Discrete space vector modulation (DSVM) is an effective method to improve the steady-state performance of the finite control set predictive control for permanent magnet synchronous motor drive systems. However, it requires complex computations due to the presence of numerous virtual voltage vectors. This paper proposes an improved finite control set model-free predictive control using DSVM to reduce the computational burden. First, model-free deadbeat current control is used to generate the reference voltage vector. Then, based on the principle that the voltage vector closest to the reference voltage vector minimizes the cost function, the optimal voltage vector is obtained in an effective way which avoids evaluation of the cost function. Additionally, in order to implement double-objective control, a two-level decisional cost function is designed to sequentially reduce the stator currents tracking error and the inverter switching frequency. The effectiveness of the proposed control is validated based on experimental tests.

  • This study proposed a reactive power variation (RPV) method equipped with positive feedback (PF) for detecting the islanding operation of distributed generation systems. The proposed RPV consists of the constant reactive power component and a certain reactive power term and uses the frequency deviation between the rated and the measured frequencies. The constant reactive power is injected from distributed generation system and power factor is to 0.9975 in grid-connected operation. PF is activated from generation of the frequency deviation and the injected reactive power is continuously increased due to PF when islanding occurs. Consequently, the increasing reactive power causes the point of common coupling frequency to deviate from the maximum/minimum threshold level. Performance of the proposed RPV is verified in a 1.7 kW T-type inverter, and the detection times are 53 and 150 ms.

  • This paper proposes a method for selecting the capacitance of DC-link capacitors of inverters. In general, the DC-link capacitance of the inverter system must be considered for DC-link voltage, ripple current, switching frequency, ripple voltage, and pulse-width modulation techniques. Therefore, the appropriate capacitance can be determined by finding the rms and peak values of the ripple current of the capacitor. In this paper, the process of extracting the ripple current of DC-link capacitor is described in detail. In addition, the simple method for finding DC-link capacitor capacitance using the result value is presented through the simulations.

  • With the aim to maximize the use of a given voltage source in the field of railway and electric vehicles, this study applies a technique for controlling the overmodulation region between the linear and the six-step regions. High linearity overmodulation techniques that do not use look-up table (LUT) to digital signal processor (DSP) using carrier based pulse width modulation (PWM) are proposed. Such technique requires the phase of the voltage vector at the point where the circular trajectory of the voltage command vector and hexagonal cross each other. Therefore, a method is proposed to obtain a phase of a voltage vector that is derived through an equation and applied to a carrier-based PWM. Validity of the proposed implementation method is confirmed through simulation and experiment.

  • Recent trend of increasing automated factories needs supply of high quality power from the utilities. Among the items of the power quality, voltage sag can be compensated by Dynamic Voltage Restorer(DVR). The key feature of the DVR is high response with less transient period to recover from the voltage sag due to the lightning or line-to-ground faults. In this paper we report that H controller is very premising for the practical application to the controller of DVR. Experiment al results shown in this paper was obtained by applying the control algorithm to 20 kVA DVR system.   • This study conducted a study on a small-capacity PCS using lithium-ion batteries used in personal mobility. Most of the batteries in Personal Mobility only charge with external chargers and are used only as mobile energy sources. However, this paper aims to charge the battery of PM using PV and system power or to use the charged power as a stand-alone power supply. The developed PCS can be operated as a two-channel battery charger/discharger, a battery charger using solar power, and a stand-alone solar inverter depending on the operation method. The validity of the manufactured small-capacity PCS was verified through experiments.

An Accurate Design Method of Wideband BPF Considering Frequency Dependence of Inverters

  • This paper presents a design method for a wideband bandpass filter (BPF) which compensates for frequency dependency based on the image admittance and image phase. In the proposed method, new compensation methods for the admittance and phase are integrated with the conventional method. The proposed method improves the frequency shift and reduces the unwanted bandwidth when designing more than 20% of the Fractional Bandwidth (FBW), whereas the conventional method exhibits frequency degradation at only 10% FBW. The proposed design theory was verified by applying it to both lumped elements and distributed lines through circuit simulation and measurements without an optimization process. The measurement results demonstrate improvements in the frequency shift and target bandwidth. In the future, an accurate design method based on frequency dependence can be implemented for the next-generation broadband communication system applications.

Performance Evaluation and Technical Development of Eco-environmental Photovoltaic Leisure Ship with Sail-controlling Device With Respect to Solar-Hybrid Generating System (풍력 Sail 돛 제어장치를 이용한 친환경 태양광 레져보트의 하이브리드 발전시스템 관련 성능평가에 대한 연구)

  • As a new technical approach, an attempt was made to realize a photovoltaic system for an eco-environmental leisure ship by simultaneously actuating nine photovoltaic solar panels in association with the application of a sail-controlling system using wind energy. In this approach, the photovoltaic system consisted of a solar module, an inverter, a battery, and the relevant components, while the sail-controlling device was equipped with sail up/down and mast turning systems. The previously mentioned eco-environmental leisure ship utilizes a photovoltaic hybrid system that uses solar and wind energy as renewable energy sources. Furthermore, this research included a performance evaluation of the manufactured prototype, the acquisition of the purposed quantity values, and development of the purposed items. The significant items, including the sail up/down speed (seconds) and mast turning angle (degrees) were evaluated for a performance test. A wind direction sensitivity of 90% and maximum instant charging power of 900 W were also obtained in the process of the performance evaluation. In addition, the maximum sail time was also evaluated in order to acquire the optimum value. The performance evaluation showed that the prototype with a photovoltaic hybrid system was suitable for sailing an eco-environmental leisure ship using solar and wind energy.
