We build and analyze some types of queueing model to discuss capacity dimensioning of access links of a LAN interworking unit connected to the Internet backbone network. We assume that the IWU has a FIFO buffer to transmit IP packets to the Internet through the backbone. In order to analyze the system, we use a Poisson process and an MMPP process as input traffic models of IP packets and we use a general service time distribution as a service time model. But we use both an exponential service time and a deterministic service time in numerical examples for simple and efficient performance comparisons. As performance measures, we obtain the packet loss probability and the mean packet delay. We present some numerical results to show the effect of arrival rate, buffer size and link capacity on packet loss and mean delay.

The existed transmissions have PDH and SDH transmission system, which are based on PSTN network. But as the future ATM network is going to be constructed, it is very necessary for ATM network to interwork with PSTN for telephony service. The international standardization organizations like ITU-T, ATM Forum offered CES, VTOA1, VTOA2 and so on for interworking with PSTN service, which spend many network resources and considerable transmission delay. So in this paper, new interworking PSTN for transmission will be proposed to lessen the transmission delay and the network resources.

In this paper, we consider the interworking methods for Internet layer 3 protocols. The legacy protocol for Internet is IPv4(IP version 4). The ability of IPv4 is not enough for modern real time multimedia communication services. So IPv6(IP version 6) protocol was suggested to resolve the problems of IPv4. 6Bones(IPv6 Backbones) have also constructed from 1996 in many countries. The 6Bones should be interoperatable to the legacy internet. To support all data services including voice and video, IP protocol should be enhanced because the characteristics of modern network services are requiring QoS(Quality of Service) functions, plug and play, security, mobility and so on. So a new IP protocol, IPv6, has been developing to meet the requirements. In this paper, some migration methods for internets are described. We first describe the protocol compatibility problems and suggest some solutions and scenario to solve the problems.

This paper presents a modelling and implementation scheme of a multi directory which provides location and supplementary information of multiple applications in distributed environments. An extrended directory schema and extended DIT(Directory Information Tree) model is proposed for the multi directory. For implementation scheme, an implementation example adapted for the DFR(Document Filing and Retrieval) is shown. In addition, a configuration model for interworking between the DFR and the multi directory, an association mechanisms between two application's operations are also described. In a distributed environment, the interworking between the DFR and a multi directory implemented by using QUIPU 8.0 of ISODE(ISO Development Environment) directory system is tested. Based on the result of this paper, an extended model ofthe directory system is proposed for providing search operation of various application' objects.

본 논문에서는 3GPP2 IMT-2000 서비스를 위해 기존 음성 및 인터넷 인프라를 수용할 수 있으며, IMT-2000망에서 Mobile-IP over IMT-2000 패킷 데이터 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 두가지 상호연동 모델을 제안한다. 구현 모델에서는 PDSN(Packet Data Sowing Node) 또는 IWF(Interworking Function)의 기능이 통합된 구조와 각 기지국에 분리된 2가지 모델로 설계한다. 이 모델을 구현하기 위해 Mobile-IP over IMT-2000 프로토콜 스택과 cdma2000을 사용하며, 이를 사용하여 채널 상태에 따른 운용 시나리오와 핸드오프 기법을 기술한다.

이 논문에서는 Zigbee 통신모듈을 가로등에 사용하여 가로등들을 연동제어하는 방법을 소개한다. 가로등이 이동체를 감지하면 Zigbee 통신 네트워크를 사용하여 이동체 감지 정보를 다른 가로등들에게 알린다. 이동체를 감지하거나 이동체 감지 정보를 다른 가로등에게서 전달 받은 가로등은 일정시간 동안 가로등을 점등한다.

Since various type of wireless/mobile network likes WLAN, WIBRO, HSDPA were come to us, technology providing high quality multimedia service while user move are actively researched such as MIH (Media Independent Handover) proposed by IEEE for interworking between heterogeneous network and CMIP (Client Mobile IP), PMIP (Proxy Mobile IP) for mobility. Despite the technology about interworking and handover between heterogeneous network are actively researched, handover decision method need to be researched. In this paper we suggest a simple and effective handover method for high quality multimedia service in real wireless environment. For this, we use MIH+CMIP platform for target multimedia service to make handover decision rule in WIBRO and HSDPA networks. After apply this rule, we verified effectiveness of handover decision method through real test.

In the evaluation of Broadband-ISDN, the main issue is to interconnect existing LANs and MANs to B-ISDN based on Asynchrous Transfer Mode. However, LANs provide connectionless services, whereas the ATM network provides connection-oriented services. So some problem arises from accessing ATM switchs to transparently transmit connectionless data via B-ISDN. Two methods then were recommended by ITU-TS to support the connectionaless services. In the paper, we do the numerical analysis, using the stochastic fluid flow method, of dynamic bandwidth allocation sheme with two class traffics in the virtual path established between Interworking Units(JWUS) interconnecting LANs to an ATM network and Connectionless Servers(CLSs). The loss mechanism of each traffic is controlled by the contents of buffer. The vandwidth which the IWU requests the CLS is estimated by the number of On-Off sources in the On state. We use the stochsastic fluide flow method which is to find the steady-state joint probability in each level of the IWU buffer. The length of the IWU buffer as the real random variable is changed by traffics entering the IWU.
