Application of inverse reliability method to estimation of cable safety factors of long span suspension bridges

  • An efficient and accurate algorithm is proposed to estimate cable safety factor of suspension bridges satisfying prescribed reliability levels. Uncertainties in the structure and load parameters are incorporated. The proposed algorithm integrates the concepts of the inverse reliability method and deterministic method for assessing cable safety factors of suspension bridges. The unique feature of the proposed method is that it offers a tool for cable safety assessment of suspension bridges, when the reliability level is specified as a target to be satisfied by the designer. After the accuracy and efficiency of the method are demonstrated through two numerical examples, the method is used to estimate cable safety factors of suspension bridges with span length ranging from 2000 to 5000 m. The results show that the deterministic method overestimates cable safety factor of suspension bridges because of neglecting the parameter uncertainty effects. The actual cable safety factor of suspension bridges should be estimated based on the proposed method.

  • An efficient and accurate algorithm is proposed to estimate flutter safety factor of suspension bridges satisfying prescribed reliability levels. Uncertainties which arise from the basic wind speed at the bridge deck location, critical flutter velocity, the wind conversion factor from a scaled model to the prototype structure and the gust speed factor are incorporated. The proposed algorithm integrates the concepts of the inverse reliability method and the calculation method of the critical flutter velocity of suspension bridges. The unique feature of the proposed method is that it offers a tool for flutter safety assessment of suspension bridges, when the reliability level is specified as a target to be satisfied by the designer. Accuracy and efficiency of this method with reference to three example suspension bridges is studied and numerical results validate its superiority over conventional deterministic method. Finally, the effects of various parameters on the flutter safety factor of suspension bridges are also investigated.

역해석법에 의한 피복재의 부분안전계수 산정 (Evaluation of Partial Safety Factors of Armor Units by Inverse-Reliability Analysis)

  • A reliability model of Level II AFDA is developed to analyze the stability of armor units on the sloped coastal structures. Additionally, the partial safety factors of random variables related to armor units can be straightforwardly evaluated by applying the inverse-reliability method in which influence coefficients and uncertainties of random variables, and target probability of failure are combined directly. In particular, a design equation for armor units is derived in terms of the same criteria as deterministic design method in order to apply the reliability-based design method of Level I without some understanding to the reliability analysis. Finally, it is confirmed that several results redesigned by the reliability-based design method of Level I have satisfactorily agreement with results of CEM as well as those of Level II AFDA.

레일리 분포와 역-레일리 분포에 근거한 NHPP 소프트웨어 신뢰성 모형의 개발비용 속성 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development Cost Attributes Analysis of NHPP Software Reliability Model Based on Rayleigh Distribution and Inverse Rayleigh Distribution)

  • 본 연구에서는 소프트웨어 신뢰성 분야에서 많이 사용하는 유한고장 NHPP Rayleigh 분포 모형과 NHPP Inverse Rayleigh 분포 모형을 소프트웨어 개발비용 모형에 적용한 후, 개발비용과 최적의 방출시간에 대한 속성을 비교, 분석하였다. 소프트웨어 개발비용의 속성을 분석하기 위하여 소프트웨어 고장시간 자료를 사용하였고, 모수추정은 최우추정법을 적용하였으며, 비선형 방정식은 이분법을 사용하여 계산하였다. 그 결과, Rayleigh 모형이 Inverse Rayleigh 모형보다 소프트웨어 개발비용이 비교적 적고, 소프트웨어 방출시점도 빨라서 상대적으로 우수한 모형임을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통하여 기존 연구사례가 없는 Rayleigh 모형과 Inverse Rayleigh 모형의 개발비용 속성을 새롭게 분석하였으며, 더불어 소프트웨어 개발자들이 소프트웨어 신뢰도 향상 방법 및 개발비용의 속성을 탐색하는 데 필요한 기본지침으로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • The inverse Rayleigh model distribution and Rayleigh distribution model were widely used in the field of reliability station. In this paper applied using the finite failure NHPP models in order to growth model. In other words, a large change in the course of the software is modified, and the occurrence of defects is almost inevitable reality. Finite failure NHPP software reliability models can have, in the literature, exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, proposes the inverse Rayleigh and Rayleigh software reliability growth model, which made out efficiency application for software reliability. Algorithm to estimate the parameters used to maximum likelihood estimator and bisection method, model selection based on mean square error (MSE) and coefficient of determination($R^2$), for the sake of efficient model, were employed. In order to insurance for the reliability of data, Laplace trend test was employed. In many aspects, Rayleigh distribution model is more efficient than the reverse-Rayleigh distribution model was proved. From this paper, software developers have to consider the growth model by prior knowledge of the software to identify failure modes which can helped.

  • RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) system is recognition technology which can maintain various object's information. Reliability of RFID tags is the most important factor in RFID system. In this paper, we proposed ALT (Accelerated Life Test) method for UHF RFID tags. Temperature and humidity were adopted as stress factors and the accelerated life tests were conducted in three different conditions. We performed failure analysis for identifying failure mechanism and statistical analysis of test data. In the statistical analysis, we employed Inverse Power law for relationship between tag's life and stress. Through the statistical analysis, we proposed acceleration factor for several levels of temperature-humidity. The reliability qualification test plans were also designed for the tag's target reliability.

지수 및 역지수 분포를 이용한 NHPP 소프트웨어 무한고장 신뢰도 모형에 관한 비교연구 (The Comparative Study of NHPP Software Reliability Model Based on Exponential and Inverse Exponential Distribution)

  • 소프트웨어 개발과정에서 소프트웨어 신뢰성은 매우 중요한 이슈이다. 소프트웨어 고장분석을 위한 무한고장 비동질적인 포아송과정에서 고장발생률이 상수이거나, 단조 증가 또는 단조 감소하는 패턴을 가질 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 소프트웨어 신뢰성에 대한 적용 효율을 나타내는 지수 및 역지수분포를 이용한 신뢰성 모형을 비교 제안한다. 효율적인 모형을 위해 평균제곱오차(MSE), 결정계수($R^2$)에 근거한 모델선택, 최우추정법, 이분법에 사용된 파라미터를 평가하기 위한 알고리즘이 적용되였다. 제안하는 지수 및 역지수분포를 이용한 신뢰성 모형를 위해 실제 데이터을 사용한 고장분석이 적용되였다. 고장데이터 분석은 지수 및 역지수분포를 이용한 강도함수와 비교하였다. 데이터 신뢰성을 보장하기 위하여 라플라스 추세검정(Laplace trend test)을 사용하였다. 본 연구에 제안된 역지수분포 신뢰성모형도 신뢰성 측면에서 효율적이기 때문에 (결정계수가 80% 이상) 이 분야에서 기존 모형의 하나의 대안으로 사용할 수 있음을 확인 할 수 있었다. 이 연구를 통하여 소프트웨어 개발자들은 다양한 수명분포를 고려함으로서 소프트웨어 고장형태에 대한 사전지식을 파악하는데 도움을 줄 수 있으리라 사료 된다.

Optimal Design of Inverse Electromagnetic Problems with Uncertain Design Parameters Assisted by Reliability and Design Sensitivity Analysis

  • In this paper, we suggest reliability as a metric to evaluate the robustness of a design for the optimal design of electromagnetic devices, with respect to constraints under the uncertainties in design variables. For fast numerical efficiency, we applied the sensitivity-assisted Monte Carlo simulation (S-MCS) method to perform reliability calculation. Furthermore, we incorporated the S-MCS with single-objective and multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithms to achieve reliability-based optimal designs, undertaking probabilistic constraint and multi-objective optimization approaches, respectively. We validated the performance of the developed optimization algorithms through application to the optimal design of a superconducting magnetic energy storage system.

처오름에 대한 신뢰성 해석 및 부분안전계수 산정 (Reliability Analysis and Evaluation of Partial Safety Factors for Wave Run-up)

  • 경사식 방파제에서 파랑과 구조물의 상호작용에 의하여 발생되는 처오름을 확률론적으로 해석할 수 있는 Level II AFDA 신뢰성 모형이 제안되었다. Level III MCS 모형을 함께 적용하여 본 연구에서 제안된 모형이 만족스럽게 검증되었다. 또한 목표파괴확률과 각 확률변수들의 통계적 특성 그리고 영향계수를 이용하는 역해석 기법을 적용하여 처오름과 관련된 각 확률변수들의 부분안전계수를 산정할 수 있었다. 특히 Level I 신뢰성 설계법을 쉽게 적용할 수 있도록 처오름의 설계기준식을 현행의 결정론적 설계법과 동일한 형태로 유도하였다. 마지막으로 본 연구에서 제시된 부분안전계수를 이용하여 Level I 신뢰성 설계법으로 재 설계한 결과가 CEM(2006) 및 Level II 신뢰성 설계법의 결과와 만족스럽게 비교되었다.

Estimation of structure system input force using the inverse fuzzy estimator

  • This study proposes an inverse estimation method for the input forces of a fixed beam structural system. The estimator includes the fuzzy Kalman Filter (FKF) technology and the fuzzy weighted recursive least square method (FWRLSM). In the estimation method, the effective estimator are accelerated and weighted by the fuzzy accelerating and weighting factors proposed based on the fuzzy logic inference system. By directly synthesizing the robust filter technology with the estimator, this study presents an efficient robust forgetting zone, which is capable of providing a reasonable trade-off between the tracking capability and the flexibility against noises. The period input of the fixed beam structure system can be effectively estimated by using this method to promote the reliability of the dynamic performance analysis. The simulation results are compared by alternating between the constant and adaptive and fuzzy weighting factors. The results demonstrate that the application of the presented method to the fixed beam structure system is successful.
