Recently, the types and amount of data generated, collected, and measured in IoT such as smart home, security, and factory are increasing. The technologies for IoT service include sensor devices to measure desired data, embedded software to control the devices such as signal processing, wireless network protocol to transmit and receive the measured data, and big data and AI-based analysis. In this paper, we focused on developing a gateway for interfacing heterogeneous sensor network protocols that are used in various IoT devices and propose a heterogeneous network interface IoT gateway. We utilized a OpenWrt-based wireless routers and used 6LoWAN stack for IP-based communication via BLE and IEEE 802.15.4 adapters. We developed a software to convert Z-Wave and LoRa packets into IP packet using our Python-based middleware. We expect the IoT gateway to be used as an effective device for collecting IoT big data.

This paper deals with study of a new framework for the traceback of distributed DoS(Denial of Service) attacks in the Internet, in which many sources flood "spoofed" IP packets towards a single victim. In our scheme, the destination host traces those anonymous packets' losses, and infers the logical end-to-end paths back towards the sources. This method is based on the fact that there is a strong correlation between packet losses when those packets traverse along a same route, and the simulation results show high probabilities of detecting the topology under a certain condition. Compared with previous approaches, our scheme has a number of distinct features: It can be performed in realtime or non-realtime, without any supports of routers or ISPs. Our results may be applied to the inference of physical topology and to support previous approaches.pproaches.
The traffic on the Internet has been growing exponentially for some time. This growth is beginning to stress the current-day routers. However, switching technology offers much higher performance. So the label switching network which combines IP routing with switching technology, is emerged. EspeciaJJy in the data driven label switching, flow classification and cache table management are needed. Flow classification is to classify packets into switching and non-switching packets, and cache table management is to maintain the cache table which contains information for flow classification and label switching. However, the cache table management affects the performance of label switching network considerably as well as flowclassification because the bigger cache table makes more packet switched and maintains setup cost lower, but cache is restricted by local router resources. For that reason, there is need to study the cache replacement scheme for the efficient cache table management with the Internet traffic characterized by user. So in this paper, we propose several cache replacement schemes for label switching network. First, without the limitation at switching capacity in the router. we introduce FIFO(First In First Out). LFC(Least Flow Count), LRU(Least Recently Used! scheme and propose priority LRU, weighted priority LRU scheme. Second, with the limitation at switching capacity in the router, we introduce LFC-LFC, LFC-LRU, LRU-LFC, LRU-LRU scheme and propose LRU-weighted LRU scheme. Without limitation, weighted priority LRU scheme and with limitation, LRU-weighted LRU scheme showed best performance in this paper.

Packet classification carried out in Internet routers is one of the challenging tasks, because it has to be performed at wire-speed using five header fields at the same time. In this paper, we propose a leaf-pushed AQT bitmap trie. The proposed architecture applies the leaf-pushing to an area-based quad-trie (AQT) to reduce unnecessary off-chip memory accesses. The proposed architecture also applies a bitmap trie, which is a kind of multi-bit tries, to improve search performance and scalability. For performance evaluation, simulations are conducted by using rule sets ACL, FW, and IPC, with the sizes of 1k, 5k, and 10k. Simulation results show that the number of off-chip memory accesses is less than one regardless of set types or set sizes. Additionally, since the proposed architecture applies a bitmap trie, the required number of on-chip memory accesses is the 50% of the leaf-pushed AQT trie. In addition, our proposed architecture shows good scalability in the required on-chip memory size, where the scalability is identified by the stable change in the required memory sizes, as the size of rule sets increases.
This paper discusses a testbed architecture for implementing scalable service differentiation in the Internet. The differentiated services (DiffServ) testbed architecture is based on a model in which a bandwidth broker (BB) can control network resources, and the ALTQ can reserve resources in a router to guarantee a Quality of Service (QoS) for incoming traffic to the testbed. The reservation and releasemessage for the ALTQ is contingent upon a decision message in the BE. The BB has all the information in advance, which is required for a decision message, in the form of PIB. A signaling protocol between the BB and the routers is the COPS protocol proposed at the IETF. In terms of service differentiation, a user should make an SLA in advance, and reserve required bandwidth through an RAR procedure. The SLA and RAR message between a user and the BB has implemented with the COPS extension which was used between a router and the BB. We evaluates the service differentiation for the video streaming in that the EF class traffic shows superb performance than the BE class traffic where is a network congestion. We also present the differentiated service showing a better packet receiving rate, low packet loss, and low delay for the EF class video service.

