  • Since microgravity survey aims to delineate subsurface density structures in small scale, it requires inversion method, which is able to resolve small scale structures. It can be achieved by adopting a stabilizing functional which separates density boundary distinctly, which is different concept from general inversion routines. We composed Matlab-based interactive two-dimensional microgravity data inversion package containing several kinds of inversion routines with different stabilizing functional, for handling various geologic conditions and survey purposes. Different kinds of inversion routines in the package were verified and examined with representative synthetic data sets generated by numerical modeling. In addition, we applied the developed package to a real microgravity survey data.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between strength balance and joint position sense related to the ankle joint in healthy women. Methods: Twenty-six healthy women were recruited. Isokinetic strength and joint position sense (JPS) were measured using a Biodex System 4 pro Dynamometer and a Biodex Advantage Software Package. Prior to measuring the JPS and isokinetic strength, the dominant foot was determined according to the Waterloo Footedness Questionnaire. After the JPS test, isokinetic strength was evaluated in velocity $60^{\circ}s$, including practice trial ($90^{\circ}s$). Using the measured isokinetic strength, a Strength Balance Index (SBI) was calculated. Results: Relative to the SBI, the degree of imbalance was varied; but there were imbalances. For each starting position, JPS error showed no significant differences (p>0.05). The relationship between SBI and JPS was found during the inversion to eversion process, eversion to inversion, and dorsi flexion to plantar flexion. Conclusion: There are moderate to mild relationships between JPS and SBI during ankle movement. It is suggested that to prevent ankle injuries, strength balance should be considered along with the other potential factors including anatomical alignment, proprioception, and soft tissues problems.

  • This paper takes aim at the reliability evaluation by application of Fault Tree Analysis and its computerization. FTA is one of the methods for evaluation of system reliability and safety analysis. The important characteristic of this paper is that computer program is written in the package program(dBaseIII+) by 16Bit/AT personal computer. The program consists of three program segments. (1) The minimal cut sets of the system fault tree are obtained by means of "Fault tree reduction algorithm" (2) The minimal path sets are obtained by inversion of the minimal cut sets determined from fault tree (3) The importance of the basic events which are presented in the minimal cut sets is obtained by means of structural importance analysis. In this paper, a Fault Tree Analysis is applied to a BAG FILTER which is a kind of dust collector.collector.

  • In this study, we compared the clinical usefulness of SPAIR (Spectral Adiabatic Inversion Recovery) and STIR (Short TI Inversion Recovery) to evaluate the fat tissues precisely. The images of brain axial (n = 20), lumber spine sagittal (n = 20), hip joint coronal (n = 17) and knee joint (n = 25) were obtained by turbo spin echo T2 weighted method on 3T magnetic resonance image. The signal intensity (SI) values were measured using region of interest in fat, muscle tissue, and background noise. The inhomogeneity values were measured using the standard deviation (SD) value divided by the mean values. SD signifies the amount of error which is similar to the imaging heterogeneity. In brain axial images, the SPAIR showed more superior SI and inhomogeneity results than the STIR. In spine, hip and knee images, STIR showed more excellent SI results, but poor inhomogeneity than the SPAIR.

  • The visual analysis of buried channel (Be) devices such as buried channel MOSFETs and CCDs (Charge Coupled Devices) is investigated to give better understanding and insight for their electrical behaviours using a 3-dimensional (3-D) numerical simulation. This paper clearly demonstrates the capability of the numerical simulation of 'EVEREST' for characterising the analysis of a depletion mode MOSFET and BC CCD, which is a simulation software package of the semiconductor device. The inverse threshold and punch-through voltages obtained from the simulations showed an excellent agreement with those from the measurement involving errors of within approximately 1.8% and 6%, respectively, leading to the channel implanted doping profile of only approximately $4{\sim}5%$ error. For simulation of a buried channel CCD an advanced adaptive discretising technique was used to provide more accurate analysis for the potential barrier height between two channels and depletion depth of a deep depletion CCD, thereby reducing the CPU running time and computer storage requirements. The simulated result for the depletion depth also showed good agreement with the measurement. Thus, the results obtained from this simulation can be employed as the input data of a circuit simulator.

  • Some soluble species may not be solubility-limited or congruent-released with the matrix species. For example, during the operation of the nuclear reactor, the fission products can be accumulated in the fuel-cladding gap, voids, and grain boundaries of the fuel rods. In the waste package for spent-fuel placed in a geologic repository, the high solubility species of these fission products accumulated in the“gap”, e.g. cesium or iodine are expected to dissolve rapidly when ground water penetrates fuel rods. The time and space dependent mass transport for high solubility nuclides in the gap is analyzed, and its numerical illustrations are demonstrated. The approximate solution that is valid for all times is developed, and validated by comparison with an asymptotic solution and the solution obtained by the numerical inversion of Laplace transform covering the entire time span.

  • The study was performed to elucidate the effects of ethylene-absorbent on the quality of 'Fuyu' persimmon fruits in the MA package. Five persimmons were packed in a MA package film (low density polyethylene, 0.055 mm film thickness), and stored at $-0.5^{\circ}C$ for 60 days. Two persimmons were repacked in a MA package with or without ethylene absorbent $(1\;M\;KMnO_4+zeolite)$ and stored at $-0.5^{\circ}C$. Ten days later, these packages was moved to $2^{\circ}C$ or $25^{\circ}C$ storage room to examine the effect of the ethylene-absorbent on the quality of the fruits. Ethylene removal by enclosed ethylene absorbent in MA packaging reduced the rate of fruit respiration at $25^{\circ}C$, so that $O_2$ and $CO_2$ concentration in packing were maintained higher and lower, respectively, compared to control. These effects were not observed, however, in $2^{\circ}C$ post-storage. Fruit firmness and sugar composition were also influenced by ethylene absorbent, showing more delayed flesh softening and higher sucrose concentration in ethylene absorbent treated fruits than control. But ethylene-absorbent treatment lowered glucose and fructose concentration. That shows that ethylene could influence on sugar composition by inhibiting sucrose inversion to glucose and fructose. The production of ethanol and acetaldehyde was reduced by ethylene removal, but the effect was not so high as other quality indices.