In this paper, we propose the functional models of optical burst switching (OBS) routers to apply GMPLS (Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching) to optical networks based on OBS. In addition, we introduce a connection admission control (CAC) algorithms which are operated in this models and can accommodate the required QoS. Firstly, the characteristics of current GMPLS and OBS for the optical Internet are basically considered. With this consideration, the models are proposed to accept OBS features which include the recognition of data boundary with control information and the statistical multiplexing in terms of bursts. Secondly, we use an offset time decision (OTD) algorithm on behalf of controlling the connection admission with taking QoS parameters such as burst loss rate(BLR) and service-differentiation ratio(SDR) into consideration. The proposed CAC algorithms use the offered load of LSP (Label Switched Path), wavelength information, and QoS parameters as inputs of OTD algorithm. A call setup request will be accepted when the offset time decided by OTD algorithm is reasonable for guaranteeing its requested QoS. Simulation is used for performance evaluation. Results show the proposed schemes can guarantee the required QoS and those are better than the previous one in terms of channel utilization.

The mount of network traffic from the Internet is increasing because of the use of Broadband Convergence Networks(BcN). Network traffic is also increasing because of the development of application, especially multimedia traffic from IPTV, VOD, and online games. This multimedia traffic not only has a huge payload but also should be considered a threat in real time. For this reason, this study examines the ways that routers distribute the bandwidth in accordance to traffic properties. To classify the property of the traffic, it is essential to analyze the application layer. However, the general network processor architecture serially processes the L2-4 and L7 layer. We propose a novel parallel network processor architecture with a global cache that processes L2-4 and L7 in parallel. To verify the proposed architecture, we simulated both of the architecture with SystemC. EEMBC and SNORT was used to measure L2-4 and L7 processing time. When multimedia traffic was entered into the network processor in the same flow, the proposed architecture showed about 85% higher performance than general architecture.

Wireless mesh networks can be deployed for various networks from home networking to last-mile broadband Internet access. Wireless mesh networks are composed of mesh routers and mesh clients. In these networks, static nodes form a multi-hop backbone of a large wireless access network that provides connectivity to end-users' mobile terminals. The network nodes cooperate with each other to relay data traffic to its destinations. In order to increase connectivity and better performance, researchers are getting interested in multi-channel and multi-interface wireless mesh networks. In these networks, non-overlapping multiple frequency channels are used simultaneously to increase the aggregate bandwidth available to end-users. Recently, researches have focused on finding suitable channel assignments for wireless network interfaces, equiped in a mesh node, together with efficient routing to improve overall system throughput in wireless mesh networks. This goal can be achieved by minimize channel interference. Less interference among using channels in a network guarantees more aggregated channel capacity and better connectivity of the networks. In this thesis, we propose interference aware channel assignment and routing algorithms for multi-channel multi-hop wireless mesh networks. We propose Channel Assignment and Routing algorithms using Traffic Profiles(CARTP) and Routing algorithms allowing detour routing(CARTP+2). Finally, we evaluate the performance of proposed algorithms in comparison to results from previous methods using ns-2 simulations. The simulation results show that our proposed algorithms can enhance the overall network performance in wireless mesh networks.

The first mission for the IoT based hyper-connectivity communication is developing a device-to-device communication technique in infra-less low-power and lossy networks. In a low-power and lossy wireless network, IoT devices and routers cannot keep the original path toward the destination since they have the limited memory. Different from the previous light-weight routing protocols focusing on the reduction of the control messages, the proposed scheme provides the light-weight IPv6 address auto-configuration, IPv6 neighbor discovery and routing protocol in a IoT capable infra-less wireless networks with the bloom filer and enhanced rank concepts. And for the first time we evaluate our proposed scheme based on the modeling of various probability distributions in the IoT environments with the lossy wireless link. Specifically, the proposed enhanced RPL based light-weight routing protocol improves the robustness with the multi-paths locally established based on the enhanced rank concepts even though lossy wireless links are existed. We showed the improvements of the proposed scheme up to 40% than the RPL based protocol.
